It would be really awesome to create a version (?) which MIT/BSD licensed instead of LGPL.

Ha, let’s not go down the rabbit hole, but I like MIT better.

Oh, I agree with MIT. I was just curious about your arguments :D 👍

So I’ve started contacting the owners of the derivative works, first of being Maciej Ceglowski, who gave franc MIT distribution rights:

Hi Titus,

Glad to hear you’ve been able to build on my code! Please feel free to use that license.

Kind regards,

Maciej

I’ve received word from Python’s guess-language creator Kent Johnson. This seems to be possible!

Hi Titus,

I am the creator of the Python guess-language package you reference. I give my permission to distribute franc, a derivative work based on guess-language, under the MIT license.

Best of luck to you!
Kent

I’ve also received word from C++’s guesslanguage creator Jacob Rideout (@jrideout). MIT will be a thing when I push a version later today!

Feel free. I agree to license any of the language guessing code I've written under an MIT license.

Cheers,
Jacob
