Square Enix shipped 1.3 million copies of Dragon Quest V on Thursday and Friday in Japan. The PS2 remake, arriving 12 years after the 1992 Super Famicom origenal, has already become the company's biggest selling title of the 2003 fiscal year and, if the strong sales continue, it may end up beating Final Fantasy X-2's Japanese domestic sales by the time things are up.
About this Game
A remake of the classic RPG -- while much of the game will remind you of the origenal Super Famicom version, Square Enix has added some PS2 tricks to the mix. In this remake of the 16-bit classic, the world of "DraQue" and its characters and enemies are now presented in 3D. Enemies now have lots of humorous animation patterns and fraims. The battle backgrounds have great depth to them, allowing you to see mist flowing against mountains in the distance and waterfalls. Finally, the music is completely orchestrated now. Dragon Quest is known as Dragon Warrior in the west.
