- Pirate Captain sets out on a mission to defeat his rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz for the Pirate of the year Award. The quest takes Captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London.

Louise at last meets her real father Brian, but the reunion is short-lived: he is an alcoholic who touches her for money; he's also gay and throws himself at Jonny.
- Gaz wants to have a baby with Donna, partly so that he can marry her. She agrees to try for one but takes the morning-after pill directly afterwards. Jonny, angry that Brian thought he was gay, decides to adopt a macho attitude but ends up nearly hitting Janet, so he reverts to being calm and serene and rescuing his wife from an alky at the pub where Louise, believing that she is an alcoholic, has decided to hold an AA meeting. But Gaz confronts him, claiming that he is Corinthian's true father and he wants to take him.
- Returning from Africa, where she spends half the year with her husband and daughter, Saffy finds that Edina has let the house to film star Michael Douglas for the Olympic Games but has forgotten when they start. Eddy and Patsy--who now needs incontinence pants--doll themselves up for their guest but instead find themselves hosting Marshall--to whom Michael gave his tickets when they met at a sex-addiction group--and Bo. However, when Marshall drops his tickets for the pre-Olympic party, they use them to gate-crash. Their gaucherie inevitably gets them thrown out, although they do get to use the stadium. Back home they settle down to watch the Games on television with Bubble, Saffy, and Mother--who knows something the rest of them do not.
- Lee,Daisy and Lucy are on a skiing holiday but Lucy has had an accident,putting her arms in plaster. The three of them are in a cable car which gets stuck over the piste,their fellow occupant being a heavily pregnant woman who speaks little English. With Lucy incapacitated and Daisy obsessed with a stray bird it is down to Lee to act as midwife - which he does admirably even though he was not expecting triplets.
