The Good, the bad and the... unfortunate rumorsMay 22, 2012 by

Before I begin, you (pretty much) have to watch this video:

...

Well, since I know a lot of you are too lazy to watch a 4 minute video, I'll sum up the Wii U rumors:

  • $349.99 - $449.99 Launch price (He misspoke in the video)
  • 11-23-2012 Launch date

Supports:

  • 2 tablet controllers
  • 2 rear buttons, not triggers
  • Radeon HD 6770 Chipset
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 560 MB for OS
  • Direct X11
  • Unreal 4 Engine
  • Pre-installed content

Proof of Power

  • According to Gearbox, Colonial Marines on Wii U will be the best version
  • AC III can run at 60 fps, native 1080p (as opposed to 720p on PS3/360)

Well, the 2 topics that are the most noteworthy, in my opinion, are the price tag and specs. I was really hoping for a $300 Wii U. Now, I would still get it at launch, but only if Rayman Legends and a few others (AC III, maybe a racing game - hey, I am zeldaRACER after all) are available DAY 1.

Now let's talk about specs. It's awesome that the Wii U is a powerhouse (though still overshadowed by PCs, but what console isn't?). However, if these rumors are true, those same impressive specs are driving up that painful price tag. Despite those sentiments, this could potentially be a good thing for the Wii U in the long run, enabling it to keep up with the other next-gen systems.

As for the other rumors, it'd be cool if 2 tablets were supported, and adds even more asymmetrical local multiplayer possibilities. Now if these rumors are true, they'd apparently be from ubisoft, giving quite a bit of weight to the comments about AC III. How about that price date being a little later? That's probably a good thing - more time to save enough money to pay that launch day bill...

So, what about you fine MyIGNers? Are you excited about this? Do you now hate the Wii U? Or even more than you did before? Leave a comment, I'd love to get a wide array of opinions on this topic..

In addition, I haven't written a blog for almost 2 months?! Oh gosh, I knew school was eating up my time, but that's shameful. Luckily, in just 11 days, I'll be able to dedicate a lot more time to this place, and be writing blogs as much as possible. I have a feeling E3 we'll give me enough fuel to last me to the beginning of July... at least.

Around ZR's world in 60 days - A Return BlogMarch 10, 2012 by

As some of you may have noticed, I disappeared for approximately 2 months. This happened because, all of the sudden, internet explorer would crash if I tried to visit IGN. Since the computer I use isn't exclusively mine, I was a little wary about downloading a new browser. But then, Blair told me about this grand Birthday Blog she made me. It was at that time when I knew I HAD to come back.

^Epic return music^

So, I bet you just can't wait to find out what I've been up to those 8 weeks? ... Yes? No? Well I'm going to tell you anyways:

I've switched to Mozilla Firefox

It took a little getting used to, but ultimately I love it and it's 100 times better than IE.

I've listened to quite a bit of music

While I was gone, I've quadrupled my CD collection! Actually, that isn't saying much: I went from 2 CD's to 8. However, 5 of them are drastically different from one another. They are Foo Fighters - Greatest Hits, Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto, Disney & PIXAR - Greatest, CAKE's Fashion Nugget, Shinedown - The Sound of Madness and Foo Fighters - Wasting Light.

I was going to put in Walk by the Foos, but there's a gesture in the video that's not MyIGN appropriate

I played and beat Super Metroid

I LOVE THIS GAME! The gameplay, music, exploration, upgrades, bosses, graphics, Zebes, the ending, everything is perfect.  This game has even kicked Wind Waker out of my top 5 favorite games of all-time (Sorry, Jono).

I've downloaded a bunch of games

  • VVVVVV (Difficult, brilliant)
  • 3D Pixel Racing (okay, cheap)
  • Mighty Switch Force (Good, takes up a ton of memory)
  • Motoheroz (love it so far, challenging)
  • Majora's Mask (got it as a Club Nintendo reward, haven't played it much, but I got to the Pirate's Fortress on N64)
  • Pushmo (Great, a little overrated)
  • Mutant Mudds (Charming, frustrating and also slightly overrated)

I've dusted off a couple games in my backlog

These are Skyward Sword and Shadow of the Colossus (oh, my backlog is full of supposedly amazing games - Arkham Asylum and the Prime Trilogy are also members). I'm about to find the Sand Ship in SS and I've defeated 8 Colossi in SotC.

I've missed... YOU

Yeah, you on the web-enabled device. I've missed all of you... well, almost :)

And here's some quick shout-outs to those I missed the most: Jono, Habit, Freddy, Gold, Strat, Sam, hypernova, SGG, Jon, Dilla, Ghost, smartguy, Ninty, Jose, and Anthony (though I did drop in on a few streams).

And finally, something really important. I'd like to host a video game soundtrack tournament. User-nominated and voted, of course. It would be run in a similar fashion to Lost and Crustys' tournaments. So PLEASE comment if you'd like for this to happen because I won't have one if no one's going to participate...

One of my all-time favorite tracks from one of my all-time favorite dungeons

As always, feed back is greatly appreciated, so leave a comment! (About the game music tournament, if nothing else)

ZR's thoughts on Pokemon Black 2 & White 2 (Response Blog)February 28, 2012 by

Great way to return to blogging, right? *nervous laugh*

Original article

Anyways...

  • Are you excited by the announcement of Black 2 and White 2? Why? Why not?

Yes, it's much better than a Pokepark 3, Rumble Explosion or full Pokedex 3D announcement (actually, that'd be pretty cool).

  • Are there particular features or ideas Black 2 and White 2 must have to convince you of a purchase? Will you buy them no matter what they include?

I'd like them to expand the Unova region - the towns were all unique but there just wasn't much to them. Additionally, there needs to be more to do after beating the Elite Four. Aside from battling them again, taking a cruise or visiting the sports arena, there weren't many places I could get significant amounts of exp. for my team.

  • As a gamer, do you care whether these games are published on the DS or the 3DS? Were you expecting them to be developed for the 3DS?

Yes and no. No: More main series pokemon is never a bad thing and the obvious platform for them to make more money on would be the DS.

Yes: After seeing pokemon in 3D through the Pokedex 3D, it's a shame that I'll be seeing more sprites. Also, simply put, the 3DS can handle much more than a DS can.

  • Will you be playing these games on your 3DS? Is that a problem for you, or do you not mind playing DS games on your 3DS?

Yes, no.

  • Do you think these titles being on the DS will have an impact on the perception or sales of the 3DS? Does that ultimately matter to you?

Of course! Many of my friends won't buy a 3DS until (main series) Pokemon appears on the system and I know they're not the only ones. To me? No, and it'll be nice for the next gen. to get a fresh start on the 3DS.

  • Do you have any other comments regarding the development or publication of Black 2 and White 2?

Along with TheJis , I hope that these games will be crafted with the purpose of giving fans more of what they love, not solely for the purpose of making the most money possible. Unfortunately, the fact that they're on DS and that the two "new" legendary pokemon look like Kyurem + Zekrom/Reshiram.

Now that I'm back, I'll blog whenever I get the time. I hope to get a 'real' blog up this weekend :)

ZR's Friend Code Exchange BlogNovember 25, 2011 by

Yes, after months of recieving "What's your 3DS friend code?" questions and answering with statements like, "It'd be pointless; I don't have a router so my 3DS is offline. But as soon as I get one, I'll gladly share my friend code with you". Well, that time is now.

My Friend Codes are:

3DS

  • 1504-5733-7485

Wii

  • EDIT: On second thought, I'm not going to even bother with this

Mario Kart Wii

  •  1549-8667-5437

Brawl

  • 1506-9169-6147

I'm very much enjoying the online componets of Mario Kart Wii. Although before writing this, a random error occurred in the middle of a race I was winning :( and I lost some VR in the process. Oh well, once I restarted my Wii and tried again, everything worked fine.

Anyways, if you want to become my 'friend', please leave a comment including your friend code(s) and what they're for. And be sure to look out for a blog after Mario Kart 7 comes out because I'd like to start a MyIGN community for it.

Also: I may or may not add these to my main page, so this might be your only oppurtunity to add me.
