On one hand, existing fans of the franchise and hardcore real-time strategy lovers will compare it to prior Age of Empires outings, expecting the same level of content and quality as a full-priced game, despite its free-to-play model. At this year's GamesCom, the behemoth that is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is finally finding its dominance challenged by Battlefield 3. There were two comparable demos available for both games; BF3 was showing off elements of its newly revealed co-op campaign behind closed doors as well as 64-player multiplayer on the show floor, while Modern Warfare was presenting two demos of its Spec Ops co-op mission and survival modes. Both featured two-player co-op in urban environments, though the actual implementation differed hugely.
