Topic: Satellite Ocean Heat Content Suite outage of Cryosat-2 Sea Surface Height Anomaly input
Date Issued: Issued February 12, 2021 - 1537Z
Product(s) or Data Impacted: Satellite Ocean Heat Content Suite
Date/Time of Initial Impact: February 11, 2021 1200Z
Date/Time of Expected End: TBD
Length of Event: TBD
Details/Specifics of Change: The European Space Agency (ESA) changed Cryosat-2's raw satellite data format to a new version. NOAA/STAR reported that they will need a few days or so to make software changes to process the new Cryosat-2 data format. As a result, there will be delays for NAVO's Cryosat-2 Sea Surface Height Anomaly (SSHa) and Significant Wave Height (SWH) products that are input to NOAA's Satellite Derived Ocean Heat Content Suite processing until NOAA/STAR's software changes are accomplished. Some degradation of the Satellite Ocean Heat content products can be expected.
