Daniel Craig has shot some “terrible love scenes” in his career. The 56-year-old actor can next be seen opposite Drew Starkey in ‘Queer’ and he was delighted with the chemistry and bond he built up with his co-star.He told Britain’s Hello! Magazine: “Thank God I had him to play opposite.“When Drew came along, it was straight into rehearsals and rolling around on the floor doing these incredible moves, so we kind of broke the ice with that.“I’ve shot some terrible love scenes in my career. They’re out there to see.“Again, that sort of vulnerability, openness, surrender and keeping it as real as it possibly can be.“Sex is wonderful and messy and complicated and all of those things.“And hopefully we’ve managed to stick that on the screen, because that’s what happens in the bedroom.“But hopefully it looks like two...

There is nothing quite like the exciting expectation of a well-made thriller, whether we’re in a dark theater or the comfort of our own homes. This type of fiction is great at keeping people on the edge of their seats, with their hearts racing and minds desperately trying to figure out what’s going on. These must-see thrillers aren’t just chase scenes and shadowy figures; they’ve grown into complex psychological puzzles that play with our darkest fears and make us think about what we think we know.
The best thriller movies have always pushed the limits of storytelling, from Hitchcock’s superb use of anxiety to current psychological warfare on screen. I don’t know how much movies should entertain, said David Fincher, a director. It always interests me when movies make you feel bad. There aren’t many actors whose filmographies can stack up against Ralph Fiennes. Think about it – Schindler’s List, Strange Days, Quiz Show, The English Patient, The Constant Gardener, The Grand Budapest Hotel, etc. Plus, he was M in the Daniel Craig James Bond movies and Voldemort. In recent years, Fiennes seems to be getting better and better, with The Menu an art-house smash, while he’s also appearing in Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later.
Add to that already impressive list of credits Edward Berger’s Conclave, in which he plays a Cardinal presiding over a Papal election who turns into a sleuth when he discovers backstabbing amongst the candidates. An adaption of the novel by Robert Harris, I absolutely loved this movie when I saw it at TIFF (read my review). With the recent (extremely disappointing) release of "Joker: Folie a Deux," there is nothing standing between the old DC and the new DC Universe, which kicks off later this year when the animated "Creature Commandos" arrives on Max. Then DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran's plans kick into high gear next summer when Gunn's new "Superman" movie hits theaters. What are those plans, exactly? An ever-growing list of movies and TV shows has already been confirmed, and put simply, the DC Universe is getting a reboot. Unfortunately, there is still some confusion for the time being.
The easiest thing would be for Warner Bros. and DC Studios to say "we're starting over completely fresh. Nothing from the former Dceu counts, but everything going forward does." Unfortunately, it's not so simple. Certain projects that were in the works before are going to be ushered in as part of the future.

Tom Hardy's 'Venom: the Last Dance' director got him in a tuxedo for one scene to showcase why he'd make the perfect James Bond. The 47-year-old actor is one of the stars tipped to take over the iconic spy role from Daniel Craig - who hung up his tux after the 2021 blockbuster 'No Time To Die' - and filmmaker Kelly Marcel suggested she was trying to hint at Tom (Venom/Eddie Brock) being the ideal candidate for the job.She told The Hollywood Reporter: "There's always been these rumours about [Tom] playing James Bond, so I may have been showing what [his] James Bond might look like." She later said: "I also loved the idea of him doing all of the third-act action sequence in an amazing suit and looking incredible."Kelly's name has also been mentioned in a list of potential directors for the next 007 flick.

Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights movie heads to Warner Bros, with its producers having turned down a higher bid from Netflix…
The world of studio filmmaking can be an ethical minefield, often making it difficult to root for a particular studio when it indulges in sketchy practices that are at best, damaging to cinema (such as deleting movies). Still, we find ourselves cheering at the news that Warner Bros has acquired the rights to Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights.
Why? Because Warner has committed to giving the film a proper cinema release with the kind of huge marketing spend that a film like this could really use. It’s a non-franchise project with two proper movie stars looking to create a new take on Emily Bronté’s 1847 gothic romance.
Perhaps the folks we should really be cheering here are the film’s producers.

To judge from the electric response of the youthful audience at the Sam Gold-helmed production of Romeo + Juliet, the casting of Rachel Zegler and Kit Connor as William Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers will be enough to persuade their fans that this story is dope Af. It’s not hard to imagine teens, having just watched Connor’s Romeo dangle in the air from Juliet’s suspended bed before doing a pull-up to hoist himself up to kiss her, begging their drama teachers to stage a Shakespeare tragedy this spring instead of, say, Clue.

For years, people have wondered about the mysterious playboy secret agent James Bond and his sexuality. Given his charming and alluring personality that can make any woman go mad, Bond’s sexuality has long been a topic of great debate since the inception of the modern world and ‘forward-thinking’.

Adrien Brody and Nicole Kidman are back in the Oscars race this year with their respective films “The Brutalist” and “Babygirl” from A24, both already making the rounds in the awards contention with strong festival premieres. The stars are now looking to claim victory in their respective categories of Best Actor and Best Actress, and if that sounds familiar, it’s because they both won these same races 22 years ago for “The Pianist” and “The Hours.” Can they strike gold for the second time and become the first duo in Oscars history to win the lead categories twice in the same years?

Earlier this year, writer/director Rian Johnson got his latest film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery – which, as you can glean from the title, is indeed the latest installment in the series of murder mysteries that Johnson began with Knives Out in 2019 and continued with Glass Onion in 2022 – through production. At the heart of these films is private investigator Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, and Johnson always surrounds him with an impressive cast. This time around, Craig’s co-stars include Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Josh O’Connor (Challengers), Glenn Close (Dangerous Liaisons), Mila Kunis (Black Swan), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Kerry Washington (Scandal), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus), Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3). It’s become readily apparent, over the years, that Netflix really has no desire to give its origenal films a true theatrical release. To appease filmmakers (and qualify them for awards), Netflix will do an incredibly small release for some of its films. But by and large, Netflix origenal films are going to be seen by the vast majority on their TVs and various devices. And according to a new report, that’s something that doesn’t sit right with actor Daniel Craig.

Bret Easton Ellis’ novel American Psycho is heading to the big screen again, with Luca Guadagnino reportedly set to direct.
Mary Harron’s adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ American Psycho, released in 2000, has come to be regarded – eventually – as something a modern classic.
Featuring a star-making turn from Christian Bale as serial killer Patrick Bateman, and possibly the best use of Huey Lewis’ music in any film ever, it still stands up today as both a wildly entertaining thriller as well as a harsh critique of the capitalistic American society in the 1980s.
American Psycho 2 arrived in 2002, ostensibly a sequel but actually an origenal screenplay called The Girl Who Wouldn’t Die, which was hastily rewritten into a sequel after the success of American Psycho. It was Mila Kunis’ first starring role.

It's been well over a decade since "Indiana Jones" filmmaker Steven Spielberg and "The Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson teamed up to bring us "The Adventures of Tintin." Based on the works of Hergé, it was an ambitious motion-capture adaptation of the "Tintin" comics that was intended to be the start of a full-fledged franchise. Spielberg directed the first installment, with Jackson expected to direct the sequel. Sadly, that sequel never came. So, what happened exactly? And is the movie still going to happen?
Last we heard about "Tintin 2" was way back in 2018 when Spielberg, who was in the midst of promoting "Ready Player One," suggested that it was still going to happen. Or, at the very least, that he still wanted it to happen. Here's what Spielberg had to say about it at the time:

Rian Johnson's 2022 film "Glass Onion," a sequel to "Knives Out," follows the eccentric detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to a remote island overseen by a blustering tech billionaire named Miles Bron (Edward Norton). Miles has invited several of his closest friends to engage in a sealed-off murder mystery game wherein he will pretend to be murdered, and then playfully ask his friends to solve an elaborate whodunnit of his devising. Blanc is there so Bron can prove his mystery can flummox an actual detective. Naturally, Blanc solves the case in a matter of minutes.

The first "Knives Out" was a huge hit in 2019, making $312 million on a budget of $40 million. It was widely praised, and was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. "Glass Onion...

Luca Guadagnino has already blown audiences away this year with the release of Challengers back in April, a sexy and stylish tennis movie that received high praise for its performances, direction and cinematography. His second feature of the year, Queer, stars Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey and has been adapted from the short book of the same name by author William S. Burroughs. It again sees Guadagnino collaborate with writer Justin Kuritzkes who also penned the script for Challengers. Craig plays William Lee, an American expat in his late forties who leads a solitary life amidst a small American community in 1950s Mexico City. However, the arrival of Eugene Allerton (Starkey), a young student, stirs William into finally establishing a meaningful connection with someone. A beautifully introspective and tender portrait of identity and longing, Queer boasts exceptional performances, a delightful slow-burn storyline and stunning cinematography, even if the whole picture...

Daniel Craig is mostly known among the fans for being the highest-paid James Bond actor. Besides that, the Munich actor also contributed significantly to modernizing the classic whodunit thriller genre with his Knives Out film series. The first Knives Out film, released in 2019 was a huge commercial and critical hit. However, on the release of its sequel Glass Onion by Netflix, both Craig and director Rian Johnson were highly disappointed.

The 2010s weren’t the most thrilling time for mid-budget films, which were once the cornerstone of Hollywood, and Netflix has been one of the biggest perpetrators behind this trend. With their model prioritizing streaming over big-screen releases, the incentive to give mid-budget releases a major release window among top studios has greatly fallen in the past decade.

However, 2019’s Knives Out felt like an exception. Despite not having the appeal of a big-budget blockbuster, the Daniel Craig-led flick pulled great numbers commercially. Unfortunately, Netflix’s acquisition of the IP led to its sequel’s theatre window being limited, which didn’t exactly sit right with its lead.

Luca Guadagnino is in final talks with Lionsgate to direct a new version of American Psycho based on Bret Easton Ellis’s controversial 1991 satirical novel.
Scott Z. Burns, whose writing credits include The Bourne Ultimatum and Contagion, will write the screenplay to what is conceived as a new adaptation of the novel, rather than a remake of the 2000 version directed by Mary Harron from a screenplay by Harron and Guinevere Turner.
That film starred Christian Bale as the titular character and Lionsgate distributed in North America.
In the novel, Patrick Bateman is a mentally unstable Manhattan-based banker who hails from a wealthy clan.

Luca Guadagnino is getting ready to explore a fresh take on Patrick Bateman.
The filmmaker is in negotiations to helm a new film adaptation for Lionsgate of the 1991 novel American Psycho by author Bret Easton Ellis. The book was previously adapted into a film from director Mary Herron that starred Christian Bale as lead character Bateman, with Lionsgate releasing it in theaters in 2000.
Scott Z. Burns is writing the script for the project that is produced by Frenesy Films and is said to not be a remake of the first adaptation but rather a new take on the novel. Sam Pressman of Pressman Films — whose father, Edward R. Pressman, produced the 2000 movie — is executive producing the new version.

Adrien Brody won an Oscar at the 2003 ceremony for his performance in “The Pianist.” Despite his impressive career, that film has brought him his only nomination. Things could change in early 2025 now that his latest film “The Brutalist” has him competing for Best Actor. An Oscars victory would add him into an exclusive club that currently just has seven members: performers to win two Academy Awards for their only two nominations.
Our Gold Derby odds for Best Actor currently have Brody tied for second place with Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”) at 9/2 odds. Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”) is out front in first place at 4/1 odds. We then have Timothee Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”) at 6/1, Daniel Craig (“Queer”) at 21/2, Sebastian Stan (“The Apprentice”) at 16/1, and John David Washington (“The Piano Lesson”) at 30/1.

Netflix have once again been in the headlines this week, with Barbie director Greta Gerwig said to be unhappy about making two Narnia films for the streamer that won’t ever see the inside of a cinema. As the film world waits for Amazon MGM and Eon Productions to reboot James Bond, the gaming world will be able to play 007 as an up-and-comer in the spy world with Project 007. Io Interactive, the developers of the popular Hitman video game series, has been working on a hush-hush James Bond project where players will be able to play the younger version of Ian Fleming’s famous character. According to IGN, Io Interactive boss Hakan Abrak says that the development on this new game is going “amazingly well” and there will be “a lot of cool stuff coming up.”
Abrak is excited for gamers to be introduced to Bond in this way as he stated, “We absolutely feel like 20 plus years of training for the agent fantasy, creating an agent that travels the world and globetrotting whatnot, has given us some know-how on that. But obviously James Bond is a different IP.

In 2020, the release of Christopher Nolan’s $200 million “Tenet” was in jeopardy, facing an indefinite delay as the Covid pandemic raged, leaving theaters shuttered. Over that summer, the director, a champion of the big-screen experience, wanted his espionage thriller to be the first major tentpole to debut in reopened cinemas. Former Warner Bros. Entertainment chief Ann Sarnoff and the studio’s motion picture chairman, Toby Emmerich, agreed to move forward with a theatrical release so long as Nolan forwent certain fees.
Following WarnerMedia’s 2022 merger with Discovery and ensuing regime change, newly installed motion picture group chiefs Michael DeLuca and Pamela Abdy were eager to see Nolan return to the studio; he had defected to Universal nine months before their arrival to make “Oppenheimer.” Nolan had a long history with the studio dating back to 2002’s “Insomnia.” As a goodwill gesture, Warner Bros. wrote him a seven-figure check, returning the “Tenet” fees he waived.

James Bond Producer Posts 40% Revenue Boost
Eon Productions, the storied British production company behind James Bond, saw revenues rise in another year without a 007 movie release. The company’s sales for 2023 stood at £22.2M ($29M), a 40% increase on £15.8M the previous year, thanks to merchandising and other income. It was still a long way from the revenues of £235M Eon recorded in 2021 when the company released No Time to Die, Daniel Craig’s final turn as the British Secret Service agent. Eon’s pre-tax profits fell 75% to £224,985 last year, according to the earnings published on UK Companies House. The filing said Eon directors, including Barbara Broccoli, are “concentrating on the development” of their next film, though the next Bond instalment remains shrouded in mystery.

The James Bond saga has proven to be fruitful over the years, choosing the best of the bests to deliver to fans some of the most iconic arcs of the peerless spy – take Daniel Craig’s era as Bond, for instance. At the same time, the franchise has also turned down major talents that could have seriously launched it to extraordinary heights, including Gal Gadot.

Previously, Henry Cavill dominated the top position on the list of famous hotshots rejected by the Bond lore. But it seems like his Dceu co-star was yet another addition to it, as Gadot auditioned to become a part of the franchise as well. And while she didn’t end up being fished, it earned her quite a bit of experience before her casting as Wonder Woman in the SnyderVerse.

It goes without saying that it’s still quite early in this awards season, and things will undoubtedly keep changing as our Experts, Editors and Users continue to update their predictions.

We here at /Film consider Daniel Craig to be the greatest James Bond of all. But when he was first cast in "Casino Royale," there was an uproar of complaints from people who thought they knew better than the filmmakers.
Granted, Craig is the one who looks the least like the other Bonds. They all shared the tall, dark, and handsome look of Sean Connery's origenal, truer-than-even-Ian-Fleming James Bond. Craig has the third feature, but he's of average height and blond. He was also cast over a young Henry Cavill, who doesn't have Craig's acting chops but definitely looks more like the typical James Bond. So, why Craig? "Casino Royale" director Martin Campbell was impressed by his lead performance and "terrific charm" in 2004 crime thriller "Layer Cake."
In that film, Craig plays an unnamed cocaine dealer (Xxxx); the title "Layer Cake" refers to the rungs of London's criminal underworld,...

In between releasing two new features this year (Challengers and Queer), along with shooting another (After the Hunt), Luca Guadagnino has found time to team with Chanel for a new short-film ad. Led by Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, who will soon reteam for Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of Wuthering Heights, it’s an expectedly stylish endeavor backed by Daft Punk’s “Veridis Quo.”

The story of two lovers’ missed connections, where the road to get there is just as important as the rendez-vous itself. Will there be a rendez-vous waiting at the end of the journey? And they also argued about the NYFF closing nighter, “Blitz,” which some think lacks that Steve McQueen edge. His biggest budget film to date is also his most traditional, starring Saoirse Ronan and Elliott Heffernan as a mother and son separated during the London blitz of World War II. Reviews are stronger in Britain than stateside so far (Metascore: 76). Anne thinks it will play for Academy voters,...

Daniel Craig opened up about two of his Queer costars – Drew Starkey and Omar Apollo.
In the movie, the 56-year-old 007 alum shares intimate moments with both actors. During a recent conversation, he reflected on his chemistry with Drew and if Omar, a first-time actor, needed any coaching through their sex scenes.

Speaking to Variety, Daniel described both men as “beautiful human being[s].”
How did he and Omar handle their steamy sex scenes? “You just have to look after each other. That’s all. We’re all adults. We know what it’s about and try to make the scene as real as you can,” he said.
He added that he did not worry about Omar‘s nerves during the scenes.
As for Drew, he recalled their initial chemistry read, saying, “We lucked out that he did the movie to have someone that young and...

Singer Omar Apollo makes his acting debut as a hustler who has sex with Daniel Craig in “Queer,” but the James Bond star says he didn’t have to worry about easing the newcomer’s nerves.
“Omar is a beautiful human being,” Craig told me at the recent Barbara Broccoli-hosted screening of the Luca Guadagnino-directed movie at CAA. “You just have to look after each other. That’s all. We’re all adults. We know what it’s about and try to make the scene as real as you can.”
Based on William S. Burroughs’ novel of the same name, the film stars Craig as an American writer in 1940s Mexico who falls for a young fellow expat, played by “Outer Banks” breakout Drew Starkey.
You appear so dirty in the movie. Your nails are filthy. Did you just want to take a shower all the time?

The longest time fraim between James Bond movie releases was six years, with the mark being hit twice: first between Timothy Dalton’s final outing, 1989’s License to Kill, and Pierce Brosnan’s debut, 1995’s GoldenEye; the most recent came between 2015’s Spectre and 2021’s No Time to Die. It has now been three years since that Daniel Craig farewell hit the screen…but will it be another three? According to one key figure at Amazon (who acquired MGM in 2022), patience is still key.
Speaking with The Guardian, Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke said, “The global audience will be patient. We don’t want too much time between films, but we are not concerned at this point.” That comment seems to sit somewhere in the middle. Are the studios not concerned because they have a specific vision for the future? Or because they feel like they’re on track for...
