Liverpool's Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have both signed extensions to their Anfield contracts, committing themselves to Anfield until 2009.
Gerrard, 25, has brought to a close a tumultuous week in which he broke off contract talks, requested a transfer and then decided to stay after all.
During his period of indecision the Reds turned down a £32m bid by Chelsea for the England midfielder.
Carragher, 27, was always expected to pledge his future to the Anfield club.
Earlier this week Gerrard, whose offer to give up the captaincy was rejected by manager Rafael Benitez, met his team-mates at Liverpool's Melwood training ground to explain his recent actions.
And now he will aim to improve his relationship with Benitez himself, which has suffered during the contract saga.
"Our relationship is OK but I admit it could be better and that is something I am going to work on," Gerrard said of his boss.
"I am sure we will sit down in the next few days for a chat. I don't think he has seen the best of me. There were times last season when I wasn't happy with my performances. Things were on my mind.
"All the talk of bust-ups is nonsense. We have had a few heated discussions over the last five or six days but my respect for Rafa has not changed.
"He is one of the best coaches in the world and I understand he rates me as a player."
Benitez, speaking on Thursday, added: "We all wanted him to stay.
"Whenever we have talked we have always known he wanted to stay and we understood the situation.
"Now we have a clear idea about the future and it is important that we received this news and it has come as a boost for everyone at the club.
"My relationship with Steve is fine - it always has been."
Gerrard, who also came close to joining Chelsea last summer, has pledged to never again put the Liverpool supporters through a closed-season saga like it.
