IF, the new fantasy film written, directed by and starring John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds, might be a dream come true for fans of that TV series that brought Krasinski to fame: The film’s large cast includes the director’s old Office-mate Steve Carell.
As seen in the the just-released teaser trailer, Carell voices a large purple creature that looks like it could be a distant cousin of McDonald’s Grimace. The Krasinski-Carell reunion is their first since The Office closed up shop in 2013.
The upcoming family-friendly film poses the question: Ever wonder where your imaginary friends go when they’re no longer in your brain? The title doubles as both a cryptic description and an abbreviation for “Imaginary Friends.”
In addition to Reynolds, Krasinski and Carell, If also features Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, Jon Stewart, Bobby Moynihan, Sam Rockwell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Christopher Meloni, Richard Jenkins and Awkwafina.
