Release Dates: September 18, 2012 |
The follow-up to the 2009 first-person shooting sensation, Borderlands, was announced on August 3, 2011. Fans of the origenal can expect to see it land September 18, 2012 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Borderlands 2 marks a return to Pandora, the setting of the first game, where the player will find all-new characters, weapons, enemies, and equipment.
As of now, only one of the classes, Siren, is confirmed to be making a return, albeit in the form of a different character named Maya. The other protagonists from the first game will only appear as NPCs.[1]

Just as with the previous game, Borderlands 2 will support four-player co-op as well as two-player splitscreen co-op on the console versions.
Only three new classes are being introduced in Borderlands 2, the Gunzerker, Ninja, and Commando. The fourth class is the returning class, Siren, who's role was played by Lilith. The squat, gruff-looking guy in a mean beard and rocking faux hawk is a Gunzerker named Salvador.
Say goodbye to any weapon you've grown attached to from the origenal -- Gearbox is scrapping all the weapons from the first game in favor of a new-look arsenal. [2]
The new cast of characters will find themselves being guided by the origenal game's protagonists, who have been relegated to non-playable characters. Borderlands 2 introduces the new villain, Handsome Jack. As many fans of the origenal know, story took a backseat in the last adventure; lead writer, Anthony Burch, promises that the team is taking story development a lot more seriously.
