[Original] The ASCAT Level 1 processing will be updated on 22th November 2022 and this will result in a change in the Coastal (12.5 km) OSI SAF (OSI-104-b and OSI-104-c) and EARS ASCAT wind products. The new input data will contain a Land Contribution Ratio (LCR) which enables us to retrieve winds closer to the coast than we currently do. The minimum distance of winds to the coast will be reduced from approximately 20 km in the current products to 10 - 15 km in the new products. More information on this can be found in the technical report in the attached URL. Note that the 25 km ASCAT wind products will not change. To support user preparation for the updated wind products, the new data version is being distributed in parallel to the current data on the KNMI FTP server since 31 August and up until the 21 September. The parallel data stream will be available only for Metop-B global OSI SAF winds, in directory /scat/ascat_b_osi_test. An example test file name is ascat_20220818_055700_metopb_51451_eps_t_coa_ovw.l2_bufr.
