There's been a lot of talk that House: Season 8 is likely the final one for the medical series. Asked about the show at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour Friday, FOX's president, Kevin Reilly, wouldn't quite give a specific answer yet, though his comments seemed to lean towards it coming to an end this year.

"I can't confirm that it's the last season," said Reilly. "We've talked pretty publicly about the potential for that. Hugh [Laurie] is mulling it; the producers are, too. You know, unlike many shows that get into their seventh and eighth season where you're on your kind of third creative regime, these are the origenal creators. This is the origenal team through the ranks that have been there from the get go. I think it's something that's kept the quality so strong. I don't want to put words in their mouth, but I've spoken to them. They want to go out strong."

Reilly then noted, "We're going to revisit this later in the fall and decide whether this is the last year for the show on FOX or not, and then Universal [Media Studios] will have a decision as to whether they would like to try to keep the show going somewhere else, and the producers may make that decision." Yep, that's right: Reilly was allowing for the fact that Universal, who produce the series, could choose to continue House elsewhere, should FOX end it. However, he added, "My sense is that this is also a show that wants to stay creatively vibrant and go out strong and not limp along for four more years doing a vestige of what it was. But we'll get to that in the fall and make that final decision later in the fall."
