Perhaps episode one was not great, but it was certainly watchable, but by golly episode 2 is a letdown. There are a number of scenes which really make no sense, when the alien was slowly moving towards our brave hero why didn't he move back just a little faster? If the story was truly captivating, or even if you cared about the characters, it could be excused, but this is not the case.
The 2nd half of the book fills you with hopelessness, but this episode attempts are totally wasted by all the flipping round. My guess it was done to support the love story, which if correct then the totally pointless love story managed to destroy the prime element of the 2nd half of the story. I can't help but feel the priorities are all wrong. Regardless, the flip flopping round and tedium caused me to have no interest in the characters as well, so the attempt was self-defeating.
Still, great action at 11-13 minutes. As for the reunion of our lovers, ho hum. Because so much of the core story is mixed in with the pointless love story and self-loathing by the protagonist its hard to avoid the boring bits, just try and stay awake until the end so you can at least say you watched it. If you do not want to once you get to the 65 minute mark you get to the end of the core story.
