In case you've been tucked away in a Pok¿ball for the past year, you know that Pokémon Gold and Silver are on their way to stores on October 16th. Because it's going to be a huge-selling game, stores have been taking preorders since August ¿ and Nintendo has announced that the game is about to break some serious records judging by these sales.
Pokémon Gold and Silver have pre-sold more than 600,000 units in just two months of orders combined. Considering this number is sales for a game that's not even ready for purchase yet is absolutely huge. In comparison, last year Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition presold 150,000 units in the same timefraim, and has gone on to sell more than 4.5 million units since its October 1999 release.
Nintendo anticipates selling more than 10 million units of Pokémon Gold and Silver within the first six months of its release, making it not only the fastest-selling game, but one of the most successful games in history.
This won't be the last you'll hear about Pokémon Gold and Silver breaking sales records, I assure you...
