BERWICK — A retired NASCAR Cup series competitor who was known for creating on-track “excitement” is now enjoying a retirement filled with grandchildren, spending time on his farm, and crafting birdhouses in his wood shop.

Jimmy Spencer — a Berwick native who was known throughout his career as “Mr. Excitement” — retired from competition in 2006. He subsequently worked as a television racing analyst through 2013.
