standardize language codes to standard ones for HTML
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Not all MediaWiki language codes are the same as the standard BCP 47 codes used in HTML (lang attribute) – see also T231475 and T231476. We should make sure to use the correct, standard language codes in our generated HTML, e. g. in the inlanguage directive.

Event Timeline

Change 533996 had a related patch set uploaded (by Matthias Geisler; owner: Matthias Geisler):
[mediawiki/extensions/Wikibase@master] birdge: use bcp47 language codes

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/533996

Indeed it is a copy - I had yesterday no better idea then the thing, which was already given by you, also in terms of, that this effect the very same bit in the code.

Okay, I’ve tried to clarify the task description.

Change 533996 merged by jenkins-bot:
[mediawiki/extensions/Wikibase@master] bridge: use bcp47 language codes

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/533996

Moving to Verification, although as far as I’m aware, this can’t be verified yet since we don’t use the inlanguage directive anywhere. (That will probably come with T231471.)
