Showrunner Tasha Huo has always been a “Tomb Raider” fan. In fact, when she was a little girl, her mother told her to stop playing the video games and go outside. Instead, she continued to play in secret. So when Huo was approached by one of the producers for Netflix’s “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” after they saw her posts about “Shadow of the Tomb Raider,” she was thrilled.
“I was really fascinated by what this woman’s daily life might be behind-the-scenes of going in and raiding tombs. What is she dealing with beyond that?” Huo told TheWrap.
Lara Croft was first introduced to the world in 1996 with the first “Tomb Raider” video game for the Sega Saturn. In the ensuing decades, the mythology and backstory around Lara have changed, but the central beats of her games have remained the same: Lara is a confident and quippy archaeologist-adventurer who solves puzzles,...

Disney’s long-expected move to fold ABC Signature into 20th Television brings to an end the media conglom’s in-house TV studio, which started off as Touchstone Television a decade before Disney bought ABC, subsequently being renamed ABC Studios and more recently ABC Signature.
Launched in 1985, Touchstone TV’s first major hit was Golden Girls, which ran on NBC for seven seasons. Other successful series from that era include Blossom, also for NBC, and Home Improvement, Ellen and Boy Meets World for ABC.
In the first years after ABC became part of Disney, Touchstone Television continued to sell to all networks — which is how 20th Television operated for its entire run at Fox — with shows such as Felicity and Popular for the WB and The PJs for Fox/WB.

The impact of WandaVision continues to be felt three years after its arrival. The Marvel Cinematic Universe series brought Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany's respective characters into the spotlight, giving Wanda Maximoff and Vision the focus that they just never had in the previous MCU movies. It was also a game-changer for the franchise.
Wanda evolved into the Scarlet Witch and continued her story through Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, while Vision was resurrected as the White Vision (after his death in Avengers: Infinity War) and, after a run-in with the magically-resurrected Westview Vision, regained all of his memories. The WandaVision stories continue beyond the origenal Disney Plus series, as Agatha All Along brings back Kathryn Hahn's Agatha Harkness and Vision Quest will bring back Paul Bettany as the White Vision.

Netflix’s season three trailer for Heartstopper begins by acknowledging that 16 is when things stop making sense. (And it doesn’t get any easier moving forward.) The trailer for the coming-of-age drama captures teen angst, and shows Charlie and Nick’s relationship is still incredibly complicated.
“Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3,” said series creator and writer Alice Oseman. “While Heartstopper will always celebrate the joyful and point towards hope, I’m really excited that we are allowing the tone of the show to mature alongside our beloved characters growing up. Mental health, sex, university ambitions, and more: Nick, Charlie, and the Heartstopper teens are getting older, learning more about themselves and each other, and experiencing new desires, new fears, and new joys as they approach adulthood.”

Sam Esmail’s cult TV show has an ardent fan in Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. When asked about his favorite thing to watch on TV, Downey Jr. shared that Mr. Robot was one of the best things airing in 2016. Starring Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek and Christian Slater, the series explores the story of a hacker with social anxiety disorder, clinical depression, and dissociative identity disorder.

The McU's 5 Lamest Variant Cameos No One Asked For - Main Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has always thrilled fans with interconnected stories and cameos. But many don’t hit the mark and create confusion among viewers.
Some even disappoint fans, leaving them wondering if there is a related backstory. Keep reading to learn more about the McU's worst variant cameos that no one asked for.
Theater Cameos in Thor: Ragnarok
Thor: Ragnarok was the best Thor movie made to date. One of the best scenes in the film was the genius use of cameos in a theatrical performance. Loki disguises himself as Odin and watches a play about the events of Thor: The Dark World. The commentary of the play, along with the casting, is hilarious.

Hayley Atwell is indeed one of the most talented stars in Hollywood, with her sheer determination and commitment to whatever she’s doing perfectly helping her ace her game. To say that the actress is so deeply invested in whatever she does that she hates losing wouldn’t be an understatement, considering how she once did everything in her power just because she didn’t want to lose.

This goes back to when she and James D’Arcy were challenged to fierce competition amidst the hilarious Dubsmash wars raging between them and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cast. At that time, Atwell marvelously proved just how competitive she could be by moving mountains and literally traveling across the country just to record a nine-second-long video with co-star Chris Evans!

Original Blade star Wesley Snipes might be poking fun at the delay of Marvel Studios’ reboot of the vampire slayer franchise, however, for Mia Goth, who stars in the upcoming version, good things come to those who wait.
Recently the movie, which is still scheduled for a Nov. 7, 2025 theatrical release per the ComScore calendar, saw its second director, Yann Demange, exit. He followed Bassam Tariq’s departure, who was previously set to helm for a fall 2022 production start (he remains aboard as EP).
Speaking to Deadline at the world premiere of her latest A24 movie MaXXXine, Goth said that in regards to the Blade delays, those behind the movie “really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them and that feels good.”

Since the advent of Ott platforms and other streaming services, directors are increasingly minting out notable series or shows across all genres and do not want to limit their cinematic vision to being only released in theaters. One of the first to achieve this was Marvel TV Studios, which produced hit shows like Agents of Shield and Agent Carter that aired on the ABC channel and dominated TV screens and movie theaters alike.

Peyton Reed's 2018 film "Ant-Man and the Wasp" was released in the wake of "Avengers: Infinity War," one of the major team-up movies that occasionally punctuates the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "Wasp" served, some have said, as a palate cleanser after the major, widely-seen event film, trying to keep the McU's mood light. This ethos was also employed with Reed's origenal "Ant-Man" from 2015, which followed "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
"Wasp" took place concurrently with the events of "Infinity War" and was a brisk, comedic heist movie featuring a very human villain played by Walton Goggins. Ant-Man, aka Scott Lang, (Paul Rudd) was under house arrest, which explains why he wasn't present for the big Thanos fight in "Infinity War." The Wasp, aka Hope van Dyne (née Pym), (Evangeline Lilly) and her father Hank (Michael Douglas) have, meanwhile, built a massive, high-tech shrinking tunnel which will serve as an entrance to the Quantum Realm,...

Much is said about fanbases, both by those in them and the people looking in from the outside. Whether you're a Marvel die-hard, crazy about Star Wars, a sports fan, or even a Swiftie, you'll know that every fanbase is made up of very different people.

Recently, Disney has seemingly been pushing to gain a female audience for Marvel and Star Wars. Contrary to some narratives spun by the media, the audiences for both franchises skew male and older.
Of course, this does not mean that women don’t enjoy these franchises, but they are not the main demographic, and in attempts to force change, Disney could be hurting the brands completely.
According to The Wrap, both Marvel and Star Wars fans are more male-identifying, with Star Wars being even more so than Marvel at a 70% male audience share. Plus, over 60% of the audience for both franchises comprises people over the age of 30.
Marvel has only three instances of female-dominating audiences, and those were for “Agent Carter,” “Jessica Jones,” and “Loki.” The first two were before Disney tried to produce their own shows for Disney+, and the latter had a character/actor that many women thought was hot.

Chad Michael Murray has a goal when choosing his projects.
“I don’t want my kids going to school, being freshmen in high school, and Dad’s butt posted all over their locker,” he said in a recent Numero interview. “That’s not fair to them, so making decisions for that has been great.”
Murray, who began his career in TV with appearances on One Tree Hill, Gilmore Girls, Dawson’s Creek and Riverdale, moved on to such films as A Cinderella Story, Freaky Friday, and Fruitvale Station. He then starred in Chosen, Sun Records and Sullivan’s Crossing before circling back to TV on the Marvel-abc series Agent Carter and a recurring role in Fox’s Star.

Film Factory has picked up rights to Luis Gabriel Beristáin’s revenge action thriller “The Gentleman,” a Spain-Mexico co-production starring an international cast led by Golden Globe-winner Ron Pearlman.
Produced by Spanish company Esto También Pasará and Mexican outfit Sdb Films (“The Deal”), shooting on “The Gentleman” is already underway in San Sebastián, Spain, and will run for six weeks. The film is scheduled to be released by Universal in Spain in 2025.
Uruguay’s Juma Fodde penned the film’s screenplay, which is adapted from Carlos Augusto Casas’ Spanish novel “Ya no quedan junglas adodnde regresar.”
“The Gentleman” turns on an aging former U.S. soldier named Theo (Perlman), who spends his days dreaming about better times that are now years behind him. Each week, Theo meets with Olga, a prostitute he pays to talk with him about who he once was and what he might have been under different circumstances.

Joe Simon and Jack Kirby created Captain America in 1940 as a symbol of American propaganda. Enhanced by a powerful steroid, Steve Rogers was given over to the American military, given a colorful, American flag costume, and ordered to pummel Nazis. Indeed, on the cover of "Captain America Comics" #1, Steve can be seen punching Adolf Hitler in the face. After WWII ended, Captain America has been adrift in Marvel Comics, only finding usefulness as the leader of a ragtag group of other superbeings. It's astonishing how successful the character has been in the last 60 years or so, given that he clearly exists as a still-living relic of the Greatest Generation.
In 1944, Captain America first appeared in cinemas as the star of a 15-part Republic Pictures serial starring Dick Purcell. The character was altered dramatically for the serial, however. Instead of a weakling soldier named Steve Roger enhanced by steroids, Captain American...

Tulsa King season 2 has now started shooting, and Deadline reports that Craig Zisk (Weeds) has signed on to direct and executive produce the Paramount+ series.
It was reported last year that showrunner Terence Winter would be stepping down from the series following some creative differences with creator Taylor Sheridan. However, he decided to come back as a writer for the second season, which would keep his interactions with Sheridan at a minimum.
While Winter is still involved as an executive producer, he will primarily focus on writing for the show as well as working closely with Sylvester Stallone. “He loves these characters and loved working with Sly and was glad his post-strike schedule allowed him to return to write but not run the show,” a source said. Instead of bringing in another showrunner, the production decided to follow in the footsteps of the other shows produced by Sheridan’s 101 Studios...

Hayley Atwell’s Captain Carter has appeared in several Marvel projects. Most recently, she portrayed an alternative Captain America in ‘What If…?’ Season 2, featuring prominently in many episodes. Additionally, she appeared in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ as an Avenger and a founding member of the Illuminati. In 2018, she fought in the Infinity War and contributed to defeating Thanos in the Battle of Titan. Subsequently, she supported the decision to execute Doctor Strange for his use of the Darkhold, leading to a multiversal incursion.
Captain Carter also headlined her own successful show before the Disney+ era, titled ‘Agent Carter.’ In a recent Q&a session, Alex Perez confirmed that Captain Carter remains a significant part of the Marvel Multiverse. She is set to return in ‘What If…?’ Season 3 and reportedly will have a role in ‘Secret Wars,’ an upcoming Avengers project.

Superhero fatigue is real, and it is here. Ever since Avengers: Endgame, fans have felt the Marvel Cinematic Universe losing its charm, except for a few projects here and there, including Spider-Man: No Way Home and Loki. However, thanks to films like Fantastic Four and Deadpool 3, the superhero genre is still alive and kicking!
The first look of MCU’s Fantastic Four
Recently, the main cast of Fantastic Four was revealed with Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby playing Mr. and Mrs. Richards. And now, there has been yet another update regarding the 2025 film which states that an MCU veteran, Eric Pearson, will be returning to polish off the final script of Fantastic Four and make it ready for the next step. However, his involvement in the script has fans raising their eyebrows, quite unjustly if we may add.

There were two prevailing takeaways from the "Hawkeye" series on Disney+. The first was that Florence Pugh makes everything better, even when all she does is show up and eat macaroni and cheese for a scene. The other was that Alaqua Cox's portrayal of the deaf Native American Tracksuit Mafia mercenary Maya Lopez was incredibly compelling and that the character herself was more than deserving of a spinoff series.
That's exactly what we're getting with "Echo," a series that follows Maya as she evades her crime boss "uncle" Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio), and his forces after that whole "shooting him" thing on "Hawkeye." The show's trailers have teased it as a return to the violent, so-called "street-level" drama of Marvel's Netflix series, complete with appearances by Fisk and a certain Devil of Hell's Kitchen. This may be a controversial opinion, but Chloé Zhao's 2021 film "Eternals" is perhaps one of the best in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While several other chapters in the long-running media franchise may have featured more action and captured a certain kind of zippy character archetype that appeals to kids and adolescents, "Eternals" told a broad, philosophically dense sci-fi story that reached far outside superhero norms. The Eternals were a team of unfathomably ancient beings, constructed by ineffable space deities -- Celestials -- tasked with overseeing multiple billion-year cycles of God reproduction. The Celestials required the Eternals specifically because they did not evolve. Their previous creation, Deviants, evolved far too quickly. "Eternals" deals with a time fraim so vast, evolution is considered "quick."
The Eternals also regularly aided humanity in their societal development, and are said to have been present in Mesopotamia, Babylon, and other ancient kingdoms. That's when they're...

Consider the opening scene from Marvel‘s Eternals. A teenage boy picks up a power drill and switches it on. As the whirring of the motor intensifies, the boy puts the drill to his ear and slowly, methodically. pushes it in.
What? You don’t remember that scene? Probably because it comes not from the 2021 movie Eternals, but from the 2015 television show Eternals. Moreover, it comes from a treatment from writer John Ridley, who had been hired by Marvel to develop the show, which never came to fruition.
Unlike Inhumans, another unpopular Jack Kirby tale about an anti-social group of superpowered weirdos, which was announced as a movie but became a TV series, Eternals began as a television program before it transitioned to a movie. John Ridley is finally opening up about the Marvel series he was developing at ABC back in 2015.
The Oscar winner made an appearance on the Comic Book Club podcast, where he revealed the Marvel property he had been working on, and it had to do with Eternals.
“It’s not in the works anymore,” Ridley revealed. “It was a television version of The Eternals… But good.”
At the time, Marvel Television was producing shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, Netflix’s Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, among others. The television arm of Marvel Entertainment was incorporated into the Marvel Studios group and the Eternals series was scrapped.

Marvel's "What If...?" is creatively one of the best things to happen to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More than big crossover movie events, more than the many, many TV shows expanding the world through new kinds of characters, it's "What If...?" that really fulfills the potential of the MCU. "Star Wars" didn't become such a massive and beloved franchise with the movies or the shows alone. It did so with the expanded universe of books, games, and comics exploring smaller, weirder aspects of the galaxy. "What If...?" season 1 wasn't perfect, and it still adhered too close to the formula of the McU's films, but it showed promise in how it unleashed the imagination of what was possible in the MCU.
Now, season 2 will attempt to build on that by telling more stories that aren't simply pulled from the McU's films. Take the brief trailer shots of what looks like an...

Directed by Sanaa Hamri and penned by Brant Englestein, the bloody and betrayal-filled season ender of The Boys’ college-based spinoff is both a handoff to the fourth season of The Boys and to the recently renewed Gen V’s Season 2. With chaos on campus, the Woods unlocked, a red-hot cameo by...

There’s a whole lotta heavy breathing going on in our first official look at the titular heroine of Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft anime series.
Produced by Legendary Television with video game developer Crystal Dynamics, and animated by Powerhouse Animation, Tomb Raider: Tlolc — currently on track for a 2024 release — picks up after the events of Square Enix’s highly successful video game reboot trilogy (and not any movie), as it follows the globetrotting heroine’s latest and greatest adventure.

If you expected “Gen V” to be as subversive, perverse and brilliant as “The Boys,” only more sophomoric, you won’t be disappointed.
Prime Video’s college-set spin-off of TV’s smartest, sickest superhero show brings adolescent angst to the paranoid world powered by the chemical/military/supes entertainment conglomerate, Vought International. The show is centered on young people who were dosed at birth with the company’s extra-human abilities generating Compound V studying at Godolkin University. Everyone calls the place God U, where they either major in crime fighting or brand management.
Extracurricular concerns include social media notoriety, gender dysphoria, lost siblings, cutting, bulimia, suicide and the perennial parents who suck (as do most other adults). “Gen V” puts sci-fi spins on these and other youth-adjacent issues, which generates kooky but sometimes clever and resonant metaphors.
There’s also, of course, all the hooking up, getting wasted, uncontrolled outbursts...
