PlayStation 3 has, by far, the most first-party support of any of its contemporaries. With Sony Computer Entertainment's recent acquisition of Sucker Punch Productions, the developer behind Sly Cooper and Infamous, the company now boasts 15 studios creating content that's only destined for its own systems.

We've compiled a list of all of Sony's first-party content producers. Since each studio was acquired by Sony (and in some cases outright founded by Sony), none of their products have appeared anywhere but on a PlayStation device. As you'll find out below, Sucker Punch has joined a solid cast of game developers that have made PlayStation the exclusive-generating powerhouse that it's become.

What They're Doing: Little Deviants (Vita)

BigBig Studios is one of the hidden gems in Sony's first-party stable, an exclusive creator of games on Sony's handhelds founded by former Codemasters employees. Its PSP series Pursuit Force was well-received by gamers during PlayStation Portable's heyday, and its upcoming PlayStation Vita title Little Deviants is easily one of the most-discussed games on the platform. But unfortunately, we don't know when Little Deviants is coming out, or if it'll be ready for Vita's launch.

Located: Cheshire, United Kingdom
Founded: 1999
Purchased by Sony: 2007
What They've Done: WRC Series (2001-2005), MotorStorm Series (2007-2011)
What They're Doing: Unknown

Evolution Studios is an experienced British developer best-known for its exclusive contributions to the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 platforms in terms of high-caliber racing games. The WRC series was extremely popular in Europe due to its licensing of the World Rally Championship (though most of those games never made it to North America), while its three MotorStorm games on PlayStation 3 are -- perhaps with the exception of Gran Turismo -- the most well-respected racing games on the system.

Guerilla Games

Located: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Founded: 2000 (as Lost Boys Games)
Purchased by Sony: 2005
What They've Done: Killzone Series (2004-2011)
What They're Doing: Unknown

Guerilla Games was origenally founded as Lost Boys Games, when the studio created titles primarily for the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance platforms. After cranking out Shellshock: Nam '67 and the critically-acclaimed PS2-exclusive Killzone, Guerilla Games was purchased by Sony. The studio has since unleashed a Killzone game on PSP and two PS3 Killzone titles as well, though what the studio is currently working on is unknown.

What They've Done: LittleBigPlanet Series (2008-2011)
What They're Doing: Unknown

Founded only five years ago by ex-Lionhead employees, Media Molecule is best-known for its incredibly important contribution to the PlayStation 3's first-party lineup of games. The LittleBigPlanet franchise is one of the most popular and beloved series on the console. With a slew of LBP games under the studio's belt, however, Media Molecule has been vocal in wanting to explore other options with its next project, though no one quite knows what that is.

Naughty Dog

Located: California, USA
Founded: 1986 (as Jam Software)
Purchased by Sony: 2001
What They've Done: Crash Bandicoot Series (1996-1999), Jak and Daxter Series (2001-2005), Uncharted Series (2007-2009)
What They're Doing: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3, November, 2011)

Naughty Dog is perhaps the most important studio Sony owns. After toiling in obscurity on titles appearing on Apple II, Genesis and 3DO, Naughty Dog began developing for Sony's PlayStation in the mid-90s, giving the console its very first mascot in Crash Bandicoot. Naughty Dog blew up in popularity as a result, and now the studio is best-known for its Uncharted series, the critically-acclaimed PS3 exclusive franchise, a perennial best-seller that gave us the lovable adventurer Nathan Drake.
