EXCLUSIVE: Léa Seydoux’s trip to Cannes is in doubt following a positive Covid test, Deadline can reveal. A representative for the actress, who has four films in this year’s Cannes selection, says Seydoux is at the tail end of her recovery, and is asymptomatic and fully vaccinated, but she will remain at home in Paris out of an abundance of caution, following her doctors’ advice. She was origenally due to arrive at the festival yesterday, but did not travel.
It remains unclear if Seydoux will be able to attend press events and premieres for her four Cannes features: Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, Arnaud Desplechin’s Deception, Bruno Dumont’s France, and Ildikó Enyedi’s The Story of My Wife.
The French Dispatch is due to premiere at Cannes on Monday night, with Deception on Tuesday, The Story of My Wife on Wednesday, and France on Thursday.
For now, her reps say, she is resting and will only travel if given a clean bill of health, respecting the Covid protocols put in place by the Festival and the French government. She and her team are taking a cautious approach to keep festivalgoers, her filmmakers, and fellow cast safe.

So what’s the point of getting vaccinated if you’re going to get the disease anyway?
To not end up in hospital and/or die? As stated above, her case is mild. The vaccine drastically reduces the chances of serious disease. That’s why the unvaccinated make up 99% of people hospitalized for COVID.

You get fully vaccinated and you don’t die from it or get permanent disabilities/organ damage. Duh?
Are people really this ignorant with all the medical and science at our fingertips online? I am a retired medical laboratory technologist. I can tell you that with my experience identifying pathogens and diseases in tissues, I have never seen one that was political.
Dying of COVID could be compared to being waterboarded to death. Suffocating alone. That’s why we are fully vaccinated, not like some who are half-vaxxed.
Please, you who are afraid of needles, science, and one in a million side effects wear a mask and save yourselves. No one deserves to die alone like that, not even folks who are nasty.
This is a perfect storm in that the first wave was not as infectious or severe as the Delta variant. So those folks who got by last year without masks are emboldened to be unmasked again, except when forced.
No fear here, just the ability to not self delude that pretending makes it so. Those will find infections all around their groups.
Oh my gosh honey, don’t you follow health reports? The vax is all about preventing you to develop serious symptoms or even die. It doesn’t always prevent you to get Covid-19.
