)With the release of the AO for SMEX Mission Set #3, NASA converted the SMEX Program to a PI-Mode managed mission approach. Consequently, in the Spring of 1999, the GSFC in-house SMEX Project was closed. The Project was reassigned to implement the Triana mission ( http://triana.gsfc.nasa.gov/) and carried with them the continued development of the SMEX-Lite satellite bus. Current SMEX missions are now managed through the GSFC Explorers Project ( http://explorers.gsfc.nasa.gov/).
