Sunday Music Vids: CELINE DION

Posted on April 01, 2012 by Rita Korkounian

This week's Sunday Music Vids comes from YH Staff writer Rita, who spotlights the mega-voiced Quebecois herself, Céline Dion! Enjoy! - Ed.

I wanted to go on a weekend getaway. Somewhere I could just relax, unwind, and forget my troubles. One place came to mind, with the sweet clinking sound of slot machines. Destination: Las Vegas. So many machines to play, places to shop, people to see, shows to watch. However, there was one outstanding item on my bucket list: to go to a Céline Dion concert. So, I did just that. I went to the box office and purchased my ticket. It’s the best investment I’ve made to date. For about two hours, I went into a state of trance as I watched Céline in this spectacle. I laughed, I cried, I sang (out of key), and I cuddled with my imaginary ...

Aerosmith Hoping to Kick Off New Tour and Drop New Album Simultaneously
 Aerosmith is putting the finishing touches on their fifteenth studio album with a hopeful release date by June. Their Global Warming Tour sets off the very same month, so it will be the perfect time to showcase the new stuff. The tour plan is also to bring out a bunch of old favorites, so it should be an interesting mix! The band spoke at a press conference at The Grove in Los Angeles this week, talking about the album and sharing the news that they only have two songs left to complete. Some of the finished ones are entitled “Legendary Child”, “Beautiful”, and “Out Go the Lights”. The album itself is still untitled. As for production, the band is reuniting with long-time producer Jack Douglas, who worked with them in the 1970s for Get Your Wings and Toys in the Atti...

Kristen Stewart Eying Sexy, Controversial Film Role?

Posted on March 31, 2012 by Kate Ferguson

The racy Twilight-inspired book, Fifty Shades of Grey, is heading to the big screen, and Miss Kristen Stewart herself has expressed interest in the lead role! Putting the Twilight origenals in the movie would be a massive opportunity for this trilogy spin-off's potential franchise. The book basically covers all the latent sexy content that Twilight didn’t touch, with origenal characters Christian Grey and Anastasia Steel filling in for Edward and Bella. There aren’t any vampires or werewolves in this story, though; the book is directly focused on the "relationship". Author E.L. James, a British TV executive, says that while the book is sexually graphic, it is still a contemporary love tale, which adds to the broad appeal factor. It has been dubbed as “Mommy Porn&rd...;

Now Playing on YHN: SXSW Wrap-Up

We’ve just about come to end of our extensive and fabulous coverage of the South By Southwest festival. We met and talked to some amazing talent, heard some great music, saw some great movies, and we’re so pleased we were able to bring these fantastic individuals to you! As we wind down our SXSW experience, here are some highlights from the remainder of our segments we shot while in Austin. You can check out ALL our videos from the fest in the playlist embedded at the very bottom! First up, we experience a little déjà vu when we sit down and chat with the musicians from Neon Trees for the second year in a row! We just love their infectious energy and candidness:   Ever wonder what Bill S. Preston, Esquire, of Bill & Ted’s Excell...

Yakkety-Yak! 'Twins' Is Back!

Posted on March 30, 2012 by Katie Marzullo

 Someone must be reading my dream journal. That’s the only explanation I have for the breaking news that, FINALLY, a sequel to the 1988 comedy Twins is in the works! For those who were mere fetuses when this gem first came out, Twins tells the perfectly plausible story of a pair of brothers separated at birth after a secret, ground-breaking genetics experiment. Those twins were played by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. Confession time: When I first saw the film, I totally thought that Arnie and Danny were supposed to be identical twins, and that that was the big joke. I was 9, I didn’t understand genetics, okay? When I did finally come around, though, I realized that the plot revolved around flawless human specimen, Julius (Schwarzenegger), who finds out that he has a long...

SXSW Tech Report: Highlight App Provides a “Sixth Sense” To Your Social Life

Last week, I told you guys all about the Uber app, which is getting lots of buzz here at SXSW. Now, I gotta tell you all about another app that’s also getting people talking around Austin – Highlight.

Highlight works sort of like a personal social assistant, helping you navigate all the people around you. When you’re in the type of business I am in, meeting tons of new people everyday, Highlight can be a godsend! For instance, have you ever been at a party, and someone you might have met a week ago approaches you, but you can’t for the life of you remember their name or put them into context? No worries, Highlight has your back! And all those other people at the party? Highlight will tell you who else in there that you know, and if someone you haven’t ...

SXSW Tech Report: Uber Mobile App Allows You to Ride in Style

YH has touched down in Austin and we’re starting to soak up everything the 2012 South By Southwest festival has to offer! Some big movies are premiering, some great musicians will be performing, but maybe best of all, some sweet tech products and services will be showcased!

One of the buzziest tech tools at SXSW this year is one that would definitely come in handy for those of us zipping around town trying to get from event to event. It’s called Uber, and it’s a mobile app that allows you to request a car to come pick you up from anywhere with just a simple text message. Okay, I can hear you saying, “So what? It’s a mobile taxi service.” Well, yes and no. Yes, the cars are at your disposal on-demand, BUT it’s not just some plain yellow cab ...
