Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) is a national FEMA program that works with states, tribes, territories and local communities to evaluate and better understand their current flood risk, as well as the actions that can be taken to mitigate and become more resilient against future risk.

FEMA Region 2's Floodplain Management Training Series provides brief training videos on key topics within the National Flood Insurance Policy (NFIP) program. You will learn the history and basics of NFIP, how structural damage is determined, how flood mapping is determined, learn NFIP requirements for development in a floodway and learn about the risks associated with basements.

The Guides To Expanding Mitigation are a series designed to highlight innovative and emerging partnerships for mitigation, for example making connections between mitigation and wildlife, electric power, community groups, and others.

The Region II Individual and Community Preparedness program prepares communities for disasters through info-sharing and training — inspiring people to take action to foster preparedness and build resilience.

A key element to successfully responding to and recovering from a major disaster is the overall preparedness of individual citizens, families and the community. With that in mind, we invite you to participate in a series of ‘What would you do?’ scenarios to assess your level of preparedness.

These tabletop activities are intended to be low-stress conversation starters for the whole community. Each scenario includes discussion questions for the activity, a facilitator guide and some helpful links to enhance individual and community preparedness.
