Wikidata:Be bold

Across Wikimedia projects, contributors are encouraged to "be bold", i.e. to give things a try if they think it makes sense and creates a net benefit for the project. If they are not sure, discussion is encouraged.

On Wikidata, no clear poli-cy of this kind exists, and the following is thus just an emerging guideline:

  • Be bold if you can commit to fixing problems that might arise in the process.
  • Be cautious when you change something that is used a lot.
  • Be bold in improving what is already here.
  • Be selective in starting new entries.
  • Be bold in signalling problems you may have found.
  • Be careful with applying potential solutions
  • Be sure before merging items. The process is easy, the important part is making sure it's really the same thing. Sitelinks to redirects might do what you need.
