Last January, BBC crime drama Luther returned for what appears to have been its final season. But that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve seen the last of its eponymous detective. Leading man Idris Elba remains passionate about getting a Luther movie off the ground and at a press junket for the new season of his Sky comedy In the Long Run, Elba teased that he’s “this close” to bringing the character to the big screen.
“I’ve made it very clear that I’d like to see Luther come back as a film. And I can tell you this, that we are this close to making a film of Luther.”
With the regular series now finished, it’s possible more space has opened up to get a movie made. And if it’s as close to getting green-lit as Elba says it is, we may not be waiting much longer.

Back in January, there was some concern that the Snow White And The Huntsman prequel – simply called The Huntsman – would be rather lacking in the dwarfular department thanks to story directions and scheduling issues. Good news on that front! Nick Frost, who played Nion in the first film, will be back for this one, with Sheridan Smith, Rob Brydon and Alexandra Roach also signing on. This news signals that the likes of Ian McShane, Ray Winston, Johnny Harris, Eddie Marsan and Brian Gleeson are unlikely to return, though we’re counting none of them out given the change in Frost’s status.Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is handling directorial chores for this one, which finds Chris Hemsworth’s title character in the years before he first met Snow, and his early encounters with Charlize Theron’s beguiling, dangerous Ravenna. Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain are also set for the film, which will...

Harry Hill is to make his acting debut as Professor Branestawm in a BBC family comedy.
The 49-year-old comedian, who will be hosting a brand new version of ITV's Stars in Their Eyes next year, will play the absent-minded inventor in a family film adaptation of Norman Hunter's classic children's books by actor and author Charlie Higson.
The series of adventures see Professor Branestawm's eccentric creations causing chaos and mayhem in their wake, with disaster usually averted by his highly-strung housekeeper Mrs Flittersnoop and his loyal yet dim best friend Colonel Dedshott of the Catapult Cavaliers.
The hour-long special follows Mrs Flittersnoop's science-obsessed niece Connie coming to the rescue when jobsworth local councillor Harold Haggerstone tries to remove Branestawm from his quintessentially English village of Great Pagwell.

Got To Dance is about to kick off its finals week, so it's just as well we have a bunch of semi-finalists now, isn't it? The first team who'll be battling it out for a place in the final will be Ashley Banjo's contestants, who'll take to Earl's Court on Monday, August 25.
"This year's new format has meant that I am mentoring a contemporary group and even a couple of ballet dancers," Banjo said. "It has brought a whole new dynamic, but unlike the other judges I know how it feels - I have been in the exact same place as the contestants and had to work my way up with my dance group.
"It's nerve-wracking and a big responsibility being a mentor. There is so much talent and Got To Dance is one of those shows that's all about talent."
So who is on Ashley Banjo's team?...

Comedy Central is working on a pilot for a sitcom called I Live With Models.
The flatshare sitcom revolves around a "chubby British" 20-something called Tommy who finds himself living with three models, reports British Comedy Guide.
The character lives in a Miami apartment with the three young models after being discovered as a hand model and is thrown into their world.
The script has been written by Jon Foster and James Lamont, who scripted The Harry Hill Movie and are working on the second series of Cuckoo.
Although the sitcom is set in America the show will be filmed in Britain, and a pilot episode is set to be recorded at Pinewood Studios on July 24.
It will then be decided whether a full series of the comedy will be ordered.
Last month (June), Russell Howard signed a deal with Comedy Central where he will present two new shows, including...

Harry Hill will return to ITV in the future but not with his comedy review show TV Burp.
Peter Fincham, ITV's director of television, revealed that he is in discussions with Hill about ideas for a new comedy series and is "hopeful" of having an announcement soon.
Fincham told a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch that Hill will definitely not be reprising the popular TV Burp.
"He finds it an exhausting thing to do. He wants to do something new," he was quoted by Radio Times as saying.
TV Burp ran for 11 years, with the final episode airing in March 2012.
Hill explained at the time that he was bowing out of the show because "it took over [his] life".
He has since starred in The Harry Hill Movie and written the West End X Factor musical I Can't Sing!, which recently closed after two months of performances.

Simon Cowell encouraged Harry Hill to make 'I Can't Sing' ''cheekier''. The 'X Factor' musical - written by the 49-year-old comedian and co-produced by the music mogul -pokes fun at the 'X Factor' boss and former 'Spice Girl' Geri Halliwell, but Harry admits Simon quite enjoys the mockery. Speaking at 'The Harry Hill Movie' world premiere at London's Leicester Square on last night (19.12.13), the former 'TV Burp' presenter told Bang Showbiz: ''People said to me Simon would be controlling and he'll want to stop you from saying things but the reality is so far he's been nothing but supportive. After a zippy opening 15 minutes, the duff jokes and spoofs accumulate and everyone starts to look stranded on screen
Harry Hill is the man who can do little wrong. This deranged and ebullient comic, rarely seen without his undersized black suit and oversized white collars, exhibited blithely surreal tendencies from his first standup routines in the early 1990s. A move to mainstream entertainment occurred without compromise: rather than having to shape his humour to suit viewers of his ITV show Harry Hill's TV Burp, it felt as though the Saturday teatime sensibility had to bend to accommodate him. His skew-whiff commentary on You've Been Framed even transformed that deathly show into rewarding viewing. Having proved his skill at radio, TV, standup, painting and comic novels, he moves now into two new disciplines. We will have to wait until February to see whether I Can't Sing!, his West End musical about The X Factor,...

Harry Hill, Sheridan Smith and a giant hamster wearing a Christmas hat attended the world premiere of The Harry Hill Movie in London last night (December 19).
Smith, who plays Hill's love interest in the movie, arrived in a sheer red lace dress. She was joined by co-stars Hill, Julie Walters, and the hamster - voiced in the film by Johnny Vegas - on the red carpet in Leicester Square.
Speaking about her role as Shell Girl, the 32-year-old actress told reporters yesterday evening: "It took about four hours in make-up every day, so I'd get picked up at 3am and sit in make-up having all these prosthetic shells put all over my face.
"And I had to wear a fat suit all day, which was mental!
"We had these T-shirts on underneath that had iced water pumped through them because we got so hot. So today I'm like, 'Ah! It's nice and chilly!

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug (12A)
(Peter Jackson, 2013, Us/Nz) Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch. 161 mins
If the first Hobbit movie felt padded out, that didn't seem to put anyone off: its global box-office take was more than $1bn. But now all that protracted set-up is out of the way this middle section hits the ground running and barely lets up, as Freeman and his dwarves hack their way through a theme park's worth of action adventures to close in on the Lonely Mountain. It's a giddy ride, for sure, but we also get a fuller sense of Middle Earth's landscape and inhabitants. Oh yes, and there's a dragon…

Harry Hill and Sinitta have teamed up to record a spoof of 'Take On Me' for charity.
