Before I begin, you (pretty much) have to watch this video:
...
Well, since I know a lot of you are too lazy to watch a 4 minute video, I'll sum up the Wii U rumors:
- $349.99 - $449.99 Launch price (He misspoke in the video)
- 11-23-2012 Launch date
Supports:
- 2 tablet controllers
- 2 rear buttons, not triggers
- Radeon HD 6770 Chipset
- 2 GB RAM
- 560 MB for OS
- Direct X11
- Unreal 4 Engine
- Pre-installed content
Proof of Power
- According to Gearbox, Colonial Marines on Wii U will be the best version
- AC III can run at 60 fps, native 1080p (as opposed to 720p on PS3/360)
Well, the 2 topics that are the most noteworthy, in my opinion, are the price tag and specs. I was really hoping for a $300 Wii U. Now, I would still get it at launch, but only if Rayman Legends and a few others (AC III, maybe a racing game - hey, I am zeldaRACER after all) are available DAY 1.
Now let's talk about specs. It's awesome that the Wii U is a powerhouse (though still overshadowed by PCs, but what console isn't?). However, if these rumors are true, those same impressive specs are driving up that painful price tag. Despite those sentiments, this could potentially be a good thing for the Wii U in the long run, enabling it to keep up with the other next-gen systems.
As for the other rumors, it'd be cool if 2 tablets were supported, and adds even more asymmetrical local multiplayer possibilities. Now if these rumors are true, they'd apparently be from ubisoft, giving quite a bit of weight to the comments about AC III. How about that price date being a little later? That's probably a good thing - more time to save enough money to pay that launch day bill...
So, what about you fine MyIGNers? Are you excited about this? Do you now hate the Wii U? Or even more than you did before? Leave a comment, I'd love to get a wide array of opinions on this topic..
In addition, I haven't written a blog for almost 2 months?! Oh gosh, I knew school was eating up my time, but that's shameful. Luckily, in just 11 days, I'll be able to dedicate a lot more time to this place, and be writing blogs as much as possible. I have a feeling E3 we'll give me enough fuel to last me to the beginning of July... at least.
