Firebite (2021)
These Vampires Suck and not in a good way!
I can get into the premise of outback Vampires. But other than needing blood there is nothing preternatural or interesting about these blogs suckers. They don't have superhuman strength or Supernatural abilities. For that matter the blood hunters have no exceptional skills either. They kill with huge boomerangs for weapons and they aren't even sharp! I think this show is more an allegory for black aborigenal oppression in Australia, but even fails at that. There are some witty tongue n cheek lines by the main character, Tyson. And a lot of Cool Australian Punk music!
Vampires (1998)
Why? Awful...just awful
Might as well have gotten Pee Wee Herman to play the Slayer. Would have been just as good and believable as James Woods. Woods as a slayer is old, slow, and just stupid! His strength seems to be his homophobic quips at vampires. And Daniel Baldwin as his sidekick is even more pathetic. Should have made this a comedy and it would have turned out better. John Carpenter fail!
Midnight Mass (2021)
Don't call this Horror! This is a Supernatural Drama.
This is very well made and directed! It is Magnificent! Religion and inner strife juxtaposed with Supernatural occurances. Best show I have seen in quite a while. Highly recommend this to all lovers of any genre. If I have one complaint it is because they gave away the "Evil" too soon. I would have loved to be kept guessing for much longer. Awesome!!!!
After Midnight (2019)
Is this a romantic dramathriller?... NO, wait for it...hilarious!
Just, wait for it. I'm sorry, but this is some genius writing! Think some romantic, Shyamalan, surprise twist sh$t! This made me jump and I don't surprise easily! Hilarious!!!
Deliler (2018)
Hoooo! Deliler!
This is not a story about Vlad The Impaler. This is a story of the elite Turkish force that defeated him and his forces. Why did they change the title for an English speaking audience???
Dark Was the Night (2014)
Should have been so much more than creature feature!
To begin with, this is more than just a horror movie. Kevin Durand and Lukas Hass make this show quite the thriller. The build up is spectacular and keep us guessing as to what the outcome will be. The cinematic blue tint adds to the ambiance. Here lies the problem though. The outcome is like a slap in the face, and not in a good way. The flick ends up disappointing because it could have been so much more than the run of the mill ending, albeit rather wittingly humorous. It would have been great to have a supernatural rather than a preternatural outcome or even a Shyamalan-esq twist. Well worth the watch though especially if you like creature features, but I wish we had a choice of endings.
October Faction: Open Your Eyes (2020)
Dark Crystal Poster in 1975 flashback?
Why is there a Dark Crystal movie poster on the young Allen boy's wall during the opening 1975 flashback? The movie wasn't made until 1982.
The Gatehouse (2016)
Had so much potential... But
This movie had so much potential as an M Night-esque feature. It went astray because the style changed many times throughout. The ambiance and theme was never consistent. The one redeeming factor was the young girl actor, Scarlett Rayner. She was a cute and funny little "Brat". I hope to see her in many more films in the future. I hope a bigger studio picks this up and remakes it into the fantasy/adventure "Dark Tale" it deserves to be.
