Surprisingly Good
This one was surprisingly good.
If you're going to a movie with a hot blonde in a tight yellow dress on the poster - you better expect what such type of movies usually puts on the screen. You'll get your laughs.
Yet, Walk of Shame was so much more than just a slightly dirty comedy. It gave an insight to the life of LA area some might not realize there is. It showed how friendship is important and that total strangers are not necessarily wierdos and perverts.
And, of course, Meghan is a nice girl from Texas. That's great.
As a cat lover, I was mildly surprised to the problem that Banks' character has. So strange. I have the same problem with some dogs, so no big deal!

"When a crackhead gives you his crack, you have his heart right there."
Elizabeth Banks plays a local reporter who has a chance to move up to the big time but that's largely dependent on her making it to an interview. The problem is while she was having a one-night stand with bartender James Marsden, her car was towed, and now she's stranded in downtown LA with no car, no money, and no phone.
I really looked forward to this. I like Elizabeth Banks and it looked promising. The early parts aren't that funny but once the plot kicks in and she has to find her way out of "the hood," it picks up. It reminded me somewhat of After Hours or maybe even Adventures of Babysitting. Banks is very good, as well as being particularly hot in this. The supporting cast is really what makes it work. Kevin Nealon is fun as a weirdo helicopter reporter. Bill Burr and Ethan Suplee are great as a couple of clueless cops. But the highlight for me was the trio of Pookie (Alphonso McAuley), Hulk (Da'Vone McDonald), and Scrilla (Bob from Walking Dead). I don't want to spoil too much about their scenes but all three are terrific, especially McAuley who talks like a Fat Albert character come to life.
This is a funny comedy with a generally pleasant tone that I liked. Yeah it's somewhat predictable and formulaic but no one's trying to reinvent the wheel here. It's a good way to spend an hour and a half. One little thing I wanted to mention because when it happened in the movie, I had to roll my eyes a bit. James Marsden's bartender character is revealed to not just be a bartender but also a writer. Why is it that movies always do that? Someone can't be JUST a bartender or a waitress or a mechanic -- they always have to be something more "respectable" on the side or they are aspiring to be something like that. Just once I would like one of these movies to feature a working-class character who is happy with their life and does not want to go to law school or own the company or become a big movie star. Because ultimately what they are saying is that Marsden is not good enough for Banks if he is just a bartender, which is shallow and sad.

Surprisingly Good
With the slew of "get drunk, end up in bad situation" movies that have flooded the industry, it was hard to get excited for this movie. I enjoy Elizabeth Banks and the trailers did seem funny. I just couldn't help but have that feeling of "been there done that". And that feeling is valid but it doesn't mean that the movie was bad, in fact, I quite enjoyed it.
The plot plays out like any number of movies in the genre. Main character gets drunk, wakes up in a bad situation and has to try and retrace their steps to get from point A to point B (point B often being supremely important). While the plot was predictable, it's what happens between point A and point B that matters.
Despite the number of movies similar, the director was still able to find some uniquely funny scenes to put Banks' character in. Some scenes that come to mind are an impound lot and a crack house. While not all scenes hit the mark, there was enough here to be worth a viewing. I also found the running gag about Banks' characters profession to be extremely funny.
So what make this seemingly mediocre film worth viewing? Two things in my opinion. Firstly, this is the first movie of this type where I actually felt for the character. I wanted her to get where she wanted to go and that kept me involved in the movie. Secondly, I appreciate the fact that we can have a movie like this without relying on extremely rude and crude scenes. Yes, there is profanity and some implied sex but in comparison to other films with similar plots (Hangover), this movie is tame. But that doesn't mean it's not funny as I feel it is able to remain funny throughout.
If you into movies like the Hangover, Hot Tub Time Machine, or Bridesmaids, then this is a must watch. If you love comedies then this is also a good bet. It may not end p being a movie you need to own but you can do much much worse than giving this movie a shot.

.. in fact the dress deserves casting credit
No matter what else is said.. the movie officially begins at the eleven minute mark when she puts on that 'can't hardly describe it' yellow dress. From that point on, it is the honest reason why you're staying watching this movie. Overall the film is cute, and has a chuckle or two (some scenes are in fact very funny).. but it's that dress sticking in your mind keeps you watching. That and the perfect hair... that's 'wanna own up to it or not' is the essence of this film. You'll watch all the rest, and not very long after will not easily remember any of it. But should the vision of that dress come back to mind, it'll bring back much more than you thought you'd ever recall.
Grils Night out
You know how it is: Strange things happen when you least expect them. But this is of course more like a female (tweaked) version of Hangover. The situations occurring here are a crude mix of what might have happened to someone on many different nights. Elizabeth Banks is a good sport, having to endure and go through a lot. If you want to see one, there's also a message about strong women here (which is not a bad thing at all, considering the stereotypes we get to see here).
Clichés and jokes may not always mix well, but the passion of the actors involved (even if James Marsden is merely a bystander in this one as are most of the other in the Banks show on display) do help the movie to elevate above other comedies. Not much, but at least a little bit. Obviously comedy/humor is not something that will be viewed the same by everyone. Tastes are different and this might not be your movie to watch

Honestly a pretty good time
This movie is far from a masterpiece. It's pretty corny at times, and also has a couple of racist moments that are just glossed over. But ultimately, I enjoyed it. While some parts are hard to believe, watching the main character wind up in bizarre situations was entertaining enough. If you're looking for a chill comedy and don't have Oscar level standards, give it a shot.

Offensively unfunny.
I love Elizabeth Banks. She's one of my favorite comedic actresses and I was happy to see that she got a starring role in a comedy. Well technically she was a lead in Zack & Miri but in this movie it's all about The Elizabeth Banks Show. Literally. She plays a news reporter who spends a night out with friends, gets a little too drunk, goes home with some guy, then the next morning when she leaves to go to work she realizes that she left her phone in the apartment, finds out her car was towed, and of course that she left her purse in the car. So basically it's a walk of shame since everything goes horribly wrong for her and she has to get to work on time because some news execs are looking at her for a promotion or something. Let me just say I did not laugh once throughout this movie. I chuckled at a couple parts sure, but it was at stupid things like Bill Burr as a policeman telling a guy to drop his cookies, or Bill Burr calling a kid an asshole. Burr gets all of the good lines in the script basically - him and Kevin Nealon who barely gets 5 minutes of screen time.
Seriously, this is bottom-of-the-barrel humor. It's basically "hey look at that girl, she's totally hopeless and a lot of sh*t is happening to her." But yeah, that's not funny, and after a while you just start to feel bad for her. I mean, everyone in this movie is SO stupid. The police in this film are probably the dumbest in any movie ever, and they're usually pretty stupid in movies so that's saying something. I know it's a nitpick but holy crap there are so many things wrong with this movie. It's borderline offensive at times, like everyone thinks she's a hooker because she's wearing a dress and no matter how many times she denies it they still treat her like one. It's just uncomfortable to watch. And the dialogue is horrendous. Whoever wrote this movie needs to be arrested because it is just mind-numbingly awful. Some scenes left me like "wait... what was the joke? was that really it?" Every character in this movie is incredibly stupid. Frustratingly so. None of it is believable. Not one word coming out of anyone's mouth holds any merit. It's a garbage script and this should not have been green-lit. Seriously. Awful.
I have to give it a 2/10 for Elizabeth Banks. If nothing else, this movie proved that Banks can carry a movie as a likable leading woman. She was kind of typecast as the trashy girl, but the hot sexy kind of trashy, but still trashy. But here she's a good girl with a good job who gets dragged out to a bar with her friends and things just go wrong. She's a great actress and she's the only reason I kept watching this movie. She is gorgeous. She glows on screen, literally. She's in a bright yellow dress. She does what she can with the script but there's just nothing for her to do. It just isn't funny, and it's not her fault at all, or any of the cast for that matter. There are so many funny people in the supporting cast whose talent is wasted here. And James Marsden, what are you doing man? It's a filler character, a generic romcom lead, but with a lot less screen time. Everything in this movie has been done before, all of it is generic, all of it is filler, none of it should've been put on screen.
This movie made me feel bad for Elizabeth Banks, and I hope she scores a good script that can actually put her comedic talent to use. This was just a disaster. Horrendous film. The writers need to take a walk of shame right out of Hollywood.

A generic storyline and a wasted cast
The fact that the trailer which shows the most entertaining moments can perhaps be considered the film's strongest asset speaks volumes, as Walk of Shame comes across as a failed comedy with a tedious and overfamiliar storyline, one that focuses on a series of mishaps endured by an anchorwoman portrayed Elizabeth Banks. Although amusing at times, offering some funny and quotable lines, the film relies too heavily on its lead actress, as Banks' charm and appeal is what ultimately keeps the audience engaged. Sadly it is a typical and highly generic story told in a non-refreshing way, which hurts the comedic potential of the talented cast that was at the film's disposal. Along with the fact that it unnecessarily relies on an abundance of comedic stereotypes, Walk of Shame fails to produce any real excitement, and can be regarded as nothing more than an unfunny, mediocre and extremely formulaic comedy.

ALMOST HANG OVER!
To my delightful surprise, this movie proved to be one of the finest comedies I've come across in recent years. It had me laughing like never before, a refreshing experience after a long time. Meghan Miles delivered an outstanding performance, undoubtedly the best character in the movie. The pookie guy's hilarious accent served as the cornerstone of the comedy, leaving a lasting impression. The movie's humorous moments revolving around the crack house and pot were nothing short of a laugh riot. Yet, despite its comedic brilliance, the film remains highly underrated.
I find myself craving more movies of this caliber that can evoke such genuine laughter. This hidden gem deserves greater recognition and appreciation. It's a must-watch for anyone seeking a hearty dose of laughter and an unforgettable comedic experience.

Really good comedy with a great cast.
This movie was much better than I thought it would be. Elizabeth Banks is hilarious but I was concerned with whether or not she could carry a comedy by herself. Well in this film she didn't have to because the supporting cast around her was absolutely amazing and the hilarity of each moment in the film's plot progression was just great. James Marsden, Gillian Jacobs, and Sarah Wright were all fantastic and then factor in the comedic genius of Bill Burr and Alphonso McAuley and the cast was just fantastic from top to bottom. Is this raunchy comedy going to be for everyone? No, it's not. It's more of a guy's style comedy film with a female lead, which is probably why it didn't kill it in the box office or why the closed minded critics didn't understand it. That being said, if you have enjoyed previous Elizabeth Banks films, you'll certainly get some quality laughs here.
Walk away and save yourself the shame!
This film starts out strong with funny news clips and goes downhill after the first 30 minutes. I really like Elizabeth Banks and find her to be a very talented actress. This proves once again that talented actors alone do not a good film make. So much depends on the writing and script and in this case the poor writing and overdone script ideas sink this way before the end.
Since Ms. Banks does not have much to work with she's without a paddle here. The film becomes tedious about halfway through.
I saw people mention the similarity to "After Hours", but that film had a creative energy and didn't follow a normal "plot". This film lacks anything creative and is a by the numbers comedy.
The real shame is that this was made!

Funny enough
It was actually surprisingly funny throughout and Elizabeth Banks is great in it. It's a relatively stupid and simple plot line but still worth watching.

A Hodgepodge of Fun
"More like hood adjacent".
This fun little anecdote packs a lot of content into a simple concept.
There's an element of obnoxiousness casting a shadow over the whole thing even though the subtext is firmly on the right side. Shouldn't walking home after a hook-up be the most prideful thing ever?
As our likeable heroine races against the clock from A to B with limited resources, she finds friends and help when she least expects it and overall, this is a life affirming no-brainer.
This is certainly how I remember it; it's been a while now.
I guess it's trying to satirize how prejudice takes many forms or something, It's not the strongest element of the movie.

Funny, enjoyable and refreshingly adult
I watched this for a simple mid week film and was thoroughly entertained.
Banks was fun and likable, the situations that she got into and the characters that she met were funny but most of all I liked that the film wasn't trying to preach about how adults should be admonished for having casual sex.
Banks had some good chemistry with Marsden, she was prepared to have fun and she maintained her independence and dignity. You see a fair share of films where you feel they have to empower the women by bludgeoning you over the head with their right on attitudes.
Yet here was a girl who had a crazy night, had some wild sex with a good guy and wasn't going to feel guilty about it.
Props to her and props to the filmmakers for railing against the notion that having some carefree fun and sex needs to be prudishly frowned upon.

The Most Hilarious Movie in 2014 So Far
Personally, this has been a Banks week for me. Purely a weird coincident. Two nights ago, I had Man on Ledge which has Banks in it, last night I had Catching Fire with Banks in it, this eve I just watched Walk of Shame with Banks in it and tomorrow I plan to have Lego Movie with Banks in it. If it is not a cosmic level weird, not sure what is. I am not a fan of Banks. Not even familiar with her movies before.
Now, not much can be told about the Walk of Shame, other than this is pure gold comedy. And I am usually not a big fan of this genre.
The Good
The laughter starts from the first minute of this movie. There is no slapstick scene here. No forced humor, each scenes just flows naturally. The main antagonist, the female reporter, is just who she is going through the scenes. She does not even try to be funny which brings all the laughter.
The Bad
Not sure if there is a negative here for this is a comedy movie with common moral message: Just be your(good)self.
Overall
See this movie and you will feel much better after it. Maybe not fair, but cannot give it a ten since this is a light comedy movie, but totally recommend this as pure entertainment to cheer up the long day.

Funny but generic. Worth watching when you just want to relax and zone out. The scene with the drug dealers is great.
"I'm never doing shots again." Meghan Miles (Banks) is having a bad day. First she finds out the promotion she is trying for was given to someone else. When she goes home she finds her boyfriend has moved out and taken most of the stuff. Her friends show up to take her out and cheer her up. Meghan decides to leave early but gets stuck (literally) and meets Gordon (Marsden). The two wind up at his place for the night. When she gets a call the next morning informing her that she still has a chance at the job she is excited and heads home to change. On the way she has to deal with drug dealers (the best part), cops, kids, religious temples, an impound lot and the carpacolypse. This is a funny movie and I am glad I watched it but really it is kind of generic. Sometimes though it is nice to watch something that you don't have to think about and this is one of those movies that fits that description. Almost right away you know how the movie will end and you do stay one step ahead the entire time but you still laugh and enjoy yourself as you watch. There really isn't a whole lot to say about this other then it is a good time and it is nice to watch a mindless comedy every once in a while. Overall, funny but generic. Worth watching when you just want to relax and zone out. I give it a B.

If You Like Movies, You'll Definitely Hate This
First of all, no. Do not watch this, never. No. Acting, directing, writing are bad. Actually, there's no writing, only Elizabeth Banks walking at there, at there and over there with a tight dress. This is the story. Nothing else. I wasn't expecting a super story or nice twists, I was hoping a nice 90 minutes and a bit fun. But there are none of them. If you are super free and want to do something bad, watch this. If you love yourself a bit, go watch bathroom walls, comb your hair, pick your nose, you have endless options. Lastly, no. Do not watch this, never. No. Even Elizabeth Banks in a super tight dress cannot make this good.

Uneven, but pretty good
Elizabeth Banks does comedy well. Dialogue, reaction shots and physical comedy are all in her wheelhouse. Good thing she's up for it because landed on her shoulders and she carried it off. The story line is right out of the keystone cops. Updated for modern times, our Perils of Pauline heroine needn't be rescued. In fact, no one will even offer to help for most of the film. That's when Banks shines. Interactions with all manner of people on the fringes of society show her to be as vulnerable as they are...and it's all for laughs. Her scenes in the crack house (yes, you read the correctly) are particularly hilarious. Look for her face to face with Tig Natro too. Another bit of comedy happiness. Truth be told, some vignettes go nowhere. The cops in the squad car bits could have been eliminated for instance. But, overall this is a fun time in the hands of a skilled actress who can certainly pass for a comedian until someone better comes along.
