The Bronx’s large Dominican population turned out in droves Sunday for an annual celebration of their culture.
The Bronx Dominican Day Parade has been a staple in the borough for 26 years, and this year was no different, with thousands filling the streets to celebrate their heritage.
The 1.5-mile parade spanned from East Tremont Avenue and 166th Street along Grand Concourse.
The event carries a goal as well: to provide a better understanding of the contributions Dominicans are making in the U.S.
Though the event is a celebration, some also come to convey important messages about their homeland, such as corruption in the country’s government.
