Times are tough and the unemployment rate keeps rising, but maybe it's some consolation that the increasing scarcity of cash money doesn't mean you can't get your gaming fix. Free games just keep on rolling in, to the point that this twice-yearly feature can't actually begin to encompass them all. Nevertheless, we've tried to condense them down to the 101 best of the last half year or so.

If those aren't enough for you, check out our list for the first half of last year, or our collections for 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2006. That should be enough to keep anyone gaming until the economy recovers.

Steel Panthers WAW and MBT are free

Why Did they not mention Steel Panthers: World at war and Steel Panthers: Main Battle Tank? Both are free from Matrix Games and Shrapnel Games, respectively.

With a bit of bluetooth controller map jigging on my tablet, my ultimate portable free gaming console can be established thanks to the Sharkey Game Navigator- seriously, how the f 1UP can get by without the witmeister I'll never know -500. Yeah, things have become a bit shamedly bittersweet. But, hey, if I ever come across a boatload of conflict resolved diamonds, I'll make sure and buy 1up back to its former glory- that or I'll make sure to make it my final Brazil delusion of hope during the ministry mandated lobotomy.
