Nintendo realizes that much of the frenzy over Pokémon is over the challenge of collecting extremely rare Pokémon, and with Pokémon Silver And Gold, they've made that challenge even harder. This newest rarity Serebii has never even been available to Japanese gamers, despite the fact that the Silver and Gold versions have been available since November in Japan. Finally, Pok¿maniacs will have their chance to catch Serebii... But it won't be easy!
At this year's Nintendo Spaceworld 2000, attendees will have an opportunity to be one of 100,000 lucky Pokémon players to have Serebii installed onto their Gold or Silver cartridges (Serebii is not available on Red, Blue, Green, or Pikachu edition Pokémon cartridges). However, before the show, Japanese Nintendoids will have to send in a postcard and enter a lottery for one of only 100,000 certificates for Serebii. Children are allowed to play for Serebii, but any child winner must be escorted at the show before the prize is administered. Any winner who misses the show loses their chance to win Serebii, and must wait for and reenter the next time Serebii is offered to the pubic... whenever that might be.
If these Pokémon players are lucky enough to be chosen (and chances are pretty slim of that), winners will have to then fight crowds and get into the jam-packed Nintendo Spaceworld show (which will be the unveiling ground for both the Dolphin and Game Boy Advance) and make headway to the Pokémon area. There, they will become one of the first in the world to have caught Serebii!
But of course, you'll need the Japanese version of the game, and the US version (when released this October) won't be link-cable compatible with the Japanese version of the game. You're just gonna have to hope Nintendo of America has its own promotions for us.
