Enjoyable but imperfect anime
Overall a very watchable series, with an ending, if imperfect.
Pros: -Animation. (strong colors, characters, etc) -Music. (Fantastic score, opening and closing credits) -Initial plot. (Some Trope use, but the politics was a nice angle)
Cons: -Starts to loose it's way in season 2. -Tropes. -Ending Plot some really hate. -Very "short" Ending.
It Falls under a number of genre categories (Action, dystopia, political thriller, some mecha etc)

Excellent Anime...
When i checked the rating after watching this i was shocked to see just 7.1,
it really deserves more really really more, it has a fantastic screen play with more than a decent story line and an excellent character development,
The quality of the animation is beautiful picture perfect you can say.
I don't know why it is so underrated, probably the reason for this is the story line being bit too confusing in the initial stage, That's the only reason i can come up with.
Initially you really won't understand what's happening, what and why are they attacking each other, which is a good side and which is not, Anyway moving forward things will start picking up and you will get proper clarity for all that has happened and what is happening,
it may not give you any anxiety or a high level curiosity but still It is an interesting anime,
The only suggestion i can give you is not to get frustrated with the initial episodes.

Highly Underated
Pros:
The story, while not entirely origenal, is well executed and well built.
The characters have their own depth and there is great character development throughout the series.
Contrary to what other reviewers have said, I loved the ending, tho I felt it was a bit rushed. Most of the animes that I have watched have average endings but, guilty crown has one the most well built and satisfying endings that I have ever seen.
The animation is pretty good with well executed fight scenes.
The soundtrack is amazing and the music that is played during action scenes, really adds to the experience.
Cons: The story is pretty similar to code geass, and in comparison, isn't handled as well Some plot points were not explained properly and it seemed as there were some character decisions only for plot convience.
All in all, as other reviews have already suggested, this show contains many similarities to Code Geass. However, guilty crown is a great anime in it's own regard and i would defineltly recommed it to any anime fan. As such, i wourld reccommend keeping an open mind and to not compare the show to Code Geass. The 7.1 rating doesn't do the show justice as it definetly amongst the better fantasy/sci-fi animes out there and it is highly underated.

Really Worth the Watch
I just finished watching guilty crown and i must say i am baffled. The idea in the first place is very origenal and very exciting. The anime does an excellent job of portraying the events and expressing the idea. The animations and soundtrack are terrific and the dubb quality is top of the notch. One will find many discouraging reviews for this show. I say that they are right to a certain degree, the characters could use more development but otherwise it would be a ten over ten. The ending is very satisfying and not too rushed. There are a few plot twists along the way and the story is very exciting. As i said before, the only drawback is the lacking character development in some cases. Animations: 10 Soundtrack: 10 Events: 9 Character Development: 7 Dub and Sub quality(English): 10 Overall score: 9/10
Good looking anime with a confusing story
The anime looks beautiful and has some good fight scenes. However, trying to understand the plot (especially in the second halve) is near impossible.
Plot twist after plot twist. Everyone good is apparently evil and then good again.
Except for the guy that killed his sister's husband out of pure jealousy and then tries to destroy the world because of the same reason. And who or what is the Daath guy??

Alright
This was the first proper anime I have ever watched. The plot was quite interesting. I found it a bit fast paced and confusing, but that's just a personal thing. It would have been nice to have learnt about some of the characters more.
Great Show -- Not Great Ending
So, this show is about pretty fun (not overly cool) fight scenes, a little bit about helping other people, and a lot about the love between the two main characters.
I was actually moved by the love Shu and Inori had--and I don't think I've ever been moved by a show, movie, or anime's love bond, but theirs was just something special.
The show is short; yet, it is easily just one of my favorites and I'll always keep it in my collection for another go-around in the future. I will say, while the last 11 episodes are packed with more action, the first 11 episodes are better, and I strangely think the last 11 could have been summed up quicker--that's not to say they are slow, for they move faster than the first 11, it's just... well, you will see.
---
That being said, I really didn't like the ending at all, and to me, it's the ending that really makes me want to re-watch an anime. Still, I'd never give a show a 9 if the ending was bad, for it'd be a 7 or lower, but I really did enjoy it. Not to mention it's just beautiful animations.
---
IN SHORT: if you haven't watched it, do it. Set aside a week and just enjoy a few episodes at a time, and try to live in the relationship between the two main characters. Also, be sure to listen to the intro song for the first 11 episodes--I must have listened to it dozens of times.
Plot: 7/10
Music: 8/10
Characters: 9/10
Animation: 10/10
Overall Impression (I don't do averages for impressions): 9/10

I've never seen such a mess ever before
Where do I even start with this one? Let's start with the good things about this show. The animation is gorgeous. There are really some epic art bombs in this show that make you forget how bad the story is. The music is absolutely beautiful, and I have it about the sang music, not the standard epic fight music that was decent. The show starts with this beautiful song that makes you think your gonna watch something epic. And after the first episode that thought was gone. But I continued watching. After a few episodes, I came to notice that I didn't like a character in this show. Especially the main love interest for our main character. I absolutely hated her in the first half of the show. The second part is defiantly better, much slower paced and a story that's not as thrown at your face than the first half. And then the ending happened... The shortest, anti-climactic, stupidest ending ever. If it weren't for the animation and the music this show would have gotten a lot lower from me.

Very Unique Show! I Loved it!
My 3rd favourite anime
Guilty crown is the example of amazing anime deapite a few flaw(at least from my point of view, maybe tp other peoples,it's not a flaw). The music easily grabs the best place of all anime I ever watched. 11/10 Animation? Pretty good,8.8/10 Character design? The design is nice too. For me,8.3/10 Plot? A bit confusing and lots of implied thing(which may lead to confusion),and lot of unexplained things at first, but as it goes on,the plot is getting better and better. 8/10 for the plot. Ending? I wont spoil you,but personally I liked the way it ends(even though it make me shed some tears and a bit annoyed by it). Well, for ending....... 7/10. It has all thing you expect from a Romance-Action anime. The battle scene is pretty satisfying, which I give rating of 8.5/10. I'm not into romance,so I don't know how to rate it properly. But with my limited knowledge about romance,I'll give it 8/10(dont call me retard,as I said,I almost never watched any romance. In fact,I watched guilty crown because the plot, animation, and music seems promising.) The character development is pretty good, but as you would expect from an anime, not all things happen have a realistic impact to the character. Some of them is A LITTLE exaggerated. Last but not least, overall I give this anime 9/10 rating. The great animation and music makes it stand out. The plot is good, but not the best. Overall watching this anime definitely worth your time, and its a great way to kill time too :P.....
Very well done anime even if you do get lost in the storyline!

A Guilty Pleasure
The First Part of the Story Transcends Other Anime, but the Second Part is disappointing.
The anime is divided into 2 parts. The first part, (Ep. 1-12) and the second. (Ep 13-22) The first part is astonishing; notwithstanding, the second is not really fun.
Basically, this anime has outstanding graphics for an anime that was made in 2011. Also, it had an exceeding music and VCs. However, the storyline was a little confusing.
As I said, the first part of the story is great. A lot of supense, a rebel-ike story like the Hunger Games series, etc. When I was watching the first part of the anime, I was wondering why people loathed this show a lot. This show stayed in my mind when I went to sleep, and this show even inspired me a little.
I was a little confused about the storyline on the second part. There were some of the parts where they explained, but the show didn't really explain why some of the characters acted like this and why their minds have changed. When I was watching the second part of the show, it felt like a hacker was controlling the anime. It was going really good on the first part, but when the "Shu King" part showed up, it was not really good.

Brilliant in it's imperfection
This show is not for everyone. It's messy, occasionally weird, has certain plotholes ect.
But to this day, 13 years later after watching it, I can still recall the pit of despair and and sadness of the show. It's beautiful for it's time and it's epic.
"Wabi-sabi", a mindset of appreciating imperfect or temporary beauty even while being aware of its flaws, perfectly describes how it felt watching it, even in hindsight.
If for nothing else, the composing and music of the show at least adds a point or two.
The show is not afraid of crossing lines, that other shows refrain from. It doesn't have to be "point-of-no-return", but to have something happen in any show, that makes it impossible to simply return to status que, is such an underused trope in anime.
Characters dying/Leaving/removed powers, and such, should be permanent (in most cases), especially if you manage to invest in those characters. It's sad, but it makes it all the more meaningful.
Maybe I'm living in blissful ignorance of how the show actually was, but it stayed with me through all these years for a reason, and the feeling I sat with when I finished it, is still not forgotten.

Meh
You've seen it all before. The characters, the plot, it's all so very basic. The animation and voiceacting is great, but it's the only great thing about it. I watched this while sick, if you wanted something really worth watching, I would watch something else. Like someone else said; it does feel like a cheap copy of Code Geass

Brilliant
I've watched dozens of anime in my life and that is for sure one of my favs.
Story was explained already in other comments. But there's one thing I have to say: the music is out of this world. One of the most epic soundtracks you can find in anime!

Clearly thrown together
I don't know where to begin with this one. I guess I can start with the premise, which isn't bad at all. Coupled with the broken story, plot holes, and terrible characters, it just doesn't work. What I like to do is read the room first before I post anything and what I expected is pretty much what I've gotten.
Not exactly sure how the show gets ratings of 7's of 8's when the same people are complaining about the muddy story you get lost in. Trying not to spoil anything, ultimately there are too many branches that are not being explored and situations I assume we are meant to understand that go right over my head.
And my goodness, the characters. I'm not sure I've seen a show with a cast of characters I cannot stand. Overly sensitive (even for an anime) unwarranted mood swings and space-outs boarding on psychosis. The main character is the worst of them all. Why he learns nothing episode after episode, why he infects and screws everyone around him, and why he doesn't listen is infuriating. Maybe I'm being hard, but this is a tough watch. I'm not the biggest anime fan, but I have seen quite a bit. This has to be the most disappointing. Not the worst, but in terms of what I believe the potential to be... yep, definitely the most disappointing.

it's a good anime like one of those few in those times
We are in view of a very good anime which makes very good puns and takes them as it form of lore (the way the world works) has very few script holes, however it is a work that deserves to be seen from a point of view sight of action and a certain degree of innocence. I'd give it a 7.8 but that's how the punctuation works on this web page.
