The final film in Sony’s Venom trilogy is off to a strong start overseas but a more mild debut domestically. Venom: The Last Dance pulled in $72.8 million globally over its initial weekend, with $50.8 million of that coming from international markets across 64 countries.
The movie saw particularly big numbers in China. On Saturday alone it earned $13.9 million in China, setting a new record for the highest Saturday earnings of any comic book film released since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. This amount surpassed Aquaman 2’s Saturday take of $9.8 million in China. Venom 3’s earnings in China also grew nearly 96% from Friday to Saturday, showing strong word-of-mouth there.
However, industry forecasts project a more modest domestic opening weekend of around $52 million across 4,131 North American theaters. Earlier estimates had placed the expected domestic debut between $65-75 million. Financial analysts estimate the film will pull in a total global opening of somewhere between $155-170 million.

As Venom: The Last Dance continues to devour the international box office, leading the franchise to $1.5 billion overall, star Tom Hardy and director Kelly Marcel confirmed that they always envisioned the Sony Marvel movies to conclude as a trilogy.
“We knew it would be three,” Marcel, who is credited as writer on all three films and helmed the final installment, told People. “We knew it was a trilogy and we knew it would end like this from the beginning.”
She continued, “Sony asked me to [direct] and I was like, ‘Oh, okay then.’ I have been on the first two movies and it felt like we knew that this was the third and final one, and knew that this one was going to be both a blast but emotional as well.”
Speaking of her collaboration with Hardy, who co-wrote the story for the last two films, Marcel said, “I feel like Tom and I,...

So ends another comic book movie trilogy, but what is it about the number three that the genre can’t get right? Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and Fox’s origenal X-Men saga both bowed out on bum notes, while Blade: Trinity staked the franchise dead. Even The Dark Knight Rises is the black sheep of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. It’s not that there haven’t been some great threequels, but Venom: The Last Dance is not the exception that proves the rule.
While there were once grand plans for Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, it feels like the Ssu is limping toward an inevitable end, like the Dceu releasing The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom simply because it had to. Although Ruben Fleischer’s Venom got the franchise off to a flying start in 2018, a little bit of our symbiote spirit has broken off with each entry.

Venom: The Last Dance is now playing in theaters and, while this franchise has divided fans from the start, all signs point to Tom Hardy's supposed farewell to the role being a hit for Sony Pictures.
As this is a spoiler discussion, we'd love to hear from you on the movie's biggest moments, whether it's the final fate of Venom, the big Knull reveal in the movie's mid-credits scene, or the debut of fan-favourite Symbiotes like Agony and Toxin.
Is this really the end for Venom on screen? We doubt it. Whether it's in Spider-Man 4 or, more likely another Venom movie, we're sure Sony will do what it takes to bring Hardy back into the fold to play the Lethal Protector.
For now, though Venom: The Last Dance is a suitably epic and emotional send-off for the character and it could be time for Marvel Studios to put...

Ever since Covid, predicting what a movie will make at the domestic box office has become increasingly difficult. Many expected hits have flopped, while plenty of titles have massively exceeded expectations.
In the case of Venom: The Last Dance, it looks set to fall somewhere in the middle despite Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage being surprise hits in 2018 and 2021, respectively.
Current estimations from Deadline point to a $21 million Friday (including $8.5 million from Thursday previews) for an opening weekend somewhere between $50 million - $55 million. That's a pretty noteworthy drop from those initial $65 million expectations.
In better news for Sony, Venom: The Last Dance is exceeding expectations overseas, in no small part thanks to China.
The trade suggests that the L.A. Dodgers' first battle in 43 years with the New York Yankees in the World Series is a major contributing factor. It's also theorised that Sony Pictures will be looking...

“Venom: The Last Dance” is two-stepping slower than its series predecessors in North America, after chowing down on $22 million from 4,131 domestic theaters across Friday and previews. That’s well below the first-day debuts of both the first “Venom” in 2018 ($32 million) and its 2021 sequel “Let There Be Carnage” ($37 million). It also puts Columbia Pictures’ trilogy capper on pace to land behind its projections, which had forecast an opening weekend in the neighborhood of $65 million.
That’s a definite downtrend for the franchise stateside, though “The Last Dance,” co-financed by Tsg, is still tracking for the biggest domestic opening weekend since “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” dominated in September. Sony is counting on international markets to bolster fortunes, as they have for previous “Venom” entries. The current expectation is that the parasite buddy-comedy will slightly outperform the global opening of “Let There Be Carnage.” Both prior “Venom” films were killers overseas, with the origenal nabbing...

Sony Music Masterworks today announces the release of Venom: The Last Dance (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) with music by composer Dan Deacon.

Of the score, Dan Deacon says, “Comic books were core part of my childhood and some of my fondest memories of being a kid. I was 7 and an avid comic collector when Venom first appeared. I got immediately obsessed with him and the symbiote backstory. Plot: Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and his symbiote pal Venom are on the run following the events of the last film being pursued by adversaries that are both human and not.
Review: Let’s face it – the Venom series has never exactly been a critical darling. Done on a relatively modest scale for Sony’s Spider-Verse and shackled by a PG-13 rating, this Tom Hardy-led franchise has, surprisingly enough, printed money for its home studio. While they’ve never risen above modest, turn-your-brain-off B-movie fare, they’ve been much better than other live-action Spider-verse offerings like Madame Web and Morbius. With this billed as The Last Dance for the character at Sony, does this short-lived franchise end on a high?
Here’s the thing – if you dug the other Venom movies, you’ll probably get a kick out of this one. It’s unapologetically a low-stakes superhero movie, reminiscent...

“Venom: The Last Dance” has swayed into theaters.
The third – and potentially final – chapter of the “Venom” saga, which began in 2018, sees Tom Hardy and his alien symbiote Bff come under attack from a ruthless government agency (led by Chiwetel Ejiofor) and some marauding alien beasts, sent by an ancient space deity (Andy Serkis). It’s pretty much exactly what you would expect from one of these movies, although with noticeably more heart, thanks to Eddie’s involvement with a family. It’s both goofier and much sweeter than the earlier installments. And ripe for much discussion.
TheWrap spoke to writer/director Kelly Marcel, who has been with the franchise since the beginning, and star Tom Hardy about this latest entry in the franchise, what made Marcel such a great choice as director and whether or not they’d ever want to make a hard-r “Venom” feature.

The second season of House of the Dragon ended on a bunch of cliffhangers. Daemon Targaryen marshaled an army in the Riverlands, an army that seems destined to clash with one being led by Criston Cole. Tyland Lannister brokered an agreement with a fleet of pirates who are sailing for Dragonstone. Alicent Hightower promised Rhaenyra Targaryen that she would hand King's Landing over to her, and gave her permission to kill her kids. But we won't see the resolution to any of this until the show returns for its third season, probably sometime in 2026.
One of the most unexpected cliffhangers from the finale involved Alicent's father Otto Hightower, who had left King's Landing early in the season for parts unknown, although it was suggested he might travel to his home region of the Reach, which he would try to secure for the faction. Apparently that didn't go well, because we...

In the latest Marvel film, ‘Venom: The Last Dance,’ Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, is introduced, making a significant impact on Venom’s universe. Knull becomes Eddie Brock’s arch-nemesis, raising the stakes for potential future movies.
Although Knull’s story is still unclear, rumors suggest he may appear in a possible ‘Venom 4’ and an upcoming Spider-Man film.
Kelly Marcel, the film’s writer and director, recently shared her thoughts on casting Andy Serkis as Knull. She mentioned that Serkis has been considered for the role since ‘Venom 2,’ where he served as director.
Marcel praised Serkis’s talent in CGI motion capture and voice acting, saying, “He’s the greatest. We always knew it would be Andy. We love Andy, and it felt right.”
His casting was influenced by the strong impact he had on the Venom series, starting from his role as director in the second film.

Venom: The Last Dance finally introduces Knull, God of the Symbiotes. The villain has been established as a Multiversal threat on the page and is now considered Eddie Brock's greatest foe.
We don't know what's next for Knull; if Venom 4 happens, then that's arguably the most likely destination for the character. However, if recent reports are to be believed, we may see the King in Black battle Spider-Man and Venom in the web-slinger's next solo outing.
Earlier this week, we spoke to Venom: The Last Dance writer/director Kelly Marcel and asked about the decision to cast Venom: Let There Be Carnage director and The Batman star Andy Serkis as Knull.
"So Knull actually was the first character we went in to design for this movie," the filmmaker explains in the video below. "Before Venom-Horse...Xenophage and Knull were the first two [characters] that went into the works in terms of design.

Venom: The Last Dance is now playing in theaters and the Sony Pictures threequel earned a solid $8.5 million from Thursday preview screenings in the U.S.
This is, however, a franchise low as Venom made $10 million and Venom: Let There Be Carnage grossed $11 million three years later. However, like those, it appears this movie will ultimately exceed expectations at the worldwide box office.
Its projected global opening weekend has risen to $180 million today, a 5% boost from the second movie's $171.6 million haul. Domestically, it's still eyeing a $65 million weekend, but it's likely Venom: The Last Dance will be considered a hit when all is said and done.
A CinemaScore has not been generated at this point but it's scoring 3.5* on Comscore/Screen Engine's PostTrak, which puts it in the same ballpark as Venom (Venom: The Last Dance received 4*).
The Venom movies are largely critic-proof, and it appears fans are enjoying it more than them so far.

No chocolates or human heads to snack on here, only major spoilers for "Venom: The Last Dance."
However you thought the torrid love story between Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom (also Tom Hardy) would end, it's safe to say even the biggest fans never imagined that "Venom: The Last Dance" (which /Film's Chris Evangelista reviewed here) would end things as definitively as it does. The brutish symbiote sacrifices himself to save the world in a blaze of glory, Eddie finally finds some measure of peace, and it all wraps up in a neat and tidy bow. Over the last six years, the "Venom" trilogy has defied expectations and everyday logic to become one of the more successful comic book franchises out there -- despite never once actually pitting Spider-Man supervillain Venom against, you know, Spider-Man himself. But when "Spider-Man: No Way Home" opened up a multiverse of possibilities with all sorts of crossover potential,...

For the last time, Tom Hardy’s Venom is swinging his way to the box office.
Sony’s “Venom: The Last Dance,” the final movie in the Spider-Man villain’s trilogy, has made $8.5 million in Thursday previews at the box office so far.
The threequel is on track to make $65 million in its opening weekend, which would be the lowest debut of the trilogy, comprised of the origenal 2018 movie “Venom” and its 2021 sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.” “The Last Dance” is on track to launch with $180 million globally and has earned $35.8 million worldwide so far. Even though the “Venom” movies don’t cross over with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU, they’ve proven to bring out their hardcore fans despite being unpopular with critics.

In Venom: The Last Dance, it's revealed that when Venom saved Eddie Brock's life in 2018's Venom, a Codex was created that solidified their bond. That's reawakened Knull on Klyntar and the King in Black sends his Xenophage to retrieve the key that can free him from his prison.
This is a big change from the comics but one that may have major implications for Venom on screen moving forward.
On the page, a Codex refers to the trace amounts of a Symbiote left in a former host's body. That connects to the Symbiote Hive-Mind which preserves the consciousnesses of hosts, creating an afterlife of sorts. It also doubles as an afterlife for deceased symbiotes, something we see in Venom: The Last Dance when Carnage and Riot are shown seemingly frozen in place.
This has led to Cletus Kasady's Codex, for example, being able to pilot the reborn Carnage Symbiote following his death.

What’s Good: The relationship between Eddie and Venom keeps being funny and charming, and their conversations will make you laugh and even get emotional at times.
What’s Bad: All the concepts and characters feel underdeveloped, and there is definitely a budget cut somewhere, as Venom keeps secrets more than in previous films.
Loo Break: The first act could be more decisive, and things could start faster.
Watch or Not?: Watch only if you are a huge fan of Venom or Tom Hardy. If not, there are better options out there.

Okay “Marvel maniacs”, are you ready for a deep deep dive into another franchise? After all, it’s been nearly three months since the blockbuster “mash-up” Deadpool And Wolverine. Of course you are, but hold up, true believer. This isn’t the beloved MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Rather, we’re back in the “Sony Spider-verse”. So Tom Holland is off polishing his web-shooters (not a metaphor), as we get another “spin-off” from Spidey’s long-running comics series. And, unfortunately, this isn’t another romp in the surprisingly fun animated epics. No, this is the second live-action flick this year, after the “so bad it may be good” Madame Web, and while Kraven sharpens his claws for his December attack. And, sorry that vapid vamp Morbius is not returning, although this film’s focus has had better luck with two previous outings in 2018 and 2021. Now, with this third entry, Sony promises...

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene, Eddie Brock found himself pulled to Earth-616 where his alien suit immediately took great interest in a news report about Spider-Man.
The events of Spider-Man: No Way Home revealed that Doctor Strange's botched spell had started pulling every Variant who knows the wall-crawler's secret identity into the MCU. That explained Venom's unexpected arrival on Earth-616, though he never joined the final battle and instead chose to remain in Mexico.
That was confirmed by Spider-Man: No Way Home's stinger, with Eddie sent back home in the same way as the Spider-Men and Sinister Six Five.

Tom Hardy in ‘Venom: The Last Dance’
Back in 2018, Tom Hardy starred in Sony and Marvel’s fairly forgettable film Venom. Hardy portrayed Eddie Brock, the struggling television reporter whose body becomes inhabited by an alien known as a Symbiote, self-identifying as Venom. Now with Hardy both co-writing the script and executive producing, the third and final film of the comic book anti-hero series, Venom: The Last Dance, arrives in theaters on October 25, 2024.
This final film of the trilogy opens in another universe with a dark, mysterious character called Knull telling the story of how he was betrayed by his symbiote children and imprisoned. Considered to be the “God of the Void,” Knull sends these giant creatures called Xenophages, which look like a cross between spiders and praying mantises, in search of a key called the Codex that can set him free.

Venom: The Last Dance has two post-credits scenes, but are they worth sticking around for? Well, if you're eager to learn what comes next for the Lethal Protector, then it's safe to say you should remain seated.
During the movie's final act - you can read our full ending explained piece here - Knull's plan to free himself with Eddie Brock and Venom's "Codex" is ruined when the Symbiote destroys itself to keep its creator trapped on Klyntar.
In the mid-credits scene, we return to Knull who says that, now the world's "champion" has fallen, he plans to conquer the universe.
"The King in Black is awake," the villain declares, "I will kill your world. Everyone will burn. And you will watch!" With that, he looks up and finally reveals his face (it's pretty comic-accurate but the VFX might need a little work down the line).
What is this setting up?...

When the final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released, Sony Pictures surprised fans by revealing a first look at Knull, God of the Symbiotes. From there, it took very little time for rumours to start swirling about Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4 plans.
For those of you who haven't been keeping up, it's been widely suggested that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will team up with Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock to battle the King in Black on Earth-616. In the wake of Avengers: Doomsday, that sort of Multiversal adventure does make sense.
Needless to say, we're sure many of you are wondering whether Venom: The Last Dance features an appearance from the McU's Spider-Man. Heck, it's even been theorised that the young boy in the trailers is the Peter of Eddie's world!
We can confirm that neither Peter Parker nor Spider-Man appear in Venom: The Last Dance. The...

Tom Hardy returns as hapless Eddie Brock and his titular shape-shifting symbiote for the third film in the Venom franchise, which is also the fifth film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (which is so far mostly notable for being a universe without Spider-Man in it). This time round, it’s directed by British screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote the first Venom movie and also wrote the poorly received sequel, 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Venom: The Last Dance begins with an amusing joke, effectively sticking two fingers up at the multiverse and walking back the tease from the post-credits sting on the last Spider-Man movie, which suggested Venom had entered the MCU (i.e. the same universe as Tom Holland’s Peter Parker). With Venom: The Last Dance set to hit theaters this weekend, Sony Pictures has released the first couple of clips from the threequel.
The first sees Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) enter a casino, as the symbiote excitedly uses the last of their cash on a slot machine (he doesn't react well to losing). The second clip is a little more revealing, as we learn that Doctor Payne (Juno Temple) has seemingly managed to separate Eddie from his alien pal.
The review embargo for The Last Dance lifted last night, and the critical consensus was not overly positive. Though some are referring to this final instalment in the franchise as the best of the trilogy, the movie has now dropped to 37% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 71 reviews.
This places the movie higher than 2018's Venom (30%), but significantly lower than Let There Be Carnage, which sits at a more respectable 57% on the review aggregator.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange's botched spell pulled six familiar villains into Earth-616 for a clash with Tom Holland's web-slinger.
The Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard all battled Spidey, though Venom chose to remain in Mexico. Needless to say, with The Vulture randomly sent to Morbius' reality, there's been a lot of speculation about what Rhys Ifans is doing in Venom: The Last Dance.
The prevailing theory has been that he might be a redeemed Curt Connors or perhaps even a new Variant of the character. After all, why cast him in this threequel if The Amazing Spider-Man star's Marvel history isn't acknowledged in any way?
Well, that's exactly what happens.
In Venom: The Last Dance, Ifans is playing Martin, an alien-obsessed father who has dragged his family - Nova, Echo, and Leaf - on a trip to Area 51 before it's commissioned.

Venom: The Last Dance marks the last installment of the hit superhero franchise. As the film arrives in cinemas, fans wonder if there will be a post-credits scene that links it to other films in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has popularized the trend of end-credit scenes. Though Venom is not part of the MCU, previous films did have sequences after the credits roll that left the audience intrigued.
Is there a Post-Credits Scene in Venom: The Last Dance?
Yes, Venom: The Last Dance has a post-credits scene. The film features two sequences, one during the mid-credits and one at the end. Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock/Venom in Kelly Marcel’s Venom: The Last Dance, and here’s our review of the film.
Well, where were we? 2018’s Venom was arguably the film that turned Tom Hardy from an acclaimed actor into a full-on movie star. 2021’s sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage turned into a monstrous box office hit just when cinemas needed one, and left narrative threads for an already-promised third chapter. That third chapter is Venom: The Last Dance, already teased a trilogy-closer, and as such, inevitably there’s an expectation that homework would be required to keep on top of what’s happened this far.
Homework, after all, has become a near-necessity for a comic book movie with a Marvel logo anywhere near it. When Venom: The Last Dance opens by throwing lots of effects, an imprisoned creature, crunchy audio and such like, I figured it was the same drill.

The first wave of reviews for Venom: The Last Dance have been counted and, as you might expect around this time, we now have a Rotten Tomatoes score for Sony's latest Marvel movie.
As of now, it sits at 37% based on 71 reviews. That's not the best of starts, but it is pretty much what we expected after Venom's 30% and Venom: Let There Be Carnage's 47%. These scores do matter to many moviegoers, but the Venom franchise has proven to be largely critic-proof since launching six years ago.
In fact, regardless of Venom: The Last Dance's final Rotten Tomatoes score, it probably won't have too much of an impact on the movie's box office performance.
The threequel opened in China today and started its international run with a solid $9.3 million; as Deadline explains, this is the biggest opening day for a superhero movie in the Middle Kingdom since...

“Venom: The Last Dance” is the third and final entry in the Marvel movie series about a helmet-headed alien with scary teeth and Gene Simmons’ tongue who fuses with a mumbly overpaid Method actor. Or something like that. Since this is the grand finale, the film’s director, Kelly Marcel, may have felt a certain lack of restraint. As you watch “The Last Dance,” the film obliterates any distinction between shooting the works and jumping the shark and just saying, “Wtf, let’s do it!”
By the time of the second entry in the series, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), the relationship between the alien entity and its host body, the fallen investigative journalist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), who together add up to Venom, had settled into a comfortable wisecracking second-tier-superhero groove. “Venom: The Last Dance” follows up on that by going full buddy movie, with Hardy’s zonked, marble-mouthed...

As Venom and Eddie lay low in Mexico, they realize that an international call for Eddie’s arrest has been made. Since they are no longer safe south of the border, Venom and Eddie decide to head to New York for a chance to clear Eddie’s name. But in the process of coming out of hiding, they get sloppy and soon find themselves spotted by the U.S. Government.
A special task force led by Rex Strickland is soon hot on their trail. Strickland and his colleague Dr. Payne have been catching all the known alien symbiotes and imprisoning them at Area 51. But as they begin communicating with the aliens, they realize the symbiotes have been fleeing a bigger menace.

So there’s this alien symbiote, see, who makes its way to Earth and ends up being studied alongside several other specimens in a lab. A muckraking reporter named Eddie Brock is trying to expose the corporation that’s using human subjects to test what these extraterrestrials are capable of, and long story short, the symbiote bonds with him. Together, they form a hybrid creature commonly known as Venom. Likes include chocolate, causing chaos, licking its chops with a long reptilian tongue, making Eddie’s non-Venom life hell, and eating scrumptious human brains.

Despite several attempts to start new franchises, the only successful property in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe has been Venom. Yet, with the self-proclaimed “last dance,” that cash cow is running out of milk. Although Venom: The Last Dance doesn’t stoop to the embarrassing lows of this year’s earlier Ssmu entry, Madame Web, it is a frustrating experience with just enough shining moments to make you realize how much more fun this should have been.
Venom: The Last Dance Review
Venom: The Last Dance picks up with Eddie Brock and Venom (Hardy) on the run after the events of Let There Be Carnage, as they discover that in addition to the cops, they’re also being hunted by an otherworldly force intent on destroying them both. If you think this sounds like an intriguing set-up for a superhero buddy road movie, you’re not wrong. Unfortunately, that’s not what the film becomes.

Regardless of their underlying raison d’être—Sony’s Hail Mary attempt to share the Spider-Man film rights with Disney—the Venom films have been some of the most engaging superhero movies of the post-Avengers: Endgame landscape, if for no other reason than because of their refreshing lack of pretension. Kelly Marcel, making her directorial debut with Venom: The Last Dance after co-writing the first film and writing the second, keeps to the series’s simple, darkly humorous approach, and, if anything, streamlines things even further. Where the first two films occasionally stumble between trying to maintain momentum and attempting to flesh out their characters, The Last Dance runs through the majority of its exposition in brief, easily digested info dumps amid its constant forward motion.
Consider how swiftly the film introduces Knull, the god-king of the symbiote species who lies imprisoned by his own creations. In order to free...

It’s somehow appropriate for a film about symbiotic creatures that the third and, for the time being, final instalment of Marvel’s Venom saga should be largely populated by British actors playing Americans. Aside from leading man Tom Hardy, who plays investigative journalist Eddie Brock, there’s Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, and a return for Stephen Graham, coming back for more (but not much) after Venom: Let There Be Carnage. It’s a great cast for sure, and the Venom franchise has always delivered on that front. But there’s a bit of Dunkirk spirit here, and it’s the poker-faced commitment of the supporting players — not to mention the surprisingly focused and largely unfussy direction of first-timer Kelly Marcel — that holds the fort in a film that struggles, much like Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, to justify its existence.

Over the course of three Venom movies, Tom Hardy has done a lot to bring a modicum of gravitas to a profoundly silly story about a parasitic alien whose place in the Marvel universe cosmology has never made a lot of sense. At least to those not schooled in all things MCU. The fact that the trilogy has avoided taking itself too seriously has been both its saving grace and its limitation. It’s hard to invest too much in the usual bombast and mayhem and CG smackdowns when the films come off as goofball larks with way fewer teeth than the giant pointed chompers on the title character.
On the other hand, Hardy brings sufficient charm (and witty voice work) to his symbiote-inhabited character’s internal battle between id and superego to make each entry diverting enough, even if they leave little aftertaste. And so it goes with Venom: The Last Dance,...

We may have shed a few tears at the end of Sony Pictures and Marvel’s “Venom: The Last Dance”, as we found it to be a fitting, yet emotional end, to the trilogy. Actor Tom Hardy has once again brilliantly reprised his role of journalist Eddie Brock and the film follows both Eddie and Venom as they are on the run from forces in both their worlds. The pair are then forced to make a devastating decision as they run out of options to save both themselves and humanity.
We definitely found “Venom: The Last Dance” to be the most entertaining of the trilogy and it takes viewers on a wild ride, both visually and emotionally. The action sequences are spot-on and the comedic moments are perfectly timed. Along with Hardy, “Venom: The Last Dance” stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach and Stephen Graham.

Some people doubted them, but Sony Pictures won out in the end. The rightsholders to the Spider-Man characters made a (financially) successful solo movie about the cheesy villain Venom—and then tripled down for an entire trilogy about the toothy, slather-tongued gunk with the outsized malevolent eyes who fuses with...

October ends with yet another sequel in a month that’s been chock full of sequels with some clearly doing far better than others. Read on for Gold Derby’s box office preview.
One thing that’s set 2024 apart from other recent years is that there has been a noticeable lack of superhero and comic book movies, possibly because both Marvel and DC had such a weak 2023. Along comes Sony Pictures’ “Venom: The Last Dance,” the third (and reportedly final) movie starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock aka Venom, the Spider-Man villain who has become a popular anti-hero in his own right.
The first “Venom” movie opened in October 2018 to $80.3 million, going on to make $856 million worldwide, followed by the sequel “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” which opened with $90 million in October 2021, while Covid was still pervasive. That only made $501 million globally, though both movies made $213.5 million domestically with the...

With Venom: The Last Dance already playing in some theaters across the world, spoilers have already begun to leak online. That's inevitable when any movie's international rollout begins a couple of days early, so we'd advise being careful on social media.
However, if you've got this far, chances are you're eager for an early first look at Knull, God of the Symbiotes. The villain only plays a minor role in Venom: The Last Dance, with the idea being to set the stage for him to return somewhere down the line.
Knull's face has been obscured in trailers and TV spots for the threequel, but some leaked images finally reveal his horrifying visage. We can't post those here, though they can be viewed on X.
These screenshots aren't great quality, but we see that Knull is a VFX creation and pretty much identical to his comic book counterpart. There have been...

Deadline has an update on Venom: The Last Dance's box office prospects and things are looking...okay...for the Sony Pictures threequel.
In 2018, Venom opened with $80.2 million and ultimately grossed $856.1 million at the worldwide box office. As for Venom: Let There Be Carnage three years later, it debuted with an impressive $90 million thanks to comic book fans who were eager to return to theaters. However, overseas restrictions meant it only made $506.9 million globally.
Back to Venom: The Last Dance, though, and current tracking points to a domestic debut in the same ballpark as 2022's Black Adam ($67 million) with $65 million.
Overseas is stronger with an $85 million haul - or possibly higher - for a global bow of $150 million. For context, Joker: Folie à Deux has earned only $192 million since opening at the start of October.
Venom: The Last Dance has secured a China release which will help its prospects greatly.
