He visits his paternal uncle, an oily old burgomaster with plenty of money, and with many professions . of affection towards the old man, Tontolini makes his request, which is as promptly refused. The old man leaves the room, and Tontolini searches the safe without finding any money. The old man gets his servant to hide in her dress a pocket book full of banknotes, and Tontolini goes through innumerable funny adventures before he eventually secures the cash he requires. One scene in the burgomaster's cellar, where Tontolini bores holes in the casks of beer, and his uncle and servant try to stem the streams is excruciatingly funny.
