Frankliniella occidentalis[4][5][1][2][6][3] är en insektsart som först beskrevs av Theodore Pergande 1895. Frankliniella occidentalis ingår i släktet Frankliniella och familjen smaltripsar.[7][8][9] Arten är reproducerande i Sverige.[9] Inga underarter finns listade i Catalogue of Life.[7]
