Information about Sydney
Surf Spot Map of Sydney and Surrounding Area.

Sydney is a great city and one that has plenty of golden sand beaches. It's main attractions have to be the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. If you are in central Sydney both are free to go see and take some photos. If you are feeling a little adventurous then why not take the walk up to the top of the bridge.

There are lots of other tourist things to do if you have some spare time. See the crowds down on Bondi Beach, check out the market down at the Rocks. Why not visit the Observatory (also at the Rocks) and check out the night sky in it's full glory.

Sydney Surfing Info and Details
Plenty of waves in the Sydney area and home to some hot surfers. There are also some heavy locals who rip. There are plenty of surf shops to get some gear together before making the trip north or south in search of some empty waves. If you are after some barrels in this area check out some advice that was posted over on the forum:

Spring and summer will be a tricky one for barrels. Not impossible, just not as easy as winter.

Bondi barrels occasionally, Tamarama and Bronte more often. Maroubra barrels in monster swell.
Any easterly ground swell will do the trick. In summer, it WILL be offshore in the morning and then go onshore around lunchtime. So the dawnie is the best time for the barrel. Forget about it in the afternoon windswell.

The downside to all these available barrels is that unless you are stunningly good, you won't get one at the city beaches as the locals will be all over it. Shark Island at Cronulla, or Ours at Botay Bay Heads are other options. Surf there only if you're a blackbelt in Ju Jitsu... or EXTREMELY talented at surfing.
