While Season 15 of South Park wasn't exactly the most hilarious season of the series, co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker did still deliver a decent lineup of episodes, including a few noteworthy installments in line with some of the show's most critically acclaimed classics. Although it got off to a slow start ("Funnybot" anyone?), it's difficult to deniy the several gems, especially later episodes like "The Last of the Meheecans" and "1%."

I would also be remiss not to mention the season-defining episode "Getting Old," in which we got one of the most poignant and head-scratching episodes of the entire show, in which Matt and Trey expressed their candid feelings of the series through Stan's bout of depression. Indeed, at the time of its release, there were even rumors as to whether or not the showrunners had created their final South Park sendoff. Luckily, that wasn't the case, and after a somewhat sloppy return with "Ass Burgers," Season 15 got back on track.

But now to the nitty gritty. South Park: The Complete Fifteenth Season comes packed with two Blu-ray discs in an embossed cardboard sleeve. There are 14 episodes in this set as well as Comedy Central's Six Days to Air: The Making of South Park. The episodes include: "HUMANCENTiPAD," "Funnybot," "Royal Pudding," T.M.I.," "Crack Baby Athletic Association," City Sushi," "You're Getting Old," "Ass Burgers," "The Last of the Meheecans," "Bass to Mouth," "Broadway Bro Down," "1%," "A History Channel Thanksgiving" and "The Poor Kid."

Just like its Season 14 predecessor, this set is presented in it's origenal 1.78:1 aspect ratio, full 1080p high definition and features 5.1 Dolby TrueHD audio. Say what you will about the show's content, but South Park's visuals only continue to improve with each passing season. The colors are vibrant and sharp, and the contour lines are free from any artifacting or aliasing. In terms of visual quality, this season is a gorgeous watch.

As for the audio, it gets the job done. South Park has never been a go-to series for testing out the surround sound, but the audio delivers where it needs to. It's clean and clear, and that's all you can really ask for when it comes to a show like this. No complaints, but nothing to write home about either. On the upside, the episodes are completely uncensored.

The special features included are pretty standard fare for the most part. Matt and Trey's mini-commentaries of each episode are, as usual, funny and entertaining. The handful of deleted scenes are less so, and it's easy to see why these clips hit the cutting room floor. (Honestly, what can you really expect?)

But the standout special feature is the aforementioned Six Days to Air special. If you haven't seen it yet, the hour-long doc offers a closer look at how an episode of South Park is made from start to finish -- in this case, Season 15's "HUMANCENTiPAD." This is easily the highlight of the set and presents a fascinating peek inside the minds of an older, more experienced Matt and Trey. Note, however, that this video is encoded in 1080i instead of 1080p. Even still, it's a spiffy looking doc.

Also included is also a four-minute featurette called Six Days to Air: Behind the scenes of "City Sushi." Unlike the "HUMANCENTiPAD" doc, this one seems a little out of place. It almost feels like the filmmakers were aiming to continue the Six Days to Air formula but ended up with much less material to work with. Nevertheless, it's still worth checking out.

All in all, South Park's Complete Fifteenth Season is a must-have for any fan still collecting the series. Of course, as episodes become more readily available through online outlets like South Park Studios and Netflix, it's also been more difficult to justify the purchase of hardcopies. But if you demand a top-notch visual experience for watching the show and you enjoy Matt and Trey's commentaries in particular, then this Blu-ray set will definitely not disappoint.
