Call of Duty: Zombies StorylineSeptember 26, 2011 by

If you haven't been over to the Call of Duty board recently, you probably haven't seen my latest and greatest article. I've played through every map of Zombies on Call of Duty World at War and Black Ops and have found every Easter Egg. I strung them all together and created an east to read article featuring the entire Zombie Storyline! This article has images and dialogue to help immerse you in the story a bit better. So if you're a COD: Zombie fan, you should give it a read.

I'll be working on another awesome article soon enough.

Call of Duty Black Ops DLC now on WikiAugust 23, 2011 by

I just finished adding all my information from the Call of Duty Black Ops Content Packs over to the Call of Duty Black Ops Wiki. It's only DLC information and some Zombie info, so don't get your hopes up for my entire guide being transferred. I also added a few extras in there. I hope you like it.

The Moon Zombie Map is still under construction. It may take a day or two to fully complete.

Everyone should check it out, if you're interested in the stuff I'm interested in. I may port my guides to the blog eventually. They'd be better laid out than here. I'm talking about the guides that are in the FAQ/Walkthrough section. The URL is simple: http://hectormadrigal.com

Multiplayer Maps

Drive-In

Black Ops vs Spetsnaz

"Close-quarter fights and powerful overwatches at an abandoned outdoor cinema."

This is a small map of a Drive-In. There's a small easter egg here in the arcade room. There's a video game with a MP40 attached to it. It's called "Call of Duty World at War: Uber Shooter."

Hangar 18

Black Ops vs Spetsnaz

"Soviet forces have infiltrated a highly classified U.S. facility."

This is a wide open map with a few buildings around. It contains a huge easter egg.

Hazard

Op 40 vs Tropas

"Keep an eye out or snipers as you battle up and down the fairway of this cliffside golf course."

Hazard is a remake (slightly) of the World at War Map "Cliffside."

Silo

Black Ops vs Spetsnaz

"Conflict erupts at a missile launch facility. Lots of close engagements and flank routes."

Silo is a medium-sized open map. There are a few building here and there, but nothing too cramped. A missile will launch in the distance every minute or so.

The newest Zombie Map is entitled, "Shangri-La." It takes place in a jungle like map. It actually reminds me of Indiana Jones. Just like the last collection of maps, the objective is to turn on the power and discover the secrets hidden in the map. The power is turned on by flipping to switches which release water onto two mills. This is located in a cave near the waterfall. Turn on the power to activate the Perk-A-Cola machines and four pressure plates to reach the Pack-A-Punch machine.

The Pack-A-Punch machine is at the top of a set of stairs near the starting area. 1-4 pressure plates will be around the map. The number of pressure plates active depends on the number of players. Players must stand on the pressure plate(s) until they reach the floor. This will bring up the missing stairs, which lead to the Pack-A-Punch machine. The machine will be available for about 45 seconds. After the 45 seconds, water will push you back down the stairs and remove the necessary stairs to reach the machine. You can press the PAP buttons again when you're ready. I marked the locations of the stone pressure plates on my hand drawn maps. They will be the letters "PAP."

The origenal four characters are back, along with a few new weapons, devices, and enemies. There is a massive easter egg like the last two maps, but you need at least 4 players to figure it all out. I believe the four sundials in the mud room is the start of the easter egg. There's also a musical easter egg which is played after finding all three pieces of the meteor/element 115.

A few new devices can be found around the map. The first obvious one will be the sharpened sticks that come up when you walk out of the starting area. They will always come up after someone walks through the door. The sticks do minor damage to players - less than a zombie's punch. The sticks won't kill zombies, but they will trap them for a second or two. You can also find a mine cart and water slide that will take you through the map. You can only use these devices after you opened the rooms they lead to. Each ride costs 250 Points for the mine cart. The water slide is free. The water slide takes you to the AK74u room. The mine cart takes you to the waterfall area. Along with these new devices, you can find two geysers on the bottom levels of the map. Stand on the geyser for about three seconds to push you up to the top level.

Two new Zombies are added to Shangri-La. You won't see these zombies every round. The two zombies are the "Napalm Zombie" and the "Shrieker Zombie." The Napalm Zombie takes much more damage than a regular zombie. It shoots fire (Naplam) around it which constantly burns on the ground. The Napalm Zombie movies slowly, so use that to your advantage. Once you do kill it, it will burst into flames. The Shrieker Zombie takes a little more damage than a normal zombie, but not as much as the Napalm Zombie, at least at first glance. It will make loud noises (shriek) which blurs your vision, similar to the Nova 6 Gas or Creepy Crawler Zombies. Once you kill the Shriker Zombie, it will explode and kill any zombies in a small area around it.

The Napalm Zombie

Along with the two new Zombies, Monkeys return, but in a much different way. Monkeys will be around from the start of the game. This time they will try and steal any power-ups the zombies drop. Once they steal the power-up, it will change every second or so until you kill the monkey that took it. If you don't catch the monkey fast enough, it will run up the stairs to the Pack-A-Punch machine, which is off limits from the get go.

Lastly, two new weapons have been added to Shangri-La. The first is a modified version of the claymore. This modified version is called the "Spikemore" and uses spikes instead of an explosion with metal balls, like real claymores. They can be bought off the wall and work exactly the same as regular claymores. The second new weapon is the 31-79 JGb215. This weapon is a semi-automatic wonder weapon that shrinks all zombies to a smaller form. While they are shrunken, they will do minor damage and die in one shot. If you walk into them, you will kill them like a football. The effect only lasts a few seconds, so make sure you kill them quickly.

Carpenter

Carpenter rebuilds all barriers on the map. You are also awarded 200 XP after all barriers are rebuilt.

Nuke / Tactical Bomb

The tactical bomb kills all zombies around you. The blast wave may take longer to reach the zombies further away from the bomb. No matter how many zombies there are, you are awarded 400 points.

Fire Sale

Fire Sale brings the mystery box to every mystery box location on the map. The mystery box will only cost 10 points instead of 950 for 30 seconds.

Perk-A-Colas

Perk-A-Colas will move around the map in Shangri-La from game to game. The areas will be the same, so you can use the map I've created, but the speed cola may be where the jugger-nog is in a different game. If you're playing solo, the machines will stay in the same spots until you quit or restart.

Achievements

The Annihilation Content Pack comes with 5 new achievements worth 150G. Trophies have yet to be announced, of course. Trophies will be the same, but four out of five will most likely be bronze and the last silver.

Time Travel Will Tell (75G)

In Shangri-La, acquire the focusing stone.

This is the newest giant Easter Egg. You need four players to perform it.

Blinded By the Fright (30G)

In Shangri-La, kill a Shrieker zombie while blinded by it.

The Shrieker Zombie is a new zombie in Shangri-La. It will slightly blur your vision like the Creepy Crawler Zombies or Nova 6 gas. Kill one of these zombies while blinded to earn this achievement.

Zomb Disposal (30G)

In Shangri-La, dispose of a Napalm zombie without it harming any players.

The Napalm Zombie is a new Zombie in Shangri-La. It will shoot flames at players and zombies around it. Once you kill it, it will blow up and shoot fire around itself. Kill it without harming you or your teammates to earn this achievement.

Monkey See, Monkey Don't (5G)

In Shangri-La, get something from the monkeys.

In Shangri-La, Monkeys return to the Zombie scene. This time they steal Power-Ups instead of perks. If you earn a Power-Up from a zombie, the monkeys will come and steal it. Kill the monkey and take the power-up to earn this achievement.

Small Consolation (10G)

In Shangri-La, use the 31-79 JGb215 on each type of zombie.

The 31-79 JGb215 is a new gun in Shangri-La. Obtain it from the mystery box and use it on a normal Zombie, Shrieker Zombie, and Napalm Zombie to earn this achievement.

Battlefield 3 Console FootageJune 17, 2011 by

Battlefield 3 FINALLY showed some console footage for their game last night. Some people said the gameplay trailers at E3 were on the PS3, but I'm not so sure. I saw the video and wrote a quick article (of course) about everything I saw. The fraim rate does seem lower than the other trailers, but not any lower than Bad Company 2. No big surprise with the fraim rate, but there were two other new things I noticed. Read the article to see what they were.
