C’est chic! As the world marks International Women’s Day, Tatler celebrates the most glamorous European royals
International Women's Day brings a moment to celebrate the elegant, charming and fabulous females in our society - and there are few who come close to the European royals.
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is used to stealing the spotlight whenever she is seen out and about, no matter the level of formality of the event. Whether she is wearing jeans and abseiling down a rock face, or enjoying a red carpet reception during a foreign tour, her innate magnetism is always on show.
This reminds us of another royal that used to be the epitome of effortless charisma - whether she was on duty or not. Diana, Princess of Wales’ effortless coolness is a reference for many. Her composed warmth is still used as a benchmark for Princesses and Queens, 27 years after her tragic death.

Of course, the two Princesses of Wales are far from the only chic royal women. Queen Letizia of Spain is always captivating in her simple grace, while Queen Mary of Denmark has been giving our very own Kate a run for her money when it comes to timeless elegance.
And who could forget, the modern coolness of Charlene, Princess of Monaco, the dignified sophistication of Queen Camilla or the cheerful poise proper of Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, who loves colours almost as much as the late Queen Elizabeth II.
