3. How was SARAWAK FORESTRY formed?
The concept of SARAWAK FORESTRY started when the International Tropical Timber
Organisation (ITTO) mission to Sarawak identified a number of weaknesses that
must be identified if the State is to sustainably manage its forests. The ITTO
recommended a new model, independent of the civil service be given this task,
as the Department of Forests has many constraints and limits to effectively achieve
sustainable forest management. Following the study, the Sarawak State Legislative
Assembly approved The SFC Ordinance and Sarawak Forestry Corporation Sdn. Bhd.
was established to undertake the task.

Sustainable Forestry and Compliance
Administers the economic and regulatory aspects of Sarawak’s forest, working
in partnership with the timber industry, non-timber producers and rural communities

Guards the state’s forest assets. Duties also include

- enforcement of the forest, national parks, nature reserve and wildlife protection

7. What does the four components of the SARAWAK FORESTRY
logo represent?
The four components in the SARAWAK FORESTRY logo represents, leaf, hornbill,
orang utan and tree. ‘Leaf’ reflects the foundation of all the flora
species in Sarawak. Thus, it also signifies SARAWAK FORESTRY’s effort and
responsibilities in biodiversity conservation. ‘Hornbill’ and ‘orang
utan’ are synonym with the diversity of wildlife in Sarawak and signifies
the conservation efforts to safeguard all wildlife. Furthermore, hornbill is
the official State bird and it gives the logo a distinctive Sarawakian identity. ‘Tree’ component
represents sustainable forest management to ensure the optimal use and conservation
of our forest resources.

8. Are the colours used in the logo signifies special
meanings?
The colour used in the logo green and brown embody nature and earth and the secondary
colours, namely light brown and ochre complements the primary colours used.

9. What are the business hours in SARAWAK FORESTRY?
At SARAWAK FORESTRY, office and professional staff normally works 5 days a week
(Mondays – Fridays). Working hour’s start at 8.00 am and finish at
5.15 pm. Lunch breaks are from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm for Mondays to Thursdays and
11.45 pm to 2.00 pm for Fridays. The Company also recognizes all public holidays
declared by the Sarawak State Government. Some operating units may work a different
shift to accommodate customer service needs.
