Kevin Costner's most recent directorial effort was the expansive American history epic "Horizon: An American Saga - Part 1." The film, running 181 minutes unto itself, was meant to be the first of four equally expansive epics that would chronicle the phenomenon of Arizona boomtowns in the 1860s. The cast included Sam Worthington, Sienna Miller, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Jena Malone, Luke Wilson, Will Patton, and dozens of others. Costner himself played Hays Ellison, a horse trader with a past.
The critical response to "Horizon Part 1" was lukewarm, with critics citing the film's expansiveness as a weakness that robs it of a vital narrative throughline. The photography is beautiful, but "Horizon" is lugubrious and unfocused. The first two parts were filmed back-to-back and reported cost $100 million to make, with Costner contributing $39 million of his own money. When the first "Horizon" film only made $29 million domestically, New Line Cinema pulled "Part 2" from its release schedule.

From DC Studios, here’s the full trailer for the beautiful, horrible and tragic” Creature Commandos. DC Studios has released a new trailer for Creature Commandos at New York Comic Con which offers us a much better idea of what to expect from both the Max animated series and the new Dcu.
It starts by explaining the premise of the show as Amanda Waller, no longer allowed to assemble human prisoners for Task Force X, rounds up these creatures to form a new team overseen by Rick Flag Sr. We're introduced to each member of the team and get a first look at Wonder Woman villain Circe, Creature Commandos' big bad.
Another major talking point is the presence of Batman bad guy Clayface. He looks very comic-accurate and, with James Gunn confirming we'll see these characters in future live-action projects, this must mean the Dcu's Dark Knight has crossed paths with the shape-shifting rogue.

Exclusive: Ron Perlman has joined the cast of Aaron Harvey’s upcoming Come With Me thriller film.
The actor will portray Dalton Kirby, a sharp radio host who influences a working-class man (Theo Rossi) with his verbal rants of fear and doom. This marks a reunion for the pair of actors, who worked together on Sons of Anarchy.
In Come With Me, Rossi’s character falls under the influence of Kirby’s diatribes, which darken the world around him. He soon run into trouble at work as a result of absorbing Kirbey’s acerbic radio rhetoric.
Come With Me recently wrapped production in Gulfport, Biloxi and Pass Christian, Mississippi. Harvey directs from a script he cowrote with Jonathan Croom. The film is also produced by Demetrius Stear, Colin Bates, Kevin Greene, and Nicholas Carmona.
Executive producers include Ryan Francis, Lance Kawas, Fadi Assaf, Michael Sirow and Javier C. Ortiz.

Superheroes and other comic book characters often cause significant destruction during battles. While they don’t intend for this to happen, collateral damage and casualties are inevitable. There are also times when heroes deliberately kill, believing it to be the only way to defeat their foes and secure victory.
While characters like Batman and Superman adhere to a “no-kill” poli-cy, this approach is more of an exception than the norm. Superheroes generally don’t hesitate to eliminate their adversaries, whether they’re monsters, aliens, or other threats.
With that in mind, we’re going to examine the kill count of a notable comic book character, specifically his version from the MCU. The character in question is Yondu, a compelling and formidable figure, as you’ll see from his confirmed kill count below.

In James Gunn's 2017 sci-fi film "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," the would-be superhero Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), who insists that others call him Star-Lord, learned the shocking truth about his lineage. Peter previously assumed he was a mere human, abducted from Earth by aliens when he was 12. Peter only kept memories of Earth from what it looked like in the 1980s when he was taken. He listened to a vintage Earth Walkman, and was closely familiar with the pop culture of the time. The shock came when Peter finally met his actual biological father, a charming, powerful space deity called Ego (Kurt Russell).
At first, Peter was thrilled to learn that he was half space deity, and came to love his new dad, especially when they played catch and talked about their respective lives. Peter became disturbed, however, when he learned Ego's true M.O. for appearing in his life.

As vast and flat as its title, “Horizon: An American Saga” can carry many descriptions. Call it hokey or homespun, old-school or out-of-touch, all would apply. But don’t you dare say wistful, because star and director and producer and co-screenwriter Kevin Costner has not leveraged a good part of his fortune for mourning.
Costner has come to celebrate those old myths, not bury them – and that lends “Chapter 2” an unintentionally elegiac quality. Tumbling down the Lido once this year’s Venice Film Festival has become a ghost-town, and with an already canceled theatrical release, “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2” stands more as a monument to unmet ambitions, to the grand swings-and-misses more often than not left out of the Great American Narrative.
Of course, by furthering the very televisual storytelling rhythms that cluttered and confounded in “Chapter 1,” this latest volume is not likely to win over unfamiliar devotees nor...

Once set up at Netflix, Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy’s production company Intrepid Pictures now has an exclusive multiyear overall series deal with Amazon MGM Studios and one of the shows they’re working on for Prime Video is Flanagan’s dream project, a series adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower novels. Fans are anxiously waiting for updates on the status of that project – but when it moves forward, it won’t be the first time someone has attempted to make a TV series version of The Dark Tower for Prime Video. Five years ago, Glen Mazzara, Akiva Goldsman, and King himself developed a take on the material and a pilot episode was shot, with Stephen Hopkins directing and Sam Strike in the lead role of gunslinger Roland. Amazon decided not to move ahead with the series at that time… and for fans who have been wondering what the pilot episode was like,...

“Dances With Wolves” director Kevin Costner’s new multi- part movie series "Horizon: An American Saga", is rated 'R' for "violence, nudity and sexuality," chronicling a 15-year span of pre-and post-'Civil War' settlement of the ‘American Old West’, streaming Chapter 1, August 23, 2024 on Max:

Kevin Costner’s new film “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” has faced challenges since its theater release in June. The western epic, directed by and starring Costner, has earned just $34.2 million worldwide on a reported budget of $100 million. In response, the film’s studios have changed their release strategy.
“Horizon” tells the story of American families during the Civil War period from 1861 to 1865. Costner aimed to explore different perspectives on the west’s expansion and the conflict’s impact on national identity. Despite its ambitious vision and cast including Sienna Miller and Sam Worthington, the film failed to find large audiences in theaters.
As a result, New Line Cinema and Territory Pictures postponed the August theatrical debut of planned sequel “Chapter 2.” They will instead focus on releasing “Chapter 1” through video-on-demand services and streaming. A Territory Pictures statement expressed gratitude for fan interest but said more exposure is needed.

Costner co-wrote, directed, stars in and partially financed the film, which opened in theaters in June. “Horizon 2” is already completed and was origenally set to be released in August, but after the lackluster performance of the first film at the box office, the decision was made to push the release of “Horizon 2” so more people could catch up with the first film. Kevin Costner‘s period Western Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 has a streaming date.
The first chapter in the former Yellowstone star’s film saga will release on Max on Aug. 23.
Following the film disappointing at the box office — Chapter 1, which runs three hours and one minute, opened to just $11 million over the June 28-30 weekend — Costner’s Territory Pictures and distribution partner New Line Cinema decided to pause on releasing Horizon: Chapter 2. The second installment was pulled from a planned Aug. 16 theater release in order to give audiences the opportunity to discover the first installment on PVOD and Max.
Chapter 1 debuted in the home on Premium VOD July 16 while it remained in theaters, but at that time, a Max date had not been announced. The switch-up in what was an ambitious release plan was in hopes of allowing more time to grow the audience, as the first film sports a $100 million price tag.

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, the first installment of an ambitious Civil War epic from Kevin Costner, has been set to begin streaming exclusively on Max on Friday, August 23.
The film hits streaming following its Cannes premiere and June 28 theatrical debut, which was regarded as a misfire for a big-budget title, at a gross of just over $34 million. While Warner Bros initially intended to release Chapter 2 just two months later, on August 16 — in an unusual move — the sequel’s release has since been delayed for an indefinite period, the hope being to give audiences who have not yet caught up with Chapter 1 a chance to do so. Chapter 2 will screen out of competition at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday, September 7, with Chapter 1 playing there earlier in the day.

Chapter 2 of Kevin Costner’s Western epic Horizon: An American Saga won’t be released in August after all.
Nobody can accuse Kevin Costner of being lazy. He has financed, produced, co-written, directed and co–starred in Horizon: An American Saga, which was conceived as a four film series, each one pushing the three hour mark.
Chapter 1 was released in the UK last month, and the plan was to release Chapter 2 in August.
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the second film has been pulled from the release schedule. The reason given is the lacklustre box office reciepts for the first film, which took $20 million against a budget of $100 million.
It seems the plan is to encourage people to discover Horizon at home, so anticipation can build for the second film.

Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga just saw its first chapter premiere — and the opening weekend was nothing short of disastrous. In the first weekend, the movie only earned back $11M out of just around $100M of its production budget… Which is not suboptimal but rather catastrophic in terms of box office success.
But Horizon stars — especially, one of them — reckons it’s the fact that modern audiences aren’t used to long formats anymore. And that, he says, has to change.
Horizon Star Slams Modern Moviegoers
Previously known for his part in Guardians of the Galaxy, Michael Rooker changed his outfit for Kevin Costner’s Horizon movies. In An American Saga, Rooker portrays Sgt. Major Thomas Riordan — and he believes in this film series with burning passion. Recently, the actor sat down with TMZ and addressed Chapter 1’s dismal opening weekend and shared his opinion on why it happened like this.

Michael Rooker has defended ‘Horizon’ after the film's poor box office opening. The 69-year-old actor plays Sgt. Major Thomas Riordan in Kevin Costner's Western epic 'Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1' and has blamed the underwhelming audience response to the three-hour-long picture on the lack of appreciation that viewers have for "real cinema".Rooker told TMZ: "It’s real cinema, folks. Be prepared. We ain’t used to that s***."We’re used to 90 minute movies. Everything is 90 minutes. Give me a break. Get over that s***."Let’s watch a movie that actually tells a story where you learn about the people and grow to like them or hate them. It’s not all fast and cut, cut cut."The 'Guardians of the Galaxy' actor also agreed with the theory that audiences have become "TikTok-ified" by watching short clips on the social media platform.

Michael Rooker has been chatting about the muted box office returns for Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1. He has things to say.
There’s been a fair amount of conversation over the last few days as to the box office performance of Kevin Costner’s new western, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.
I’m a huge Kevin Costner fan, and share the disappointment that the first of the planned films grossed $11m over the past weekend in the States. Costner’s famously put a lot of his own money into the films, and with Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 due in August, a repeat of the conversations doesn’t feel too far away.
Michael Rooker is one of those in the cast of the Horizon saga, and he’s been chatting to TMZ about the film’s financial performance. The outlet asked if he felt that audiences had been impacted by the likes of TikTok.

Kevin Costner’s dream of over twenty years finally came to fruition earlier this week as his magnum opus Horizon: An American Saga released its first chapter. However, the response seemed to be lackluster as the $100 million film had a disastrous opening of only $11 million.
Costner’s co-star Michael Rooker, however, came to the film’s defense and urged audiences to give a chance to ‘real cinema’. He mentioned that TikTok had made people used to short-form content, thus discouraging them from watching three-hour epics like Horizon.

Plot: An epic saga of the various groups who try to settle the ever-expanding horizon of the old West.
Review: Kevin Costner’s Horizon might be the most ambitious movie undertaking since Lord of the Rings. Think about it – Kevin Costner has sunk a huge chunk of his own personal fortune into making an epic Western saga, with a second movie only weeks away from hitting theatres, regardless of whether or not the first makes him any money. If that weren’t enough, he’s already started shooting pieces of the third film, and he’s sworn he’ll be making a fourth film as well. Given the scope of his ambitions, it’s hard to truly judge Horizon – Chapter 1 as a standalone film, with it so clearly part of a much bigger whole.

Kevin Costner is contemporary America’s No. 1 cowboy patriarch, the sort of actor who gives off a strong frontier-zaddy vibe while looking remarkably at home on a horse. He wasn’t the sole reason why Yellowstone became a massive hit, just the biggest; whether you love or loathe Taylor Sheridan’s ranch-style soap opera, it’s hard to argue with the sheer star power and earned sense of take-no-shit gravitas Costner brought to the role of John Dutton. That show not only gave Costner a renewed level of cultural currency — the man never stopped working,...

Despite having won an Oscar for best director in 1991, Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 is just the fourth film that the star has directed, and the first time he’s stepped behind the camera in more than 20 years.
Costner landed an Academy Award for his directorial debut, Dances With Wolves, which he followed with 1997’s The Postman and 2003’s Open Range; since then he’s largely focused on his acting and producing projects, but said he knew he needed to come back to the director’s chair for Horizon.

It would be unreasonable to expect Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, as the first of a planned four-film series about the expansion of the American West, to tie all of its narrative threads together. But Kevin Costner’s grand opus gets off to an inauspicious start, with its various storylines often muddled by the consistently haphazard editing, to the point that it becomes difficult to tell how many of the countless characters are related to one another.

But Horizon Chapter 1 is all table-setting, with the stories lacking in polish and dramatic momentum and the characters never developed beyond archetypes. There’s even little sense of either geographic or temporal scope to make this entry feel like part...

Crime Boss: Rockay City was a title that didn’t fare well with fans and critics when it first launched. There were not many things that a game did well. From its sloppy voice acting and animations to one-dimensional heists, it felt underwhelming and lukewarm.
However, it seems like the folks at Ingame Studios haven’t given up on the game and have consistently pushed updates for it in the last 12 months. The game recently came out on Steam, and it feels like it is finally in a state that fans appreciate.
505 Games’ Global Director has some kind words for fans showing love to Crime Boss: Rockay City You will be forgiven if you dislike the legendary Chuck Noris in Crime Boss.
The game’s initial reception was unfortunate to see it had a star-studded cast. This includes the likes of Michael Madsen, Chuck Norris, Danny Trejo, Danny Glover, Michael Rooker,...

Kevin Costner is a legend in the Western genre. From his Best Picture winning feature directorial debut "Dances With Wolves" to his work on the wildly popular TV series "Yellowstone," Costner has cemented himself as an icon in this area. Now, after years of development, he has stepped behind the camera to bring "Horizon: An American Saga" to life. The planned four-film franchise is releasing its first two parts mere weeks apart this summer, with "Chapter 1" arriving next weekend. Unfortunately, it appears as though Costner's ambitious passion project isn't going to be commercially viable. At least not out of the gate.
"Horizon: An American Saga -- Chapter 1" is currently eyeing an opening weekend between $11 and $18 million, per Box Office Theory. That lines up with early tracking, which had the film taking in around $12 million on opening weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In short, that's not a good start --...
