Hirtshals es un poblado en el distrito tradicional de Vendsyssel, en el norte de Dinamarca. Pertenece a la región de Jutlandia Septentrional y al municipio de Hjørring y cuenta con 6.194 habitantes en 2012.

Hirtshals es principalmente conocido por sus puertos: el pesquero y el de transbordadores. La ciudad surgió alrededor del puerto, que fue construido entre 1919 y 1931 bajo la dirección del ingeniero Jørgen Fibiger. El puerto fue ampliado en 1966 para convertirse en uno de los puertos pesqueros más grandes de Dinamarca.

La ciudad se encuentra el Oceanario del Mar del Norte, con uno de los acuarios más grandes de Europa.

La ubicación en el Mar del Norte hizo que la ciudad contara muy pronto con un faro.

La pesca desempeña un papel importante en la ciudad, así como el turismo, incluidos los alquileres de inmuebles en época de vacaciones.

Hirshtals posee un servicio de ferry a Kristiansand y Larvik (Noruega) con Color Line; a Kristiansand, Stavanger y Bergen (Noruega) con Fjord Line, y a Tórshavn (Islas Feroe) y Seyðisfjörður (Islandia) por medio de Smyril Line.
