James Gunn is confirming that Matt Reeves is not only working on expanding his The Batman universe but also developing a series set within the new DC Universe.
DC Studios co-head is answering more fan queries on social media and confirmed that Reeves is producing an Arkham series set in the Batman universe within the new world Gunn and Peter Safran are developing.
A fan asked Gunn on Threads if Reeves was working on more projects in the “Batverse” aside from The Batman: Part II, the Penguin series and the Arkham series.
“Right now Matt is producing Arkham as a DCU series, so there’s just the two for now,” Gunn replied confirming the Arkham series.

Another fan asked for clarification about the Arkham series set in the new DCU Gunn and Safran are working on called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
“Yes. We love Matt as a director and producer so he’ll be producing stories both within his The Batman universe and within the DCU,” Gunn said.
Gunn further clarified that the Arkham series was always planned to be set in the DCU and not part of Elseworlds, the alternate universe where projects like Reeve’s The Batman and Todd Phillips’ Joker: Folie à Deux live.
“It was one of the first pitches we bought when Peter and I came onboard. I don’t know the permutations it went through before that time,” Gunn said of the Arkham series.
In the Batman universe, Arkham refers to the Arkham Asylum, the fictional psychiatric hospital/prison where some of Batman’s most notorious foes are housed.
The new DC Universe doesn’t exist yet. Gunn is acting like they have everything planned out but they don’t. They’re way in over their heads trying to find name actors that want to be in any Warner Bros film
So the new DCU is a “trainwreck” but also doesn’t exist yet, yeah? LOL
They also factually do have a detailed years-long roadmap planned out, so genius job on yourincoherent failed cryfest, braindead triggered troll X-)
Why not set all this stuff in the SAME universe? Why can’t Phoenix’s Joker, Pattinson’s Batman and Gunn’s version of Superman all co-exist in the same place? This is what killed DCU in the first place — Bale’s (or even Keaton’s) Batman, OG Routh Superman, upgraded Gustin’s Flash, etc. could’ve co-existed without having to trot out all these overpriced and honestly conflicting movie flops and aborted TV series that are now having to be re-examined and remade AGAIN.
Because the Pattinson Batman is a street-level detective Batman who is factually never going to encounter any lazarus pits or Darkseid cosmic villains & Phoenix’s “Joker” is godawful/NOT THE JOKER in any way, shape or form.
That’s why, dung for brains. It’s *really* not rocket science.
I’m with you. The way things are now are a mess. People had genuine love for some of the DC shows but WB didn’t invest in the fandom. Now it’s a trainwreck with the few standouts you mentioned and it’s exhausting to keep track at this point.
FYI:Grant Gustin’s Flash and Ezra Miller’s Flash does exist in the same universe. Ezra Miller’s Flash appeared on The CW’s “Arrow” in: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Four. This connected the CW’s “Arrowverse” to Zack Snyder’s Universe
Like I’ve said before, Greg Berlanti’s “Arrowverse”’a annual cross-over event was better than DC Films, excluding the Bale, Phoenix, and Pattison films
Did you know that Gunn wanted to base his new Batman off of Matt Reeves with Pattinson playing Batman, and Reeves turned him down.
Stop lying! If Gunn wanted this he didn’t have to ask Reeves, period
This guy is killing the new universe before it even starts. Just make a g-dang film already, you loudmouth!
He is entering Walter Hamada levels of likeability.
Walter Hamada was extremely likeable to anyone who wasn’t a braindead loser Snyder cultist.
Yeah, they’ve been threatening this for a while now. Will it also be a grim colorless Se7en-knockoff slog like The Batman?
Troll and miserably fail harder
