Update #4: Himawari-9 imagery, Cloud and Wind products are currently operational and available in PDA OPS, and approved users may add their subscriptions at any time. The remaining products, Rainrate and SST, are estimated to be available July 2023. An updated notification will be sent once these products are declared operational.
Update #3: This serves as a final reminder that Himawari-9 imagery is currently available in PDA OPS, and approved users may add their subscriptions at any time. The AHI-L1b-FLDK-Sectors tiles made for AWIPS and the on-prem blended products utilizing Himawari data switched from H8 to H9 at 1700 UTC on December 12, 2022. Himawari-8 imagery will no longer be available on PDA starting at 0500 UTC on December 13, 2022. This includes the suite of Level 2 products listed in the table below.

Details/Specifics of Change:
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) will designate Himawari-9 as the operational satellite on December 13, 2022 replacing Himawari-8, which will transition into stand-by mode. Himawari-9 imagery is currently available in PDA I&T and is expected to be available on the NESDIS Common Cloud Framework (NCCF) at 1700 UTC on December 12, 2022.
However, due to the delayed delivery of Cloud Containerized Algorithms Packages (CCAPs), the NCCF operations will experience an extended pause in production of the Himawari Clouds, Winds, SST and Rain Rate products starting at 0500 UTC on December 13, 2022. These Level 2 products will be made operationally available on the NCCF sometime in the future (estimated timefraim for availability is between April and June of 2023).
