Entertaining show despite technical flaws
Sorry, folks, but I watch TV to be entertained. Particularly when I am viewing Sci-Fi shows, I suspend reality and accept certain premises that may be technically flawed. By doing so, I'm not over-analyzing every nuance trying to figure out if it's consistent with current scientific knowledge.
With that said, I am apparently one of the few (along with my husband) who truly likes Timeless. Each week I look forward to the historical period in history where the characters will go. Besides that, there is the underlying story of Flynn-- who he is, why he's so protective of Abigail Spencer, what his true motives are (good? evil?) as well as who or what Rittenhouse is and why it wants to change the course of history.
I genuinely hope NBC gives this show a chance. There hasn't been a good time travel show for a while (I remember watching Time Tunnel as a kid!) Perhaps there's room to improve Timeless, and I think a lot of successful shows start out somewhat shaky, but I'm already a fan.

"HOPELESSLY HEARTWARMING", Profoundly Philosophical, Ravenously Researched, & Just Utterly Effing BRILLIANT.... ALL AROUND!!!!!
A Netflix -{ MICRO }- Review ; This's the first TV serial to get me watching -{ "TV" }- again ; in 5 LONG YEARS!
______________________________________________________
Rufus: { with 'considerable' ire }: "I'm in the damn Stone Age ( ! ), but, man, I hope you live a long, long life. Long enough to see Michael Jordan dunk, Michael Jackson dance, Mike Tyson punch. Really, just any black guy named Michael ( ! )".
______________________________________________________
I literally -just- finished the -whole- First Season of "TIMELESS", and was just SO-O-O Wowed by what I saw, that I felt like I simply -HAD- to put "a few words" down here, before advancing -ANY- further. { There are two seasons in all, of which Season-1 comprises 16 episodes, with Season-2 being made up of 11 }. In the interests of 'full disclosure', however, it would be only fair for me to tell you ..'at the very get go'.. that if you're someone who's easily nonplussed by fairly in-depth explorations of well established -Actual- events thru ( -relatively- ) recent human history, then you are more than likely -NOT- going to appreciate this show, I'm afraid. As for me... well, I'd like to offer a "A HUGE, HEARTFELT" Thank You to Abigail Spencer, Matt Lanter, Malcolm Barrett, Sakina Jaffrey, Claudia Doumit, Goran Visnjic & Paterson Joseph, ( Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus, Denise, Jiya, Garcia & Connor Mason, respectively ) ...for inspiring, enthralling, humbling, uplifting and EXCITING me in the way that I NEVER thought a "TV series" ever could! What an utter, & welcome: 'Revelation'!
I would've also loved to thank all of you SUPER TALENTED directors one by one, but as there are "All Of 13!" { -benign chuckle- } of you, I guess I'm just going to have to settle for the 2 'Leads' { i.e the 2 of you who have those ( relative ) super majorities of '5 episodes directed' each ; in addition to always being the -Very- first two to be listed }, namely Greg Beeman, & John F. Showalter. You've well-&-truly reinvigorated the notion of "..kept me on the edge of my seat right the way through!!!!!.." But -{ Most Of All }- Thank You not only for providing us with that VERY TOUCHING little "glimpse" into what the 'VERY-BEST( ! )' of inter-race, inter-sex ( and basically straight up "human -to- human" ) relations could -{ Potentially }- look like here on Planet Earth ( with -Pointed- reference to some of the -Main- characters, of course ) ; but also for all the SUPERB -HISTORICAL-, and indeed, POWERFUL SOCIO -ANTHROPOLOGICAL- insights which you've so graciously and wondrously provided us massively lucky viewers with, ( that, upon -careful- observation ), reveal themselves as being -{ Literally }- . . . . all over the place!
Summary: Kindly bear in mind that although this television programme is officially rated "12", according to -this- very platform, it is really -{ Not }- suitable for children. And so, pursuant to having gotten that rather important little -detail- off my chest, all that remains to be done before I quickly end this little -review- of mine, is to enthusiastically say the following. "There is no doubt -{ Whatsoever }- in my mind that I absolutely, positively -need- to be Awarding, and indeed Re-warding... this sheer small screen "Delight" with my 'trademark' "Personal -Grand- Slam" score of "25 Marks Out Of 10 Marks" ...and it comes with a veritable -Ton- of "Love and Appreciation", at that. YES, IT'S REALLY -{ THAT }- GOOD . . . . . OH, JOY!!!!! "

Thank you for the conclusion
I absolutely love this show. I'm disappointed that it was canceled. There were so many facts and people that I found myself looking up after watching each episode of this wonderful show. The conclusion wrapped things up and ended properly. I'm glad enough of us enjoyed the show and NBC granted us this 2 hour finale. Hopefully there will be more in the future:)

Kudos to propmaster
Historical details on this extraordinary time travel show always hit the mark. On a recent episode involving the Civil War, for example, a Confederate is shown using a LeMat revolver, completely correct and something only a really savvy propmaster would provide. Big kudos to him or her and the show.

Solid..... And it works
Canada makes lite beer. Now it makes Lite Sci-Fi.
After recent hits like Eureka and some of the Stargate sagas, frankly I was expecting more. Not that Timeless is bad, it is simply not great.
Your humble reviewer remembers watching the series Time Tunnel in 1966 (IMDB it!) and now 50 years later this is the closest thing I have seen to a knockoff.
The irony is that the Frozen North has for many years specialized in "period" movies and TV -- a fact many viewers are not aware of - so someone figured out how to kill two birds with one stone. A show with a proved (if dusty) concept using sets and costumes that the Canadian warehouses are full of.
The writing is not spectacular, nor the acting, nor the special effects. On the other hand, I have been a fan of Abigail Spencer since she played Scotty in Suits and, generally, there are worse ways to spend an hour.
This is sci-fi ... lite. And it works.

Wishing season 3 would start NOW!!!
I fell in love with this show right away. At first right it reminded me of Quantum Leap , but much better with a way better cast ( no offense Scott Bakula ) It seems like tv is being taking over by all the reality crap and singing shows. We need more of something like Timeless, besides it's teaching history to the kids who watch it. My Granddaughter is only 10 and she loves watching it and researching the actual events after watching the show. She thinks is soooo cool! Please keep this show moving forward and if ratings are a problem, then maybe a better time slot and day would work better. I have to record it cuz it's on to late for me. 4 am comes way to soon.

Fun, but can't take it too seriously
Overall, its a fun show. You can't take it too seriously, but its nice to watch for the adventure and the history. The time travel is pretty well done, and its nice to see their actions have real consequences in the present. It also does a good job addressing some of the obvious issues of time traveling when you're not a white dude. The characters are decent and entertaining, though nothing new. The actors do a pretty good job, and the storys okay if you don't pay too much attention. The show doesn't take take itself too seriously, and has a nice light-hearted feel to it. Its a good show to just relax with and enjoy the ride. Don't go in expecting high artisanal materiel, just enjoy the fun, charming, little time-traveling adventure.

Super fun show! Don't listen to the negative reviews!
It's not very often where season 2 is even better than season 1 so I am happy that they changed their mind about cancelling the show. Can't wait for season 3!
I don't understand all the negative reviews. The show is science fiction. It's not supposed to be perfect in its historic accuracy. It has flaws, and theres areas that still need to be fleshed out. If you are expecting everything about time travel to make sense this is not the show for you. You kinda just have to accept it and not overthink it. The story and characters are great. It's such a unique concept and makes for great sci-fi TV. Season 1 was great, but I think season 2 is better. With every episode in season 2 it was building up to the finale which is a real tease for season 3!

remarkable
I am , from childhood, a fan of time travels. Quantum Leap was one of my favorit series. but Timeless is more than special. for actors, for plot, for stories, for the status of inspired introduction to the history episodes. a sort of anatomy of different events. a film about the most things defining us. that does it special. and interesting. and it is the basis for the connection between characters and the viewer. analysis of contemporary fears. the courage to give vulnerability to the characters. and to use the conspiracy theory in smart way.using cultural references . and a clash who is well used. so, a real admirable serie.

Not bad, enjoyable for us time travel junkies
This is watchable and entertaining - more so if you are into time travel shows. It is a blatant copycat of the much better Spanish show the Ministry of Time (El Ministerio Del Tiempo) who apparently are suing Timeless for copyright violation, but hey that means more time travel episodes for all of us time travel junkies. You can really feel the low budget with this one. Although they do a reasonable job the casting and acting is just so so. I think Matt Lauer's role is the most miscast. He is supposed to be the warrior of the group that protects the group on these dangerous missions and, having all of the potential big tough guys of the United States forces from the Navy SEALs to Delta Force and so on to choose from they picked a small short guy who literally seems to get his butt kicked every episode he has to actually fight. I also find the role of Paterson Joseph who plays the Elon Musk type character has been completely ruined by terrible writing as he flip flops from charismatic, confident, powerful businessman to weak and unconfident lackey. The writers really ruin an opportunity for a good character here. Abigail Spencer is pretty good in the role though not nearly as good as her counterpart in the Ministry of time Aura Garrido. The Rufus character is also a bit of a wasted opportunity. He's pretty much the glorified driver of the Time Machine, and in every episode used to remind us - as he tells us early on in the show - at no time in the past was it good to be a black man. Malcolm Barrett is pretty good and there is so much more that the writers could be doing with his character. I hope we'll see more character development in season two. The character of Flynn is by far the best and the best acting performance on the show provided by Goran Visnjic. This is a more Americanized version of The Ministry of Time with the theme of travelling back in time to battle against bad guys who are trying to mess with history in that it is much more action based... Which is great. Again it's nice to have both of these shows to fill the time travel fix and I'm glad it got renewed for a second season.
Entertaining but??????
SEASON 2....YES!
So happy to see that season 2 is a go. This was sch an entertaining show, and I love the cast. Hopefully more people will come to enjoy the show as well to keep it going!

Highly rated show, cancelled?
Just finished watching the last episode of the series, which was a good satisfying ending..The question, I keep scratching my head about, is why was the show cancelled? It sure as heck wasn't the ratings. I checked several sources, including IMDB. The ratings were high, which mirrored IMDB's 7.7 rating. Most of the shows in the last season were around 8.5. The finale was 8.9! So what gives? The time traveling show, that follows a college professor, a high tech pilot, and an Army Delta Force soldier through time. They travel in a prototype time travel ship, shaped in a sphere, called the "Lifeboat". A newer time travel ship, known as "The Mothership" is stolen by agents of a secret society organization, known as " Rittenhouse," who try to change history, in a quest to have complete power over the Earth. The Lifeboat team, chase Rittenhouse through time, to stop them. There are subplots involving the team members that give the storyline it's emotional lifts. This combination works well. Maybe NBC, or Netflix, will reboot the series with a new cast. Wish they would. Will see.

Excellent Show
Love this show. It is compelling and interesting and teaches history along the way. Some of the bad reviews on here seem to be criticizing the concept of time travel as opposed to the show itself. The attention to detail with the costumes and the dialogue and historical information are a joy to watch. Also the story line with the Wittenhouse family and Flynn and trying to figure out who really is the bad guy after all makes it that much more interesting. This is a show that entertains and makes you think at the same time which is very rare these days. Highly recommend the show .
Time travel was never so good 👌
When stories can be made as prequels and sequels why not Season 3 with a new story for an extra ordinary series which can be watched with entire family ? Timeless is a rich with story telling, exceptional production values, awesome cinematography and music. Showing American History in this plot is superb. Please renew it!

An excellent adventure through time!
Timeless is a most excellent adventure through time! Not unlike Bill and Ted, our characters travel through time to historical events, righting wrongs and chasing bad guys.
There are a few deep elements to the story, like how the designer of the time machine, Rufus, travels with the other characters to different times. As Rufus is a very likeable character who is Black, it highlights the very different attitudes people had towards different races at different times in history and you find yourself really feeling for Rufus. It adds an interesting and I feel important addition to the historical accuracies of the stories.
There are also themes of trying to change timelines to prevent people's loved ones from tragic events, so each episode can be a bit heavy, if you know what I mean. It's certainly not a comedy!
Talking of accuracy.. 10/10 for the CGI and special effects, but 3/10 for scientific accuracy. It's hard to watch a program about time travel without worrying about the fact that any change to a timeline could have a massive effect to the future timeline. There are some timeline alterations, but considering some of the actions that take place on some of the trips it's hard to believe there wouldn't have been more consequences. My advice is to just suspend your disbelief. :)
The acting is good, the writing is good, and the effects are good. The characters are likeable, and the trips into history are interesting and educational at the same time.
I really enjoyed Timeless, but I found I couldn't 'binge' watch it, as each episode has a lot going on which requires a bit of a break inbetween to give your mind a rest from the plot, the deeper sub plot, and even deeper sub-sub plot!
Certainly worth 7/10 I reckon.

Perfect
This show is incredible. It shows us the forgotten people of history. Drama, comedy, romance, action, adventure. This show is easily my favorite on television. Highly recommended.
Season 3, please!
One of the best shows on TV today. If you like history (and even if you don't), you'll love this show. Well-written and acted. Amazing cast and storyline that pulls in viewers and leaves them wanting more. #SaveTimeless

Not Dragged Out
Started to get repeatitive at times but they spiced it up best they could. Simple plain fun at the beginning. At times there was blatant disregard for logic of time travel - as we understand it, ha ha. :)
My rating actually went up as I started not too be too much of a nerd about it but just enjoying the ride. And history.
Woke Nuclear Bomb but enjoyable
Well if you can get by the wokeness its enjoyable. The acting is good as is the story lines. Over all its enjoyable but they were determined to make woke statements. Dads are bad. White men are bad. USA history is bad. Basically anything traditional is very bad. I can not understand why every new tv show has to show just how modern they are? I will give them credit they are determined. The Timeless Tv series is somewhat unique and the history mixed in with the plots make it tolerable if not enjoyable. Overall Its a good binge on a rainy day.

Great Start Turns Preachy
A great premise and interesting characters got me into this show. By second season, however, it was social agenda central. Every time Rufus goes back in time, a point is made to highlight the racism of the time. Episode I'm watching now dwells on a woman admitting her lesbian leanings in the '80s. I watch TV to be entertained, not preached to. I can see why this once promising series died in season 2.
