- Claude Rains separated from wife Isabel Jeans three times, reuniting twice. He finally filed for divorce on grounds of adultery when she miscarried Gilbert Wakefield's baby. She admitted the adultery during the divorce and later married "Gilley" Wakefield.
- Elegant, courtly British character actress long on the stage who played a couple of top roles in Alfred Hitchcock's silent films, Downhill (1927) and Easy Virtue (1927), then went to Hollywood and settled into a number of grande dames, for Hitchcock (Suspicion (1941)) and many others.
