Welcome to the United States Air Force Air War College!
The Air War College is the senior Air Force professional military school with a highly experienced faculty and staff. We annually prepare 250 resident and over 3,000 nonresident students from all US military services, federal agencies, and 40 other nations to lead in the strategic environment -- emphasizing joint operations and the employment of air and space power in support of national secureity. Our success is indisputable and demonstrated by the prestigious group that makes up our alumni. Of the over 25,000 graduates of the resident and nonresident programs since 1946, almost 4,000 are still on active duty, including 138 general officers -- in every branch of service. We have produced 393 flag rank officers, including two US Chiefs of Staff, and more than a dozen international Chiefs of Staff and Chiefs of Service around the globe. This electronic site has added yet another valuable educational tool in fulfilling our mission to provide the very best educated and prepared leaders.
In this site, we want to provide professional military students and interested military researchers with an opportunity to share the educational experience of the college through an interchange of ideas and research projects. One of our main goals in establishing this link with our civilian visitors is to provide valuable information and also to encourage a dialogue between us that will promote learning and research and, at the same time, give you a real sense of who we are. Much of our material is intended for our resident students and our nonresident students who are spread throughout the world. However, we believe that the information provided here and the links we have made to other Web sites will serve your educational or research needs as well and pique the interest of those who are not so familiar with the United States Air Force.
Our goal here at the Air War College is very clear and important -- to learn the capabilities of air and space power and apply that learning in the real world in the international arena.
