Does using hints affect the amount of Picarats I'll earn when I solve a puzzle?
Nope, only submitting an incorrect answer will decrease the number of Picarats a puzzle is worth.

Should I worry about not having enough Picarats to unlock all the bonus content?
Nah, the stuff in the Top Secret area ranges from 4200 to 5200 Picarats. When you get an answer wrong, you only loose three or so Picarats so you'd pretty much have to get every puzzle in the game wrong twice to end up short the required amount.

What's the password for The Hidden Door in the Top Secret area?
It's random so you'll have to snag a copy of the prequel to generate it. Or you could try posting your code on the message boards and see if anyone who owns Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box would be nice enough to generate it for you.
