Archie Comic Publications Inc., publisher of comics featuring teenagers Archie Andrews and Jughead Jones, sued Warner Music Group Corp. to force it to change the name of the Australian pop band the Veronicas.

The Veronicas, made up of twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, were sued in federal court in New York, along with Warner Music Group. The Veronicas, who play music geared toward teen girls, are scheduled to release their first U.S. album in October.

The lawsuit contends that the band will create confusion among consumers and interfere with Archie Comic’s plans to create another music group called the Archies and to develop a movie called “Betty & Veronica” with Walt Disney Co.’s Miramax Film Corp.
