Life cycle: summer annual
Growth habit: grows from 1 - 2 ft. tall with erect branching stems; leaves opposite, egg-shaped with pointed tip, toothed margins, covered with coarse hairs
Reproduction: seeds produced by numerous small flowers in terminal clusters with 4-5 white rays surrounding yellow disc centers; germinate early spring through late summer; no dormancy period so seeds germinate throughout season; a single plant can produce 7,500 seeds that remain viable for a few years
Conditions that favor growth: usually found in fertile soils in landscapes, gardens, and ornamental beds
Cultural control: easy to remove manually; remove before plant flowers and produces seeds
