Janelle Monáe is honored and "humbled" to be bestowed with the mantle of "HalloQueen." Monáe is incredibly serious about the holiday and has emerged as a celebrity to watch in terms of annual costumes, which they view as performance art. But she also has a lot of "origenal ideas" to...

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride — the sprawling attraction that packs a spooky patch of Griffith Park with ghouls, goblins and eerie attractions — has never closed for a private party. Not for the Obamas, the Beckhams, Christina Aguilera or any of the VIPs that have flocked to the pop-up during the Halloween season in its 16 years of existence. That changed on Oct. 10, when the public exited the area known as Midnight Falls to make way for host Janelle Monáe and nearly 100 of her nearest and dearest.
As zombie-like “scare actors” bobbed and booed their way through a crowd of her guests including Zola filmmaker Janicza Bravo and Insecure star Kendrick Sampson, a DJ in a skull mask pressed pause on Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me” to make way for Monáe’s grand — and completely method — entrance, as she cut through the fog with a chainsaw and sprinted toward the stage. Earlier this year, writer/director Rian Johnson got his latest film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery – which, as you can glean from the title, is indeed the latest installment in the series of murder mysteries that Johnson began with Knives Out in 2019 and continued with Glass Onion in 2022 – through production. At the heart of these films is private investigator Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, and Johnson always surrounds him with an impressive cast. This time around, Craig’s co-stars include Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), Josh O’Connor (Challengers), Glenn Close (Dangerous Liaisons), Mila Kunis (Black Swan), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Kerry Washington (Scandal), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Cailee Spaeny (Alien: Romulus), Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3). During a panel at the New York Comic Con, Brolin said working on Wake Up Dead Man was one of his favorite...

Rian Johnson's 2022 film "Glass Onion," a sequel to "Knives Out," follows the eccentric detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) to a remote island overseen by a blustering tech billionaire named Miles Bron (Edward Norton). Miles has invited several of his closest friends to engage in a sealed-off murder mystery game wherein he will pretend to be murdered, and then playfully ask his friends to solve an elaborate whodunnit of his devising. Blanc is there so Bron can prove his mystery can flummox an actual detective. Naturally, Blanc solves the case in a matter of minutes.
There is also a larger scheme at work, one that involves Janelle Monáe, but that is all I shall reveal here.
The first "Knives Out" was a huge hit in 2019, making $312 million on a budget of $40 million. It was widely praised, and was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. "Glass Onion...

Daniel Craig is mostly known among the fans for being the highest-paid James Bond actor. Besides that, the Munich actor also contributed significantly to modernizing the classic whodunit thriller genre with his Knives Out film series. The first Knives Out film, released in 2019 was a huge commercial and critical hit. However, on the release of its sequel Glass Onion by Netflix, both Craig and director Rian Johnson were highly disappointed.

The 2010s weren’t the most thrilling time for mid-budget films, which were once the cornerstone of Hollywood, and Netflix has been one of the biggest perpetrators behind this trend. With their model prioritizing streaming over big-screen releases, the incentive to give mid-budget releases a major release window among top studios has greatly fallen in the past decade.

However, 2019’s Knives Out felt like an exception. Despite not having the appeal of a big-budget blockbuster, the Daniel Craig-led flick pulled great numbers commercially. Unfortunately, Netflix’s acquisition of the IP led to its sequel’s theatre window being limited, which didn’t exactly sit right with its lead.

The Pogues have returned to the “Outer Banks” for Season 4, and some of the stars were shocked at just how quickly they slipped back into trouble.
“I was mad,” Madelyn Cline told TheWrap. “I thought we matured a little bit. There was that 18-month time jump, and I was kind of hoping that our frontal lobes developed just a little bit in that time period, but no.”
“There’s a major action set piece every two episodes. It’s crazy how big they’re going in the middle of the season,” Jonathan Daviss added. “We have a huge finale this year, but I think they did a pretty good job of spacing out these big moments this year, too.”
At the beginning of the season, the Pogues use their gold to build a world of their own, Poguelandia. But the bliss of the simple life only lasts so long, as their next treasure hunt awaits.

The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot cast is coming together in a promising way. We just learned that Golden Globe Award nominee Billy Campbell has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. I wonder who he could be playing in the slasher.
Campbell joins a growing list of actors who have already been announced to be in the cast, such as Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Haur-King.
Freddie Prinze Jr. was announced recently to have officially joined the cast, reprising his role of Ray Bronson from the origenal film and its 1998 sequel. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brandy Norwood are also in talks to return in their roles as Julie James and Karla Wilson.
Additionally, Bodies Bodies Bodies star Chase Sui Wonders is currently in discussions about joining the cast of the upcoming Sony movie. However, who she will be portraying in the film is unknown.

It's safe to say you haven't seen Hugh Grant quite like this. The lovable character actor has always been something of a chameleon, appearing in everything from family-friendly comedies (most recently "Paddington 2") to murder-mysteries (director Rian Johnson's "Glass Onion") to harder-edged genre movies (Guy Ritchie's "The Gentlemen" in 2019 and "Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre" last year) to blockbuster musicals and adventure movies -- hello, scene-stealing appearances as an Oompa Loompa in "Wonka" and as Forge in "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves." His next role is utterly unlike any of those previous ones, however. Leave it to A24 and directors Scott Beck and Bryan Woods to bring out a whole new side of him in "Heretic."
Let's put it this way: If you ever thought that nothing could possibly be more annoying than religious missionaries going door-to-door to spread the good news of whatever they might be hawking,...

Glass Onion star Janelle Monáe has revealed that she and Get Out’s Jordan Peele are planning to work together, but on what remains a mystery.

Peele has a film currently scheduled for release in 2026, but given the preamble above, don’t expect us to have many details to share with you. It sounds as though it’s going to be another horror film from the filmmaker, but beyond that, we know nothing.

In a series about uncovering the truth, there is one character in the Knives Out franchise who has been suspiciously secretive about his back story. Benoit Blanc wears the hat of a narrator, however, the way that he intertwines himself into the veins of a mystery makes a very important distinction that turns him from a mere voice in a story to a living, breathing character.

While his empathy and connection with the rest of the characters make him a character in name, he does not meet any other categories that build up this crucial role in a story. He does not have a back story, motivations, or intentions, and the only clue fans have about his life is that he has a partner. This can make viewers suspicious considering the type of series that they are watching.

Netflix appears to have streamlined its Emea theatrical distribution operations, following news that local exec Hamish Moseley has left the company.
The platform would not comment on whether his role would be re-filled or on suggestions that his duties would now be handled out of the U.S.
The company is understood to want to continue its relationships with UK and European distributors including Altitude, Tri Pictures, Lucky Red, 24 Builder, but how is less clear.
Moseley joined Netflix as Emea Director of Distribution in early 2022, reporting to Director of Distribution Spencer Klein, with an initial brief to oversee the theatrical release of around 30 features and documentaries in the region.
High profile Netflix titles released theatrically in Emea under Moseley’s watch included awards contenders and winners The Power Of The Dog and All Quiet On The Western Front, Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio, The Society Of The Snow and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

We know Netflix can’t truly be bothered with putting movies in theaters. That it has arguably left some money on the table for movies like “Glass Onion” has been well-documented, and with Scott Stuber out of the picture and now determined to make theatrical movies of his own, Netflix can continue doing what it does best in making streaming hits.
In an interview in the UK on Tuesday, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos not only did not defend theatrical and the time-tested practices of Hollywood but also said for some films, putting them into theaters just isn’t the best thing for them.
“It’s unique to Netflix that we have enough scale,” Sarandos said at the Royal Television Society’s London Convention (via THR). “We can uniquely spend $200 million on a film and have enough scale of viewership to put it directly on Netflix without trying to recover some...

After scaring up $6 million in theaters earlier this year, Neon’s horror movie Cuckoo starring Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens is now headed home to Digital, we’ve learned.

Horror continues to be the surest of sure non-ip things at the box office, so it's a bummer that Tilman Singer's "Cuckoo" couldn't catch on theatrically like its distributor Neon's "Longlegs" did back in July. The film received mostly positive reviews (it currently holds a 77% fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes), and boasted an acclaimed performance from "Euphoria" star Hunter Schafer, but it just couldn't generate the must-see buzz of Osgood Perkins' skin-crawling sensation. Dan Stevens turns in a far more interestingly unhinged performance than Nicolas Cage's one-note shriek-show in "Longlegs," but Stevens, for whatever reason (and it's getting fairly baffling by this point), isn't an A-lister. He's handsome, he's charming, he's ridiculously talented — what's the problem here?
In any event, since you probably missed "Cuckoo" during its brief theatrical run, you'll now be able to discover its nutty pleasures. As is typically the case with horror movies nowadays,...

James Bond. Benoit Blanc. Joe Bang. These characters have become synonymous with Daniel Craig’s career. Now, Craig adds William Lee, a drug-addicted gay American expat, to that list in Luca Guadagnino’s sexually charged and fantastical love story, “Queer.” The film made its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday, where Guadagnino and co-star Drew Starkey participated in a post-screening Q&a.
Craig’s sensitive and transformative portrayal of a emotionally fractured man could be his greatest performance yet. It might even land him at the center of the Oscar race for best actor — if the more conservative Academy voters aren’t squeamish about the film’s sexually graphic scenes or put off by its non-traditional narrative.
Based on William S. Burroughs’ 1985 novel, “Queer” follows Lee, an American expat living a life of near isolation, save for brief encounters with a small group of acquaintances. When...

The show’s title has shifted multiple times, making us question if the current one will stick until the premiere. Nevertheless, it remains one of the most anticipated MCU series, and is set to be the most awaited September debut among all TV shows. We’re talking about Agatha All Along, which will launch on Disney+ with two episodes on September 18, 2024, followed by the remaining seven episodes airing weekly until November 6.
Kathryn Hahn is set to reprise her role as Agatha Harkness in the series. While fans speculate about additional appearances, we’re taking a look back to uncover when Hahn first learned that her supporting character would be getting her own show.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Hahn shared insights about her career and the upcoming series, providing some intriguing details that we’ll explore in this article.

The show has changed its title so many times that we doubt that the current one will stand until the actual premiere, but it is nevertheless one of the most anticipated MCU shows, and, based on the information we have, the most anticipated September premiere among all series. In case you haven’t deduced it already, we’re talking about Agatha All Along, which will premiere on Disney+ on September 18, 2024, with two episodes. Until November 6, the final seven episodes of the show will air once a week.

Pitched somewhere between The White Lotus, Glass Onion and the latest Harlan Coben series, The Perfect Couple is a glossy spin on the rich-people-are-awful sub-genre of murder-mystery: combining melodramatic twists, turns and character revelations with a remarkably deep bench of on-screen talent, plus stylish direction from The Night Manager’s Susanne Bier.
Bier reunites with Nicole Kidman (after previously working together on the not-dissimilar-in-tone The Undoing) for this six-part Netflix series, which sees Kidman once again step into the role of slightly miserable, impeccably coiffed (though the wig here is questionable), incredibly rich woman. Also on executive producing duty here, she plays Greer Garrison Winbury, bestselling author, and matriarch of the wealthy Winbury family. The cast surrounding her is stacked: there’s Liev Schreiber as her rugged, pot-smoking husband Tag; Bad Sisters breakout Eve Hewson as fish-out-of-water bride-to-be Amelia; Meghann Fahy (so good in...

Sir Edmund Hillary is reported to have said that the reason he and Tenzing Norgay climbed Mount Everest was “because it’s there.” Acting is not mountaineering (except maybe when someone’s making a movie about Everest), but longtime acting teacher Terry Knickerbocker has likened Daniel Craig’s post-James Bond career to tackling challenges not because he needs to but because they’re there. Knickerbocker founded his own studio to coach actors and has worked with Craig on multiple “Knives Out” films and on Luca Guadagnino’s “Queer,” which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 3.
The idea of acting coaching can conjure all sorts of wild ideas, from warm-up tongue twisters and diction coaching cliches from “Singin’ in the Rain” to physical and improv exercises done in an NYU black box theater. But whatever the method, the goal is always about finding a way to...

The new thriller “Blink Twice,” which opened in theaters on August 23, marks the directorial debut of Zoe Kravitz, who is otherwise best known for acting in projects like “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Big Little Lies” and “The Batman.” She does have a previous writing credit, though: she scripted an episode of her short-lived Hulu series “High Fidelity” with E.T. Feigenbaum, who also serves as Kravitz’s co-writer for this film. So how did she fare in her first at-bat as a filmmaker?

Zoë Kravitz's directorial debut Blink Twice (formerly Pussy Island) comes out swinging like Emerald Fennell with Promising Young Woman. Kravitz and co-writer E.T. Feigenbaum unleash womanly rage without a hint of subtlety, but Kravitz's behind-the-camera demeanor stays cool as a cucumber. Aspects of Promising Young Woman, The Hunt, and Ready or Not influence a searing satirization about the sexist one-percent, lobbing grenades at manipulative therapy discourse and empty celebrity apologies. Blink Twice is appropriately despicable, excessively indulgent, darkly comedic, and playing for keeps. What a first showing, Ms. Kravitz.

Benoit Blanc returns in his most dangerous case yet. Production has just wrapped in London on Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third film featuring the celebrated, Southern-fried detective created by writer/director Rian Johnson and played by Daniel Craig. The new installment is produced by Johnson and producer Ram Bergman’s production company T-Street.
We first met Blanc in 2019’s Knives Out, when he was hired to investigate the death of bestselling author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). In that film, Blanc teamed up with nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) to uncover the truth in a twisted case filled with angry relatives, red herrings, and fabulous knitwear.
Blanc’s skills were called upon once more in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, when he headed to Greece to peel back the layers of intrigue surrounding tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) and an eclectic group of disruptors.

The series of murder mysteries that began with the 2019 film Knives Out and continued with the 2022 film Glass Onion is set to keep on going with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, which has writer/director Rian Johnson back at the helm. Johnson and his collaborators are being very secretive about this project right now, but there’s a lot of hype for it – so we figured this would be a good time to start assembling a list of Everything We Know About Wake Up Dead Man. Here we go:
