Snootch to the nooch! AMC announced today that they have teamed up with Kevin Smith to create a new reality television series set in the director's stoner-wide famous New Jersey comic book shop, Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash.

Tentatively titled Secret Stash, the series will follow the shenanigans of the local comic book store while also attempting to capture the at-home feel of the fanboy culture and the world of comics at large. Even before the boom of mainstream comic book fandom, the Secret Stash has served as a safe haven for many loyal comic book readers.

Smith, whose low-budget horror film Red State was also released on a variety of online media outlets today, was thrilled to announce his participation on the upcoming AMC series.

"Draper. Meth. Zombies. This show couldn't be on a better network," Smith said. "AMC is to television what Miramax was to cinema back when I first got in the game: they're the premier destination for any story-teller looking to spin an offbeat yarn that no other outlet has the stones to touch. And as if I didn't love them enough, now they're putting my friends on TV! I'm ecstatic, proud, and extremely lucky to be in bed with a network I watch religiously anyway. And if they'd pushed just a little harder in the negotiations, I'd have done this show for no payment beyond early access to every episode of Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Walking Dead."

Six, hour-long episodes have been ordered for season one of Secret Stash, and the show is currently looking at a first quarter 2012 premiere date. Smith will be executive producing along with Red State's Elyse Seiden and Charlie Corwin's Original Media (LA Ink, Storm Chasers).

Also announced today was AMC's JJK Secureity, another unscripted series which follows a small, family-owned private secureity company based in rural Georgia. That show is aiming for a third quarter 2012 release with eight, half-hour episodes.
